At Most of the Tee-boxes I needed a hammer just to get my tee in the ground deep enough to hold a ball. The greens were very rough and most had large patches of dirt in the middle of them. There beer and spirits prices are like most restaurants' happy hour prices, and you can watch sports on there TVs with sound all day long. It's just a fanatic place to hangout with your friends. Everyone's got to check this place out! Golf, good food, drinks, beer, and sports...what more can you ask for?

I booked the lodge on line and thought it would meet my needs. Well, it did not. At $90 plus a night in Glenwood, Arkansas, you would expect something pretty good. It wasn't. First of all, the guest lodge is 2 miles down a dirt road from the clubhouse and front desk. So if you need another key, or if there is a problem you either have to drive back to the desk OR call and hope they can send someone to you to help. If you lock yourself out and do not have a cell phone you are SOL as there is no one around to help. Second, when I drove over to the lodge (I was assigned the "older" building which appeared to be a converted house) and let myself in, the woman who happened to be there cleaning informed me that the water was not drinkable because there had been a water main break in town and there was a boil order. Funny thing was that the two people that checked me in did not mention that. So this meant a trip into town to get a gallon of water and a bag of ice. If she hadn't been working when I got there I could very well be listing dysentery as one of my complaints. Third, the common kitchen area REEKED of old cooking odors and general mustiness. Fourth, even though I was only one of a couple of rooms occupied, they gave me a depressing, dark old room that was basically at the basement level with a high window that looked out at a brick wall. Fifth, the "gazebo" area that had the hot tub was dirty and furnished with broken and musty furniture. I didn't dare lift the lid to the hot tub and check it out. Sixth, as I checked out I mentioned to the man working that I was less than enthused about my accommodations. He chuckled and advised me to "stay in the newer building next time." There will be no next time. I do not in any way shape or form recommend this place as a place to stay over night unless you plans are to play golf, get drunk, and crash.

In the fall it was hard to say how the up keep was due to a few people trying to keep up with the fall leaves. Through out the winter months leaves were cleared and fairways, greens and tee boxes showed the remnants of hot Texas days, fall debris and ice storms. Excited to see spring growth, new grounds keepers that work tirelessly to make improvements. Now that summer is here and truly being a Texas hot summer once again greens keepers working hard to keep up and making it the best the heat throws at them. As far as layout my personal opinion is it still is challenging, fun and honestly a nice place to play a round, my husband and I go almost every day! Very family friendly! I have played other courses, fancy ones, small ones, and others in Texarkana also. For someone who plays to improve and have fun Oak Grove Golf Club is my home course and I love it, the staff has always been kind and very helpful.

Internet reviews say what a hidden gem this course is. Well its hidden from the lack of maintenance. Tee boxes chewed up need mowing, fairways need mowing, greens (what grass there is) need mowing. The whole aesthetics of the course is horrible everything is overgrown and wild looking. At one point i had to laugh at a fairway bunker with a rake in it and no sand just red clay and big rocks. You will learn what the correct golf swing looks and feels, if you put in the effort. Slicefixer's instructions starts with a step by step of checklist forged through years of teaching and revelations from visual stimulation. This is the Slicefixer way, you will learn the road map to get there. And it will take a tremendous amount of work, which he will draw out in a military training style regiment.
