I called Chad on a Sunday after being recommended by Michael down at Discovery Bay Marina about a possible failed alternator. Chad was a true professional on the phone and was able to diagnose and replace the alternator on my 2007 Nautique 236 with an OEM replacement within a week of my initial call. His assistant Hannah is also very friendly as well. My boat runs as good as new now. Pricing was also very fair considering he was able to work directly out of the marina. Highly recommend Chad for all your boat repair needs in Discovery Bay! I will be using him for my maintenance going forward. read more

We've used CB Marine Service a couple of times and always felt Chad was knowledgeable, which is why we reached out again when we started having an issue with our houseboat engine. Chad came out on a Friday afternoon and seemed a little rushed. We honestly would have been completely fine waiting until Monday, and he told us he would return Monday to continue looking at the issue. I sent a text Sunday just to confirm a time so we could make sure we were available. I received a response Monday, which was totally understandable since it was the weekend. The receptionist said she would get a time for us, but we never heard back. We've paid for their services in the past and are more than willing to pay for the work we need. I just don't feel like I should have to chase someone down to give them our business. A quick text or update goes a long way. Unfortunately, we're now looking for another boat mechanic. read more

I worked with CB marine last season chasing a check engine light that would come on occasionally. When other mechanics told me it was normal don't worry about it CB Marine stuck with it, and were able to diagnose the problem and get it fixed. CB Marine is the only shop I would trust with my boat going forward. read more

Had Chad come out to my house to clear a code after I fixed the issue on my Malibu wakesetter and was able to help me out, now no more alarm code on my boat read more

Chad is a lying sack of ****. The king of unreliable, maker of false promises and any shred of trust? Forget it. It took him over a year to get me my boat back for doing an engine rebuild. And during that year, procrastination, lies, excuses and endless bs. I had to go full on detective just to find my boat. The police were useless because according to them, "I willingly gave him my boat for service" therefore they weren't interested. Yeah, it went that far. And now that it's done and over? The rebuilt engine is a gutless POS. The upholstery is yellowed from sitting out in the sun uncovered. I wish I had never met the man. Minus 10 stars. read more

Beware of CHAD!! He is a liar and a thief. He had our boat for 6 weeks and jerked us around. He would say he would call and then wouldn't return our calls or a texts. He would even get upset with us for trying to contact him after he said he would call us and didn't. He was very rude. He was shady and overall very unprofessional. We finally got our boat back and he didn't even fix one thing he said he had. He charged us $1000 to get it back from him and all for what? A huge headache and a waste of time. Our mirror fell off as we were towing the boat back. The cover was barely put on and our deck was exposed to the sun and bird crap everywhere. He has supposedly has done this to many customers and not given them their vehicles, boats engines, boats, or whatever else he was supposedly working on back to them. He is being kicked out of Discovery bay marina Beware because of these same issues. I would stay far away from this business and especially Chad! If I could give negative stats I would!! He's a mess!! read more

CB Marine Services - Uncovered swim deck - Boat Repair Near Me

See all

Stay away from CB Marine. I requested a simple tune-up on my inflatable (w/90hp motor) last July and after 10 months still no resolution. Chad/Hanna promised and missed numerous appointments and claimed month long delays due to having to order simple/common parts. (Carb Rebuild Kit then Fuel Filter and then Primer Bulb.) They promised, stalled and finally abandoned their way to getting fired a few days ago with the work still not being done. read more

Chad and his team were amazing!! highly recommend. Great service and great price.Thank you CB MARINE

Chad has worked on two of our boats over the last 10 years and has always been reliable and does excellent work. In several cases he has quickly diagnosed and fixed a difficult problem. I'm surprised by the negative reviews since I know many other people who use him and are very happy with his work. read more

I wish I would have read these before I contacted Chad. I have wasted weeks waiting for him to work on my boat. I figure this delay will cost me thousands of dollars. He makes commitments he doesn't keep and just strings you along. He is rude, arrogant, and very unprofessional. I am contacting the marina where I got his info and Boat US who he has an affiliation with. This guy needs to be shut down! read more

We have been loyal customers of Chad for many years. We needed a part for our boat trailer. Excuse after excuse. It's in my shop in Oakland. Oh sorry, now it's in Angels Camp. This went on for months. We will come pick it up Chad? No, I'm going to bring it to you on Sunday. This was the Sunday before Memorial weekend. We waited all day. Chad was a no show. I called him Monday to let him know we had all the kids and grandkids going camping for a Memorial weekend and we needed the part for the trailer. I was very polite when asking how to get the part from him and he was rude and said he would get back to me and basically hung up. We never heard back and we had to cancel our weekend with the family. Clearly he never had the part and just continued to lie. Moving forward we found the part for the trailer and had it installed at the local tire shop. We also found a New Boat Mechanic. When we went to pick up our boat from having the service done he let us know that our boat had not been serviced in years and the oil had not been changed (Which my husband did notice) We have been taken to the cleaners for years. Being charged for services that were never done. We have friends that also use Chad so we made a few phone calls and seems things aren't adding up on their end as well. Saying the same things to them. Saying that he did a service when in fact the boat was never serviced at all. Not showing up to finish the job, charging for things that were never done. Looking back we now see the writing was on the wall but we trusted Chad and we liked him, but he's nothing but a thief and a con. read more

I only wish my husband would have looked at this companies reviews prior to hiring them. I wish I could give ZERO stars! These people have NO clue on what they are doing. CB Marine gave you a time frame and didn't show up after you've waited 4 hours and driven over an hour to meet them. Chad finally came out a couple days later said it was a gas issue, got the motor started and said it's fixed. We thought it was fixed but 5 minutes into driving it out of the Marina the engine failed. We called Chad and his staff was too busy they said and didn't make any effort to come out to help us. We limped along with one engine on a 51 ft boat. Then after being anchored the engine wouldn't start again. He came out again, Charged us again even though he didn't diagnose it correct, we paid Chad again, we were at his mercy. Upon leaving the anchorage started the boat again the motor died again within 5 minutes. Obviously Chad did not fix the engine however they charged us a ton and again they were too busy to come and check their work. The are terrible at boat mechanics and if possible even worse at customer service. They state Chad has been a mechanic for 30 years, well he might want to go back to mechanic school. Read his other YELP reviews, many complaints and their boats were not fixed either. They said they would try to make arrangements to come out and take a look. Said they would call the next day and never did. We followed up and yet another promise to come help us. To date Chad nor Hannah has ever called back to schedule to come and look at the motor Chad never fixed I! They make promises they don't keep. The mechanic Chad is very arrogant and rude. Hannah in the office can't answer a simple question or even contact her team members when you've been waiting for hours and hours. Apparently Chad doesn't have a cell phone? The only time they were efficient getting back to us was for a credit card. Boaters are cool people, CB Marine doesn't treat YOU or YOUR boat with respect! Please do yourself a big favor and save your hard earned money on company that has a certified boat mechanic. I guess their motto is fake it until you make it! They aren't even faking it. Again, I so wished we would have check the BBB and YELP before hiring them. read more

Always had an excuse as to when abd why he didnt show up to replace and make right repairs that he made. Sold me bad or used parts that didnt work at all. Chad is a con artist and is in the boat repair business to get the payment without completing job. "On to the next" Chad claimed. He should not be licensed to write repair contract or do any work on any boat. read more

Chad was terrible at communication, was on his phone the entire time at my house with little attention to my questions. He brought another worker with him, and left to come back later and ask for payment, which was super expensive for the limited amount of work needed on my annual maintenance. When I asked for a receipt, he told me to text him my email address but then I never received anything months later. I had to make a claim for my boat and needed the invoice / receipt and it took him over two weeks to send me one. When he did send it, it was not dated and a very simple write up. To this day, about one week later, I asked for the receipt and he has still not sent me one with a date. My insurance claim is on hold due to this. Not accountable and got upset at that I got upset at him. Don't use this guy! read more

DO NOT let Chad touch your boat. He is a liar and con artist and the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. He had my boat for 6 weeks and the only thing he did was cut out a part that never should have been cut out. He had excuses after excuses and lied about replacing parts the whole time. He was rude to me and never answered calls or texts, getitng a hold of him was extremely difficult and stressful. When he would answer or call me back he would tell me "you're not my only customer you know and I'm doing you a favor." He told me not to bother him evenings or weekends even when he would tell me he was going to repair something and I could follow back up with him. He then charged me "labor costs" just to get my boat back after i called the Sherriff because he wouldn't respond and hung up on me. The guys that work around his shop laughed at m when i was looking for my boat and said i was gonna call the sherriff, they said this happens all the time. BEWARE!!!!! I know other professionals in the industry that have warned me about him since, unfortunately he already had my boat. Once my boat is repaired elsewhere I will be taking him to small claims court. I wish I could get damages for stress and time and only lost because i got my boat back in worse condition that i gave it to him in. read more

Had lots of work done on my 2 of my boats. Chad was awesome returned calls and didn't mind me bothering him about things I wasn't sure about, regarding service or general boat operations. Great Company. Reasonable prices. read more
