BEWARE: Super shady place…read more 10 years ago they were good and reliable. Then the owner got rid of all the guys who were competent at running the shop and replaced them with another bunch of guys who had no plating competence at all. The last couple of projects sent in for Electroless nickel plating began showing surface corrosion about 4 weeks after treatment with no direct exposure to salt air or abnormal moisture. Unfortunately it was an even bigger mistake to take the parts back to be re-done as no one there seems to understand the process -- they put the parts back in the acid bath for so long that the parent material was compromised, eaten all the way through the steel tubing in several places. Literal holes in the metal, completely ruined. After using this business regularly for years and then experiencing these issues, when contacted for refunds and reimbursements for ruined materials the owner went on an expletive laden rant that ended with an emphatic statement that TFC does not need any repeat business. See photos for an example of one of many items destroyed by the incompetence and indifference of Technical Finishes & Coatings.

Great first impression. Then I dropped my items off on 3/23/21 and the staff member was friendly in helping me unload them and getting my information. Both Derek and the staff member quoted me a two week lead time, meaning I was expecting them sometime around the week ending 4/9/21. I pick I know this isn't an exact science and projects can take longer, so I gave some extra time and waited to reach out for an update until 4/16/21. I left a voicemail asking for a callback on the status. Never got a callback. I gave them another 10 days. Then on 4/26/21, I replied to my prior email chain with Derek and asked for an update. No response to that yet either. It's been 5 weeks versus the estimate of 2 weeks and no updates at all. At this point I'm just hoping they haven't lost my $3000 of parts I just bought. Will update review as this progresses. Update: Called again on 5/3/21, someone answered the phone, and confirmed that my order had been done for weeks. They apologized no one had reached out to me, or returned my prior attempts to contact them. Finished product looked great, really happy with how it turned out. Also came in at the price I was quoted, another plus. Just have to expect that customer service will be lacking, and it's on the customer to continually try to catch someone in the office for an update.

My family has lived in the Tualatin area for around 40years. We are business owners ourselves and…read morepersonally know a good portion of the other business owners too. We have always believed in keeping our business needs as local as possible, even when it is more expensive and difficult to do so. We have had the need for quality powder coating from time to time so we decided to try TUFCOAT in Tualatin. We recently had a project (complete and total Restoration of a beautiful and original, antique cast aluminum table) that needed many separate parts done with a two step process including a base coat. Which was BTW twice the price and very expensive but their staff convinced us this was the best and necessary way to go so we trusted them and agreed to the seemingly extravagant costs. We waited quite a bit longer than they had projected and finally were called to come get our finished product. Well...when we first received it everything looked great however when we actually got started putting things together we noticed that several of the parts were not only unusable but in fact almost completely destroyed! We were mostly surprised by the fact that that their supposedly professional and experienced staff not only didnt say anything about the damage but that we were subsequently charged and allowed to return home with our destroyed and unusable parts! (this was the first mistake and waste of time) Then.....Since I knew the destroyed parts would need to be replaced I personally took the time to go out and find (not easy because they were very specific types and sizes and even at that the exact copy was NOT REPLACEABLE because they were antique so we had to go with something "like" the original) and purchase them. (more wasted time) THEN...When we finally got everything together we call TUFCOAT to bring the whole thing to their attention and ask for their help in fixing the dilemma, first with no apology or concern whatsoever they told us that parts were like that we brought them to them (which is completely impossible because it wouldnt have been able to stay together if these parts were in the same condition as when we removed them. As a matter of fact we quite were surprised at how good the condition was considering the age of the table. Anyway.....we simply asked them to re-coat the new parts WE had purchased without asking for ANY type of reimbursement or even mentioning the high degree of difficulty, time and effort their total incompetence had already caused. Sooooo...after making us jump through several hoops...sending pictures, re-explaining to different people and FINALLY getting to the Owner herself To my complete surprise and disappointment she not only refused to help us but told us that it was because "the cost of the setup (and at this point she reminded me how much I had already paid to get my parts destroyed) for this two step process they had convinced us to user cost more than it was worth to fix and that our project was small compared to most of their work! HORRIBLE business practice and MORALLY corrupt!! I really seriuosly cant understand why or how they could or would act or treat ANYONE this way for ANY reason! We were VERY nice to them! NOW....we will NEVER use their services again and will be suing them for not only the costs we paid but also the cost to replace our parts and anything else we can legally recover! Our lawyers are writing as we speak! Remember....it wasnt the money or even all the wasted time..it was they way we were treated after the fact! Thank you sooo much TUFCOAT for the VERY negative experience and ALL the wasted time, effort and feelings!

My 2019 Forest River travel trailer developed a crack in the frame where the axle bracket is welded…read moreto the frame. I spent several months going through inspections with their authorized service center and had to wait while Forest River and the frame manufacturer developed a repair plan. In the end, the service center was unable to do the repair and my alternatives were to either drive my trailer to their plant in Indiana or find a local welder. Jeff at Furrion has great reviews and a friend also recommended him. He developed a plan similar to Forest Rivers' and repaired the cracks (he found a crack starting on the opposite axle weld as well) and welded 30 x 4-1/2 inch 1/4 inch plates on both sides of the frame, as well as some 2 x 2 angle iron to reinforce the frame both in front of and behind the axle welds. I am extremely happy with the results of the repair and will not hesitate to have Jeff do any future repairs or fabrication I might need. Forest River has also stepped up and agreed to reimburse me the cost of the repair as it met their plan specifications. I would add that another RV repair shop that does perform welding services refused to even attempt this job. Thanks again Jeff!
