Do not do business with this company. Read the reviews about "the $200 cash deposit being taken due to a damaged prop." The exact same thing happened to me. They require $200 cash only for a deposit upfront. This company will claim that you damaged their prop, and that you were at fault, therefore you will not get your cash deposit back. They did not take pictures prior to getting in to the boat. But they will blame you. I never like to leave bad reviews, but this company deserves it. Stay away from these guys. read more

I wouldn't even give this one star. The worst customer service I have dealt with. I called inquiring about certain policies and to confirm my reservation. They had it reserved on the wrong day in their system, but my confirmation email I received was correct. Traveling from out of town, that's the only day I could rent the boat. I asked for a refund because I am only in town Saturday, but Cedar creek had me down for Sunday. This was an error on Cedar Creeks part, but wouldn't issue a refund. I was told, I can use the rental another time within a year. That makes no sense. So if you want my advice, there are other Marina's in the area that won't steal $500 from you and might acknowledge and wrong doing if there was. So now I can't rent a boat at all because Melody says there isn't any available and they won't give me a single penny back. Not to mention, the Manager Joy is no help. What a mess of an experience. First of all they didn't give you a heads up that on top of the money you spent they wanted a $200 deposit cash only. Why? No paper trail. And what do you know? They kept the full $200 for a "compromised propellor" that they never took pictures of that they conveniently pulled up after. On top of that we were stranded in the middle of the lake for over an hour because of insufficient oil. When we got back they claimed they had showed up their perfect propellor before, which they didn't. So be prepared to pay that additional "deposit"if you want to rent get ready to spend the full $700 because they will play you. I will never give you my business again. I'm going to start by saying that I was very close to not making my reservation due to some of the recent reviews, however I spoke with the manager and decided to move forward. I rented the double decker pontoon with a slide. The staff was very helpful and pulled the boat up and parked it when I returned. I had no problems with the boat and kept it clean and didn't ruin it and got my $200 deposit back no problem. The rental was $200 plus tax and $14 in gas. Honestly for the price you can't beat it. Sure the pontoons could be newer or nicer but you're not going to pay $200. I had a great experience and tipped the staff for making my morning a memorable one. read more

However, after calling around to every marina on Old Hickory we found daily slips at Cedar Creek. The women up front working were very nice and accommodating! We ended up eating one night at Fishtails; the restaurant attached to the marina. They have live music on the weekends that starts around 7. Food was ok and service was great to us. We rented a slip there last year and paid for our trailer to be stored there as well. We paid for the entire year plus storage for the year. We had it tagged and everything. They did a lot of moving trailers last summer due to different construction and expansion projects going on. Apparently, they even moved them again last fall. Needless to say, it's a new boat season and my trailer has been stolen. The manager is new and she says she's never seen my trailer. Since she's new, I can believe that. However, I can NOT believe someone else who said that they had NEVER seen my trailer but yet described it perfectly, including color and logos. That person was working there last year. The guys/kids at the dock said none of the dials work and to just call them if we run out of gas and get stranded... they'll get someone to us in an hour or two. When we returned it, we told them the gauges didn't work and the anchor is covered in mud and jammed in to the bay to the point where we couldn't get it out.. and they said "prove it"... hah like what? Boaters beware!! I purchased a boat several months ago that was in a paid slip at this marina. Upon purchase myself and the previous owner went to the "office" and provided my information to change the owner file including insurance, phone, email, copy of sale slip, etc. At that time the manager said just come in and let him know if I was going to extend the lease or not. This marina is farther away from home for me, so I was looking for a more local spot. About a month later I went in and said I'm not going to renew the lease, I'm going to be moving it closer to home, but our time here has been great what do I need to do with the end. He said just pull the boat by the end of the lease, drop off the key fob and that's it. About a month later the previous owner contacted me to say she received a rental renewal invoice, stating that her lease was paid through the end of July. I said thanks for letting me know, I will reach out and remind them that I'm that I'm not renewing, and I will have it out by July 31. Next time I was at the marina, went into the office again, the manager could not be found, but the person at the desk assured me everything was set for July 31. I was just feeling a little nervous because all I had was an invoice addressed to the previous owner confirming the end of the lease date so clearly they didn't update the file with my information provided. Fast forward to me being out of town for the Fourth of July holiday, the previous owner called me and said I just got a call from the marina saying they were going to push your boat out in the lake because you had to be out by June 30, due to the end of the lease (she said in the voicemail they left they said your lease is up July 31 oh I mean June 30?). She gave them my phone number and said she would also call me. Now keep in mind, at this point I have not only spoken directly to the manager, provided written documentation of the transfer of the lease, but I've also spoken to at least two other people in the office confirming that this was paid up through July 31, as the invoice the previous owner provided to me confirmed. I tried to call the office, they said they would give the manager a message to call me, the previous owner did the same. No call, no contact from that point so I figured it was just a miscommunication and all was well. When I get back in town I went to the marina and went out for a day on the boat - I arrived slightly nervous that my boat would not be there, but was very pleasantly surprised to see it was in the slip undisturbed. When I came back there was another boat in my slip. I called up to the office, as I had nowhere to put my boat, and after waiting quite a bit, the manager got on the phone and said I don't have your name or phone number anywhere on file, I didn't know that you weren't renewing the lease so I sold it to someone else. Hold on, whether I'm renewing the lease or not it was paid through July 31 as confirmed by him personally, and written documentation. Talk about shady! When I told him I had spoken to him personally and provided my information, he said that never happened, and even went so far as to tell me that the previous owner didn't have my contact information either. She's the one that called me when they called her during the Fourth of July weekend and said I spoke to them gave them your number, and I myself called back right after that and left a message with my number and my name and the slip number. This guy is a con artist at best! Anyway, he moved me to another slip, while I stood on the dock and waited for about an hour in the 90° July heat. The new slip owner came to his boat during that time and said he thought it was a little weird because they called him to tell him a slip had opened up in July, but were a little sketchy on when he could pull the boat in, and he came to check it out earlier in July and of course my boat was there and they told him up it's just a miscommunication don't worry it will be ready for you when you're ready to pull it in as his boat was in the shop for repairs at that point. He said when he came in that day the slip was open so he assumed all was well, but did find it I bet the locker was still full, and in fact my gas can and wagon was sitting on the side of the dock because we had just loaded up for the day and gone out. SHADY DEALINGS!!!! The marina restaurant is delicious and extremely friendly, the rest of the office staff don't know much about the slip rentals but but are very nice. Highly recommend the guys at the dock that help out with the gas. They are great! But this manager is someone to watch out for!! He received double rent for the month of July on the slip, and not only did not offer any type of refund, but not even an apology for his shady business dealings. Boaters beware! read more

Tell you that you get the full deposit back unless you damage the boat, then take all the gas out of your deposit (they hide how much gas it is). the gas gauge (and most other gauges) on our boat didn't work, then when we returned it, they said it worked fine and we were lying... the dock master with no hair is the biggest piece of shit that i've ever encountered. that man needs to be fired immediately. read more

I have been here 3 times and each time, I'm disgusted with the workers and now I vow never to go back. If you decide to come here, check the entire boat, take 100 photos of EVERYTHING because they will try to charge you for anything they can! From the front desk to the dock - BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! The front desk was so helpful with all of our questions and concerns - especially with our fear of damaging the prop on a lake we had never experienced. We came by a couple of days early to get the information on our concerns, view the boats, and talk with the customer service agent about refunds, the reviews, and she was fantastic. The dockworkers gave us a tour of the boats (by the way, if you reserve early - there are NO REFUNDS if it rains/thunderstorms) - We waited until that day to rent our boat - due to weather concerns - and since it looked fantastic - we met them at the door when they opened and asked for the particular boat that we liked on the day of our "walk through." We got it, they made sure we were comfortable with everything, let us take a photo of the prop before we left - and we were off. I will say that there were lots of little creatures who had built some very elaborate webs - but they seemed to have vacated them before we boarded. So make sure to take a little look before you sit down. The staff was very reassuring, told us how to avoid any damage and how to ensure we had a fantastic day. We followed their instructions and advice and can honestly say we had the BEST DAY in a very long time!! The bonus 30% coupon on the brochure was an added blessing! Thank you for a much needed day at the lake - will be coming back very, very soon!! read more

This is a review of the campground, it is right next to the marina. There was a mix up on our reservation, even though information was shared with the campground host, and our site was reserved. We ended up overpaying for our spot, but didn't complain until we got a knock at our door and was told to leave because of their mix up. I called the office, but no one answered the phone. We were prepared to leave the following morning and I wasn't feeling well and I refused to go anywhere because of their error. Aside from that, the lawnmowers and blowers started trimming the lawns before 8 AM. We stayed two nights and wanted rest for the next leg of our trip and were bothered by this early morning interruption. However this is a lovely park, with what appears that there are some full timers living there. There are clean bathrooms nearby and we didn't check for laundry service. I think this park has potential of deserving more stars than I gave, but given our experience, I think three stars was more than fair. read more

This is a great place to eat and party! Live bands on the weekends with drink specials. They have made major improvements to this Marina over the last year. They have also added a lot of great food to the menu. Many of these issues that people have complained about in past have been resolved. I complained a lot about the service in past but, the new management has worked very hard to improve the quality and service. read more

Lost my $200 deposit as well, and actually had to pay an additional $40 on top of it. They charged us $170 for a new propeller plus gas. Before going out, we specifically asked the guy that took us to our boat if there was anything we should look out for. We told him we were not familiar with the area or that particular lake, but we both grew up boating and know there can be issues. The guy was not helpful at all, but was sure to take a picture of the prop before we left. We should've walked away then. Also, the boat was dirty and half of the gauges, specifically the depth gauge, did not work. It didn't take long to see how patchy and treacherous the lake was. We were in the middle of the lake and started churning up debris. We spent most of our time watching out for shallow patches and trying not to damage the damn prop. When we came back we started talking with a local woman who told us the lake was notorious for debris and shallow spots, and was actually more like a river. We mentioned to the person taking our money that it would've been nice for them to have given us a heads up on the lake conditions. But they're only interested in your money. Honestly $170 for a prop? As often as this seems to happen I'm sure they've got them on a bulk discount. Give me a freaking break. Only go if you like parting with your money. The good first; They have a catfish dinner on Friday's for $11 that's great! We couldn't eat but 1/l2 because there was so much food! Good food and our waitress was super sweet! Now the bad; the bathrooms are single toilets. I walked in and turned to lock the door when someone tried to jerk the door open. I didn't say anything thinking the locked door said it all. Then I sat down and someone pulled the door again. I hollered out thinking that anyone with manners would wait. Then as I was washing my hands the door starts rattling again - I yelled back the third time! All the while this same man and woman have been yelling at the young man in the men's room that he needed to unlock the door. I figured they were just drunk jerks. Nope it's one of the servers! Then she doesn't apologize but says I thought you were stuck in there (you have to left up on the door knob) but I think she was just being a jerk. I was shocked. We had a great dinner and are finishing our drinks and talking and enjoying the great weather when she comes over (not our server but the same little jerk from the bathroom) and wants to know when we are leaving because someone is waiting for our table! The table right beside us was empty but she wanted us to leave?! There were empty tables everywhere! I wanted to say something to the manager but my husband was tired and just wanted to go home. Since we live half a mile down the street this is a great spot for us and the food is great which is why I gave it three stars but it should have been 5. I took my Lady to your marina at 4:00 on Saturday to have us a bite to eat and to relax after a day on the water, when we arrived at your restaurant there was plenty of boat parking and one of your staff members helped us tie up behind TWRA and leaving a 10ft space between them so they could pull out. While waiting for our food we notice one of your crew members was on my boat untying my boat to move it back to another location to fit a pontoon between us and twra, I ran out there and told the crew member to not touch my boat and the pontoon should find another parking place since the place was empty and there was plenty of room to park other places, well I go back into the marina and speak with the twra crew about your staff and their boat also. Well then go to finish my dinner and pay the bill, as I am untying my boat 5 of your crew members walked up behind me and stated "if you don't like the way I run this marina take your ass elsewhere" I then stood up and all 5 of your crew members tried to fight me in front of my woman and your customers over them getting on my boating and trying to move my boat with out my permission. Twra was then called by your staff, I meet TWRA out on the water as they was driving in and spoke with them on this issue and what to do to get this issue taken care of. If this is how your workers run your marina you need to some house cleaning of your staff, the unprofessional crew of young kids that run the marina is a joke, we have been there many times before with other boaters and always had a great time, after this issue I'll make sure we all go to a different marina read more

Thank goodness for the previous reviews on renting a boat! We made sure to take pictures of the prop before leaving that morning and when we returned, sure enough the "Marina Manager" Mike tried to blame us for how bad it was. He said he would never let a prop go out like that and insisted we must have hit something. Not only was he not present at the start of the day when we rented the boat (like a marina manager should be) but tried to claim the employee who sent us out was new, no man, we've seen him multiple times. When we showed him the time stamped pictures of the prop he demanded his team take the boat over to maintenance right away and have it changed. I call BS because it was the same boat with the same prop we rented weeks earlier and no one said anything to us when we returned it last time. You get what you pay for here.. be sure to take pictures of the prop or they will try this SCAM on you too and keep the $200 CASH deposit. Convenient if you're camping down the street at the park. Live music. The food is ok. Mostly burgers and fried stuff. They have a bar. You can park your boat to hang out and listen to the band. It was owned a few years ago by an odd old man who let it get run down. And the atmosphere was just off. Its not like that anymore. The newest owners have cleaned it up and made huge improvements to the property. We have a slip there and are very happy with it. When the weather is not suitable for boating the marina is a good place to meet and hang out. read more

My husband and I were hanging out, having a great time listening to the band, a very nice gentleman invited us on his boat, a treat for us because we've been looking at getting a boat. My husband had to go home to check on our dog and said he'd be back in an hour. This nice gentleman and I walk over to where the locals were hanging out on the docks and a rough looking old mean woman started giving me a hard time, 'where was my husband' 'what kind of husband would leave me with another guy' she went on harassing me for about 30 minutes until I had enough and asked her who was she to judge me. The owner Carol jumped up defending this trailer park trash and kicked me out with no car there and no way to get home. We live close by and after they lifted eating in restaurants we decided to go to Cedar creek for dinner. We have been here before and it was always okay. Fast forward to tonight, very few people in the restaurant area and we thought the service would be relatively quick. The drinks took forever but not as long as the food! 1 hour for a salad and fish and chips! They assumed my wife liked ranch, and who eats fish with ketchup?! Not me, they said they didn't have tartar sauce? I can understand if you were out of toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or paper towels. I give up. We tried 3 times this year to visit this place and found that they closed at 6 for the winter. Winter i can understand but March and April in TN? Finally got to go. Lots of other people must have been waiting too. The place was full. Not over crowded, but full. And they did not prepare. Not enough servers or bar tenders. This is a review of the campground area associated with the marina. Every year we have a family reunion at the campgrounds here and it is always a pleasure. The staff are friendly, considerate and helpful (they're volunteers!). The grounds and equipment are well maintained. There is a beach with a shallow sand grade into the lake where even young children can safely play. There are lots of large shade trees, several covered areas to grill, a children's playground and a sand volleyball court. You may have to reserve a location well in advance due to the popularity. It is a wonderful place to spend a few hours or an entire day. read more

We had a group of 13 that arrived by boat. We waited almost 2 hours for food. Yes 2 hours from the time we ordered from the window. Someone suggested to the owner, to hire a wait staff. His comment, "When you have six million dollars you can run it the way you want" Ouch! What a great way to talk to your customers. The marina was busy but not extremely busy, we found several tables to accomatate the large group. There were several people demanding their money back for the 2 hour wait for food. The staff's comment "it's not fast food". Wow, we've been eating at Cedar Creek for years. The new owners have some customer service to learn. PREPARE TO LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT!!! I was so shocked/excited to find a boat that was available two weeks before Labor Day that I never read any reviews of this company! We rented a double decker boat with my family. Headed out of the cove and water was gushing over the back deck! Soaked all of our bags, food, and towels. I don't know much about boats but I do know water is not supposed to be coming up over the back! Maybe In the front if you are in choppy water...... we had just turned out of the cove and I called the Marina. Mike (who apparently runs the boats) got on the phone and I explained what was happening. He headed out because he needed to make sure we were safe. An hour later, 32 text messages including a map with circles on where we were located, 6 phone calls he couldn't find us. I explained numerous of times that we had just pulled out of the cove and we went right. He asked if I could see power lines and I said we are right before those. Still couldn't find us. Started getting frustrated with me and talking to me like I was stupid. I apologized for wasting his time and that he had gone 5 miles out of his way looking for us. I reiterated again that there was no need to go that far down because we had only gone less then a mile. He started telling me about nautical miles and how I should always know my surroundings! (I'm 38 years old with my parents and family) Mike finally finds us, immediately starts yelling at us that we are in dangerous water that is two feet deep! We had already gone off the slide and jumped off the top deck multiple times( Everyone on the boat was 5'9 to 6'5, no one ever touched the bottom) Never once looked at the water coming over the deck while moving. Just said there was nothing wrong with the boat and told us he would show us a "safe" cove to swim in. Told us to follow him, stayed in front of us the entire time and once again never looked at all the water coming over the back. He took us right back in the cove by the marina and told us to hang out there! I called Mike and just explained we wanted to make sure we weren't going to sink and we were going to ride up the lake. I sent a picture to a friend who knows a lot about boats. He told me that was not normal and to stay close to the marina that there was probably water in the toons. After two hours of dealing with Mike, we started enjoying our day. On our way back in for the day, we were pulled over by TWRA. He asked if we had started the day with everyone on the boat because the back end was dragging too far in the water and looked like it was sinking! We were almost back to the marina when management called and asked if we were lost. (We were an hour early turning the boat in) I politely said no we were pulling in to fuel up the boat. We started to fuel but the gauge was broke. A worker came out and said he would handle fueling up. I went in to get my $200 deposit back and sign out to find out Mike decided we damaged the boat and they were keeping our deposit. I explained the entire story to the lady running the office and she did not care. Told me Mike makes all the final decisions. I asked to see what we damaged and she said I would have to wait until Mike came back in from going out to find another boat that was lost. My husband and I were talking while we were waiting on Mike to return about my Uncle knowing the two TWRA officers who pulled us over. About three minutes later we got our $200 deposit back. When asked about the damage we caused, she said she got us confused with another boat. Never apologized for the boat, never apologized that we got pulled over because there was something wrong with the boat, and tried to keep our deposit! We then had to pay $41 in gas when we only went less then one NAUTICAL Mile!!!! After calming down, we decided to eat dinner at the restaurant attached and have a drink. Walked up and they close at 5pm on Labor Day weekend! I will find myself another location to rent a boat next time! Be Prepared! You have been warned by many people with the same experience! read more
