We recently reopened Cedar Creek in Broken Bow. New greens, lots of trees removed and lots and lots of top soil. Just getting started, but it's looking good! Would definitely recommend when in the area. Tucked back in the woods, it's beautiful.

Literally gravel fairway approaching the green.

I am 44 years old and am an average golfer but have played a lot of different courses here and there over the years and I have never seen a course in worse condition than this one. The greens were dead and bare with only minimal patches of grass. The fairways were mostly clover and patches of dirt and literally gravel in some areas. (See pics) It made the whole round a joke. I would only recommend this course to a bachelor party full of guys that are gonna drink so much during the round that no one will care about anything especially the score. The worst part is they have to audacity to charge $40 green fees. I'm not sure where this money goes but it's definitely not to the upkeep of the course.

You do not want to stay at the lodge. I booked three nights at the guest lodge because I was in…read moreGlenwood dealing with my sister's estate. I booked the lodge on line and thought it would meet my needs. Well, it did not. At $90 plus a night in Glenwood, Arkansas, you would expect something pretty good. It wasn't. First of all, the guest lodge is 2 miles down a dirt road from the clubhouse and front desk. So if you need another key, or if there is a problem you either have to drive back to the desk OR call and hope they can send someone to you to help. If you lock yourself out and do not have a cell phone you are SOL as there is no one around to help. Second, when I drove over to the lodge (I was assigned the "older" building which appeared to be a converted house) and let myself in, the woman who happened to be there cleaning informed me that the water was not drinkable because there had been a water main break in town and there was a boil order. Funny thing was that the two people that checked me in did not mention that. So this meant a trip into town to get a gallon of water and a bag of ice. If she hadn't been working when I got there I could very well be listing dysentery as one of my complaints. Third, the common kitchen area REEKED of old cooking odors and general mustiness. Fourth, even though I was only one of a couple of rooms occupied, they gave me a depressing, dark old room that was basically at the basement level with a high window that looked out at a brick wall. Fifth, the "gazebo" area that had the hot tub was dirty and furnished with broken and musty furniture. I didn't dare lift the lid to the hot tub and check it out. Sixth, as I checked out I mentioned to the man working that I was less than enthused about my accommodations. He chuckled and advised me to "stay in the newer building next time." There will be no next time. I do not in any way shape or form recommend this place as a place to stay over night unless you plans are to play golf, get drunk, and crash.

Golf course is gorgeous with many scenic holes. Went to clubhouse for dinner and it was also good. Husband and son got the steak special and I had salmon. The place was busy so our order took a little while to arrive but not a big deal to us but they gave us free dessert! Again can't say enough about how nice the service is. We stayed at the Greens Lodge on the property. Rooms are clean and very big. Also has large group gathering area. Would be good place to host golf outings with groups of friends.

The most revealing second in my golf life was the first time I saw Slicefixer's video dissecting…read morethe differences between the releases back in 2010. Which led down the path to the 9-3, a lot of chats with Russc, and finally the trip to see Geoff Jones. Geoff Jones as a person is a cocktail created by a stern upbringing of a southern lawmen father, and a strong distaste for not winning it all in competitive golf. This blend of Hogan like work ethic mixed with a curiosity to seek out the secret, he looked for the truth through video study much like the X and O's in present day NFL, Jon Gruden style. But be careful about bringing up unsubstantiated golf theories, as you will be met by a cold glare that can cut down forests faster than any chainsaw crew. While his personality might be a bit brash for the commentating styles on the Golf Channel, but the truth is what distinguish the Slicefixer from any others in Golf instruction. And he will back it up, in visual evidence and on the range. Slicefixer golf facility is a utilitarian driven teaching bay where the golf instruction ticks more reliable than an atomic watch. Rain or shine this place echoes with the thumps of ball striking. While some of his training methods are thrown together more like Larry the Cable Guy than the surgical refinement of a Mercedes Benz, they are highly functional, and they have 1 singular focused goal in mind. You will learn what the correct golf swing looks and feels, if you put in the effort. Slicefixer's instructions starts with a step by step of checklist forged through years of teaching and revelations from visual stimulation. First he will film your swings from several angles, then on to the Grip, posture, back swing. Each with a purpose, laid out on the surgical table and scrutinized to within 1/2 a degree of angles. Then its on to a film study session and explanations of why certain things appear the way they do but in reality it's the polar opposite. Followed by range session where he explains each lesson by illustrating feel and drills to ingrain it. But it does not feel like a system, this is the part that is difficult to explain, lets just say the knowledge you walk away with enforces the Slicefixer ideas with a clarity like no other classroom. This is the Slicefixer way, you will learn the road map to get there. And it will take a tremendous amount of work, which he will draw out in a military training style regiment. Conclusion, walking away from this place brings a empty sadness. It's like leaving the golf meca after the pilgrimage, while you have experienced it, it's hard to be without. Like stopping at just one strip of thick crunchy slice of country bacon. The mechanics, work ethic, mental approach enforced at every bullet point with his trademark terms(Scrape and rake, Busting it). The only focus the Slicefixer will out line for you is brutally simple, Your body will be honed in to a Hardcore Golf Machine if you can follow the way. Albert Einstein once said "Information in not knowledge", and that's the secret of the Slicefixer method. Intelligent and focused workout along with the knowledge is the key to becoming a great golfer. This is the accelerated course in golf, skipping all the local golf instructor BS and regurgitated decade old golf digest article tips. After the 3 day golf buffet with Geoff Jones, I am focused, armed and now ready to start my own golf journey.
