I've been going to Janice every couple weeks for her amazing Reiki Hypnosis combo sessions. Janice is so welcoming, warm, inviting, easy to talk to and share things with, supportive, nurturing, and an amazing holistic healer and wise woman. The guided hypnosis journeys are so beautiful and powerful. Each time is a different journey and Janice intuitively knows exactly what I need for that day. She emails the hypnosis recording to you the day after your session and she even texts you to check in on how you're doing! I feel that Janice truly cares and goes above and beyond for her clients. The whole experience is very peaceful, therapeutic, healing, and an all around relaxing experience to unwind and give lots of Love and healing to yourself. I love that the treatment room is also filled with lots of amazing crystals and healing tools you can look at before and after your session. There's a bathroom connected to the room and she provides cold water bottles after your session! Working with Janice has been such a worthwhile investment in my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual Well-Being and I'm SO grateful I came across their website! I love their smokeless sage cleansing spray. The blend is amazing and I spray myself, my space, and other things with it. So much Thanks and Gratitude for the Hamburg Healing Center.

I've heard about the Himalayan Institute for a while, but finally took the plunge and signed up for a 6-week long class series of their "Level II" yoga classes last night. The Himalayan Institute is a wonderful 501(3)c non-profit that offers yoga classes, workshops, lectures, etc inside their elegant mansion on Delaware Ave. When you stop in, you feel like you're inside a cozy home. There's a place to take off your shoes and an immediate bookstore to your left. Further down, there's the main living room where classes take place. It helps to take a class that has 10-12 people and not too much more as the room can get pretty crowded with 16+ people or so I hear. Here's what stands out about the Himalayan Institute: their yoga classes generally center around a meditation-practice. As a result, I feel incredibly relaxed and focused afterward. As opposed to some classes (such as Evolation), where I sweat like I'm inside some Finnish bathhouse and leave the class with more of an exercise high. With most classes, you have to sign up for a full 6-week commitment (usually $80), although they do offer drop-in classes on Thursdays from 5:30-6:30pm for beginners ($5) and on Saturdays (9:30-11am) for a more intermediate ($10) practice. In summary, I adore their meditative approach, yoga teachers as well as the novelty of practicing yoga inside a cozy old mansion. Unfortunately, there are no accessible showers in the facility, but there is a bathroom where you can change.

    Creative Wellness - Shiatsu Massage

    Creative Wellness

My path to booking a massage with Chelsea Privitera through Creative Wellness was random…read more I discovered I had a wellness card through my health insurance on 12/31 (can you say last minute?) and was in a panic looking for wellness places I could purchase a gift card from, online, for therapeutic treatments (I already have enough supplements for a lifetime). Luckily, I found Creative Wellness sold gift cards and provided online appointment booking for their advertised services. I knew I needed a massage, badly, and booked a 60 minute session with the first practitioner available: Chelsea Privitera. (I found out later that Chelsea is a separate entity than Creative Wellness, and even though she doesn't directly take Creative Wellness gift cards, Creative Wellness does honor them by reimbursing Chelsea, which I'm incredibly thankful for. It can be confusing because it looks like Chelsea is part of Creative Wellness when booking the appointment. When my gift card runs out, I will definitely be returning to Chelsea either way.) Upon arrival to the beautiful new location at Cardea Health Integrative, I noticed there were multiple buildings, and two of them looked residential. I started to have some anxiety about where to go; not wanting to walk into someone's house, so I walked towards the first building to the left when you enter the main driveway. It's a big white multi-storied house with a garage to the right of the house and has a sign for CHI. This house was indeed the place where Chelsea was located. Chelsea was nice enough to wait by the front door, otherwise I would've been lost and my agoraphobia could have spiraled more, which is not great prior to when you're supposed to relax. (Hopefully Creative Wellness will put up some signs to help guide clients to the right location. Apparently, there are two buildings with their practitioners. I am not sure which building it is in.) Chelsea was wonderful to talk to and she was very intentional with the therapeutic process and cared about what I wanted to work on during the session. I've been to a lot of massages where the room is cold, and even though this was an old (and incredibly gorgeous) house, there was a warm heating pad and a heater in the room, which was helpful. There was also a bathroom connected to the room, which was very convenient. The massage itself with Chelsea was wonderful. I really couldn't have hoped for a better one. I loved the scalp massage, the soothing herbal eye compress, and the warm towels placed on my back and neck at the end of the massage. Chelsea found the spots that were more troublesome on my back and neck (I'm a full-time cybersecurity researcher and writer. I type A LOT). I'm grateful she took the time to treat these areas. In summary, I will definitely go back to experience another massage treatment with Chelsea! Thanks!

Primarily I have attended Yoga classes, but have also done Reiki, Reflexology, New Moon Integrations and Tai Chi. I have also attended programs for healthy diet. All have been wonderful! As Covid has impacted our lives, I now attend my Yoga classes virtually. In-person classes are still available. A variety of classes are offered every day at many different times, making it easy to fit into my schedule. Each instructor brings a special, unique feel to the practice and I always end my practice feeling better. Even my yellow lab will lay down and be soothed by the Yogi's calming voice! I can't imagine not having Creative Wellness in my life. I have made friendships and have become a healthier version of me through the wonderful, caring guidance of Susan, the owner, and her dedicated staff. Highly recommend!!

Looking to work on your self-awareness and the art of reflection? This meditation practice hits…read morethat spirituality spot in your soul. No stop that runaway imagination of yours! :) It's not a place where you will get indoctrinated into a religious group or be subject to a cult like environment. The meditation group meets Thursdays at 7 pm and is currently running their practice once a week at the Jung Center. The sitting meditation is led by a trained group lead who guides the participants through 2 sessions of 30 minute sessions where the participant sits in a meditation pose and concentrates on a focal point and focus on gentle breathing. There is an intermission of 10 minutes where the group walks to improves circulation before sitting for the second sitting session. The evening is closed with a selected 4 minute passage from a book on meditation, mindfulness or Buddhist theme and followed by tea and light socialization for anyone wishing to linger and enjoy company. Every now and then there are workshops that are organized. This is a very welcoming group and I thank Jenny for her warm introduction. This group is a mixed bag of demographics: young 20's to 60's and different religious affiliations. You do not need to be Buddhist to participate in drop in sitting meditation; you just need an open-mind and a desire to improve your mindfulness and ultimately quality of life. You should plan on arriving 15 minutes early to receive an introduction to sitting poses and breathing technique if you are visiting for the first time. Second Sunday- morning, they offer a longer session of meditation (Nyinthun) to deepen our practice. Third Thursday - After the regular one hour of sitting and walking meditation, a DVD or audio dharma talk is offered by one of the Shambhala teachers.
