I asked if we could test a working foot controller to rule it out as an issue. The foot controller they plugged in not only did not work but caused the machine to spark! I was told I can leave my machine and get a free estimate in 5-6 weeks. Through further discussion, I was encouraged to purchase a new, more expensive brand of machine because evidently Singer and Brother machines are cheap crap from China. (Their sentiment, not mine. I've sewed on a Singer all my life and so has my mother.) I opted not to leave my machine. Once home, I ordered a new foot controller online which just arrived and solved my problem. Also ordered some sewing machine oil and now plan to do maintenance myself. I was hoping to support a local small business and maybe build a relationship for future service but the way they handled my situation has guaranteed I'll be looking elsewhere in the future. Perhaps if they spent a few minutes ruling a few simple things out when machines come in they wouldn't have "a hundred machines" in queue for repair.

I tried resetting it in the electrical box to no avail. After speaking to Mike in a pretty lengthy phone call, he didn't think my issue was the cook top itself, he thought it was an electrical issue. He said he could come out and check it out for a $175 house call ( we live in rural Washougal) but he was pretty sure he would only be telling me we need an electrician and we'd be out the $$. I thanked him for being forthright and we ended up consulting an electrician and Mike was right! It was a minor electrical issue. I will keep Mikes phone number handy though for future need on our aging appliances.

I left two vacuums on consignment in hopes they could sell them; I haven't heard any more about that. I am concerned about the lack of community compassion in the reviews I've read. If there was illness, and possibly death, the surviving partner in the company has a huge load on his shoulders. If the person who was ill is still living but needing 24/7 care, again, a huge load for the surviving person. If in response to all of this stress, he had to close the storefront, that is an extremely stressful situation for that person. I know from personal experience that 24/7 care and death are both very difficult to deal with. I'm willing to give Tim or Norm or both some slack. I don't believe they are evil-doers who plotted to steal my vacuums, or someone else's sewing machine. I prefer to believe they are honest businessmen in a very tough situation, doing the best they can. And by the way, if a business is unreachable by phone or in person, I don't think you need to warn people (in all caps, yet) not to do business with them. I think the situation makes that clear all by itself.

Only 4 stars due scheduling issues and taking quite a while for the final bill, but I think it was due to a change in project management. The new project manager had a lot of jobs to handle when he first came onboard. Not his fault. The area is very spread out and not enough contractors. They went through the charges and contract thoroughly and we knew the processes we were beholden to. Very transparent which is so lacking in this industry.
