Let's face it, Channel 2 hasn't been THE Ten O'Clock News for a while now, but then again, save for Chicago Tonight, television journalism in Chicago isn't as rigorous as it was in the Jacobson/Kurtis days. Nonetheless, there are several reasons why you should tune into CBS 2 news every now and then: Number One is investigative reporter Pam Zekman, a munchkin of an elderly woman with thinning hair who has been at Channel 2 since color came to television. The sharpness of Pam's coordinated wardrobe is trumped only by the incisiveness of her reporting: she once simulated falling hardware from the 'L' structure by dropping a huge nail on a cantaloupe from 20 feet up. Number Two: Channel 2's salacious teasers and vapid reporting look splendid in 1080p. The station has taken a cue from crime television and each of their promos spots lure viewers to find out what happens with crystal clear video and dramatic narration. While many of CBS 2's stories are ridiculous--I can't count the number of times I've seen Dorothy Tucker do stories that involve a trip to Walgreen's--you've got a front row seat and a crystal clear view of Chicago's latest scams and deals. Number Three: Walter Jacobson's back. Walter offers his Perspective on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and he has yet to re-master the teleprompter or offer any real insight into current events. At this point, Walter is more Andy Rooney than Mike Royko. Number Four: Kristyn Hartmann. What planet is this woman from? Where did she learn to speak English with those remarkably unique inflections. It's all very dramatic and she's at her best during the post-segment banter with Rob Johnson. With the recent departure of Anne State, there's only one strangely hyper-emotive female reporter. And this one is perfect. read more

Ever wanted to report breaking news in a hurry...and tried to reach your local news room by phone or email? Well you can't with CBS 2 Chicago...because their phone number now belongs to Paramount+...and their reporters don't publish their email addresses...so I'm going to report my breaking news to one of their competitors instead...‍ read more

Giving Thanks this Thanksgiving for seeing Brad Edwards anchoring tonight's 10 PM news. No disrespect to others, but have always been impressed with sincere pleasant delivery. So generous. As he spoke of Bob Wallace and others with such sincere respect, I believe Brad is on the same quality level as the all time best of any news person. I am not a streamer so I look forward to seeing more of him on regular broadcasts. Happy Holidays to you Brad and those who are close to you. read more

You used to be my go to for news but you have made some foolish changes. You replaced a very good news caster with Brad Edwards. Disregarding his werewolf looks and strange voice iOS delivery is unbearable. That combined with the loss of Jeff Glor sends me to ABC. read more

That new guy they stuck in to replace Rob Johnson is just creepy. And if they were looking for someone with the most grating voice in Chicago, they found him. The rest of the entire on-air collection of news readers could not be more bland, plastic, tedious, uninteresting and boring. read more

I just watched a sad story of a woman in Ukrainian Village with a rooftop pool that gets too much tree seeds blowing in during the months of June. It also clogs up her AC. The real story, "who is this lady?" We have people with serious problems in Chicago. So we get a sob story about a woman with a rooftop pool? These CBS 2 people are sick. They followed that up with a story about how golf is good for your health. Really... read more

Another beautiful Sunday afternoon, another miserable broadcast by CBS!

Getting rid of Rob Johnson was a big mistake! Rob was likable not like his replacement Brad. I'm sure Brad is a great guy but not for this job. What is wrong with CBS your ratings are not going to get better making rash decisions. It's hard to watch Brad with Erikka theres definitely no chemistry between them. Bring Rob Johnson back read more

Just saw a news report that for millenials to be happy they need to make $80,000 a year. Money can not buy happiness. With poor reporting like this no wonder young people are depressed using drugs. Please report accurate expectations of a happy life. Some of the happiest people make the least amount of money. read more

I DO NOT WATCH THE NEWS BUT I DO CARE ABOUT CHICAGO AND THIS OVERSIZED TV ON THE SIDE OF BLOCK 37 SHOULD BE FIXED. IT IS HORRIBLE AND LOOKS NOTHING LIKE THE PLAN!!! What news company needs a TV on the side of the building. It was supposed to be a band of news on the side of the building and we got a big TV. Chicago is not New York! We do not do crap like this. I vote we all boycott this until they fix it. Or maybe we should all watch so they can afford to finish the screen??? read more

Please replace the 9 volt battery in your transmitter so people can watch OTA.

This is NOT just against CBS only!!! ALL the city's sports reports have a NAP player falling while being introduced but if you look you will see him being tripped by a camera cable!!! read more

Does CBS really have to preempt the golf tournament twice for a half hour of coverage of the weather situation? I understand that there should be a warning -- the scroll at the bottom accomplishes that, or if it is really urgent, then a two-minute personal briefing would be sufficient. But do we really need to hear more than 15 minutes of analysis as if it is the Weather Channel? Do they really think this would somehow win viewers -- "oh, I'm going to watch CBS news from now on because because during the combined half hour they preempted the golf tournament I was so impressed by hearing about all kind of weather dynamics I couldn't care less about, so long as I'm warned to be careful?" I just don't get it. read more

OTA signal is being manipulated by CBS to prevent OTA users from seeing prime time shows. Really a lousy thing for them to do. I am surprised there aren't a lot more complaints about this terrible broadcast service. Advertisers should take notice a lot of people are not happy with this affiliate. read more

Contrary to other reviewers, I like Brad Edwards! Yes ... he is a bit theatrical but so what!! I usually switch from channels 2 to 5 to 7, but end up back to channel 2. Brad Edwards continues to be an investigative reporter, and does more than merely read the teleprompter. Hopefully, Irika Sargent will relax and give Brad a chance. Otherwise, she may be the next one to leave, which would be a shame. read more

New WBBM anchor Brad Edwards is a bit creepy. His delivery is awkward and body language is off putting.

I mainly watch the morning news. I watch 2,5,7 and 9 but mostly this one. I like the entire morning crew, they suit the morning well. The newer people are nice additions although I often think someone should drop off a good meal for Yasmeen. read more

How about some news instead of all this tabloid investigative crap. I used to watch all the time but now I turn on last 5 minutes before Colbert. read more

I am so tired of CBS junk signal. Oh, you added 48-3 in addition to 2? Yay, another channel that does not come in. I am 17 miles away! You have the wrong antenna you say, well, EVERY SINGLE CHICAGO TV STATION COMES IN WITH MY ANTENNA! Fix your garbage signal. read more

I'm not young -- 42 -- and originally from New York. I never watch Chicago TV news but I was looking in on a 95-year-old neighbor last week who was watching channel 2. I now understand why nobody under the age of 80 watches local news. It's obsolete and underestimates its audience. Some guy named Jay Levine, who looked older than my neighbor despite obvious attempts at surgical camouflage, read with such self importance I switched to CNN when no one was looking. Not a mammoth step up, but decent enough for background chatter. read more

Sunday night at 6pm, when we turn on TV to CBS to view 60 Minutes and later, when we want to watch The Good Wife we find that the Football Game, in which we have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST, by being allowed to go beyond its alotted, CLEARLY ANNOUNCED time-slot, has obliterated in large part the two programs we want to see. It is outrageous that CBS feels it can decide who gets to see what, despite the fact that people are paying a provider a goodly monthly sum, presumably to provide access to programs as listed. In this technological age, CBS should devise a way in which those whoeac want to watch the football game AND those who want to watch other programs, ALL IN THEIR ENTIRETY, can do so. CBS's procedural decision in this matter is feudal - and actionable! Paula G read more

No stars for this chicago news station. Their investigation reporting is biased and only gives "facts" from people who want to get on camera. I thought journalists were to gather all information before reporting a story, I guess CBS is only trying to help their ratings...awful news station. read more

Are they serious with this new Monsters in the Morning thing? Who wants to watch a bunch of old men argueing around a table in the morning? Give me the news, traffic and weather. You can even throw in sports if you want but this new show is more than I can handle in the morning. They should seriously fire whoever thought of this idea. I am guessing their ratings dropped! read more

Been watchin Channel 2 News for a long time like Rob, Steve, Ryan and even the weekend crew. Nothing against Kate Sullivan but I believe Mai Martinez would be a better fit with Rob at 5 and 10. Also would like to know why the closed captioning at the bottom of the screen during the sports just paraphrases the sports report when your competition is showing closed captioning of other games around the league, I believe this would be a lot more informative. I like the Kurtis/Jacobsen team and feel they are not appreciated enough. read more
