My father had a fairly brief stay in nursing home at Crane's Mill from July of 2024 through…read moreOctober of 2024. I waited to write this review so I would be able to reflect more clearly on the experience. Mostly, my father's and my family's time there was not very positive. I am leaving the two stars for those staff members that did treat my father with kindness, compassion and understanding. We decided to put my father on hospice so we could access more daily care and less medical testing ect. However, what we observed is less concern, less care and less compassion. My father's care was not easy as he had little mobility and dementia/delirium the last few weeks was significant. Hospice did provide pharmacological intervention but did not provide much support or communication with the family. Fortunately, my family was able to spend every day with him and provide him with the support required to make him as comfortable as possible. The most disturbing was that my father was placed at the end of the hall and after this daily visit once per shift by the nurse, there was no check- ins by the aides other than the alert bell that he could ring. The thing is when we rang, it was longer then 10 to 15 minutes before anyone would show up and at times it could be 30 to 40 minutes. No aide was stationed outside in the hall, so I spent much of my time searching for help. There were four occasions, I found them on their cell phones in empty rooms. Rarely, did not see supervisors on the floor making periodic checks on both him and staff. Basically, any assistance received other than the bare minimum, was mostly reactive not proactive. I would like to thank the nurse that did sit with him a few times during the end as his anxiety was severe and also the staff members that alerted me when his needs not being met. In the end, an aide assigned to my dad daily was treating me harshly, that I hired a private aide to stay with my father so that I could take a break from what appeared to be passive aggressive cruelty. This aide refused my father his last cup of coffee on his last day telling him the kitchen was closed, as my brother showed up and retrieved a cup in that kitchen. Previously, I did ask supervisor to speak to her but was told, that it was happening. I often wonder how she treated him while I was not present as he was somewhat helpless. Unfortunately, taking care of both my parents, I witnessed other facilities, and it is my opinion as a society, we must do better with the elderly. Working with the elderly and health care is a very difficult job. Owners and administrators must do better providing a caring emotionally and monetary rewarding environment for their staff. The response to these reviews asks the writer to call and discuss. Again, reactive, so I will offer my further input only if it is a proactive response.

Excellent place! My father-in-law is here for rehab right now…read more Personally, I don't do good in hospitals or facilities like that, but this place is very very nice! The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the security in this place is top notch. Everyone needs to sign in, get a visitors pass, and sign out when they leave. Even if you are going to your car for a second. The grounds are very well kept. And the inside is just as nice. I don't think I've ever seen a place like that, that nice! I cannot describe how nice it is lol! My father-in-law is in a wing where the people don't stay, they are there for short-term rehab. That area is a little dated, and isn't as nice as the rest of the building.... It reminds me of a sterile hospital. But the rest of the building where the permanent / partial live alone residents live is very nice. It feels like a hotel lol! There is a common area/ living room? That we hang out in. It is Very well kept. A small issue is the parking lot isn't big enough if there are many visitors. I had to wait 20 minutes for a spot the other day.... While other people kept parking illegally! I didn't know that you could park across the street at aldi or dollar store. All in all, it is a very nice facility. Slight parking issue, older part of the building isn't as nice, but super friendly staff, you can tell that they care about their jobs and where they work! If you or a loved one needs to go into rehab, this is definitely a top notch facility.

If you are looking to put your loved one in memory care (Reflections)The Bristal in Woodcliff Lake…read moreNJ is not the place to go. They are often understaffed in all areas of the facility. That is with aids, med techs, house keeping and activity coordinators. Lots of turnover at this location again in many departments. I recently moved my mom out of this facilities memory care unit after she was sent to the ER unresponsive due to dehydration. Doctor said her symptoms were a direct result of dehydration. The level of care is way below average. I found my mother wearing 2pull-ups many times. Even after several conversations and emails to the director it still happened. The tone in which some of the memory care staff speaks to the residence is inappropriate. Their redirecting skills at times are nonexistent. Yelling "Sit down" at someone isn't what these residents deserve or are paying for. Residents are locked out of their rooms all day long. One day a woman was sleeping (slumped over with her head on the table) at the dining table all afternoon then at 4:45pm moved to her dinner table to sleep with her head in the table through dinner. ???? Wheelchair bond residents are rolled in front of the community TV if it's not meal time. The residents that walk are often told to stay in the dining area so the aids can see them more easily. When the activities staff is short(which is often), the resident barely leave the dining area so incredibly sad, again not what they pay for. My mom regularly got the wrong clothes from House keeping. There is a full activities calendar yet more than half of the time the activities don't actually happen. They promote a weekly bus rides. Not sure that actually happened as there is only one licensed driver for the bus. Sales person that toured us around gave us incorrect information. Sorry I didn't listen to my gut and move her out sooner. Stay AWAY!

My (95 yrs old)aunt and uncle weren't in their apt, the front desk staff was too busy fraternizing to tell me they were at the dr's office Today, after three phone calls over the course of day, my uncle was not returning my phone calls. This is a man that usually goes to breakfast, lunch and then stays in his room for the remainder of the day. He has all his faculties and always returns his phone call. I still can't locate him. I called the facility over 45 minutes ago. I pray he's OK. Ridiculous

I know they are busy. I was on the 2nd floor which I think they call sub acute. Majority of the people there are seniors and live there full time. So if your young like me it can be a little frustrating to deal with the full time residents who can be annoying at times with the noise. I just told my aid that my room mate is causing undue noise and it was handled. I'm an esmoker so I was hassled a little bit about smoking near the building so I just moved to the parking lot in my wheelchair. Food is rated 6 out of 10 in my opinion.
