A beautiful and traditional country pub in the small rural village of Glanwydden. Great for food,…read morewine and a warm welcome every time. The food they serve is typical Pub Grub but prepared in a Gourmet style by properly trained Chefs. Much of the produce they use is local, try the Conwy Fish soup, locally caught mussels or the Angelsey Scallops. The main courses are Hearty, think slowly cooked Lamb Shanks, roast ribs of black beef or Homemade Steak and Ale Pie. The interior is warming and welcoming, with traditional low ceilings and a small bar which is always packed with local villagers. The Dining area is a little more elaborate but still in-keeping with time and tradition. During the Summer months you can opt for al-Fresco dining on the terrace. They also have a small private function room which is great for intimate parties or celebrations. Possibly the best, off the beaten track Pub in the area. Whilst its not the easiest place to get to its well worth the extra mile to taste the gorgeous food they serve. I've never been dissapointed with any meal at the Queens Head and i've been going for years! The only problem is deciding what to have when I get there!!

They have a fantastic menu and use local produce and is only a 5 minute drive from Llandudno. The food really is wonderful and they have an excellent wine menu as well as a well stocked bar and I have enjoyed meals here for many years. It's not really a child friendly place although I'm sure they would never turn families away, they don't cater for children specifically.

The Mountain View has always struck me as a strange case. It's the only pub in Mochdre which is a…read morelarge and predominantly working class village. The lack of competition should help to make this place a success. The problem is that it's always been run more as a restaurant than a pub. The largest part of the premises is set out as a food area with a small public bar tacked onto the side. About ten to twenty years ago it had an excellent reputation and people travelled from miles around to eat there. That reputation has now faded away (although to be fair it isn't a bad place) and it's clearly now struggling. This is evidenced by the regularity at which the 'Under New Management' banner appears above the front door. I suspect that many locals have felt alienated by the way the pub has been run in the past, I lived in Mochdre for a while and rarely went there, and with the general downtown in the pub trade it will be a struggle to recover.

Yes the Mountain View DID have a great reputation many years ago…read more Yes, it did change management quite regularly and get into a decline. It ended up so bad that things could only improve... but such a Herculean task would need a very talented and determined person. HOWEVER, the Mountain View has been run by Andy for a few years now and he's done an excellent job. A lot of alterations and improvements mean a lot of money has been injected into the place. So if you haven't been there before/for a long time, give it another go ~ you'll be very impressed.

But by far the winner in the culinary stakes was the braised Welsh lamb- cooked perfectly with a well designed jus to complement the lamb, matched with awesome dauphinois potatoes and perfectly cooked greens. Lamb is hard to find in Welsh restaurants and here it is available and stunningly presented and a decent portion served! Also loved the Welsh beer and the Welsh red wine (young but good potential!),

We try to come at Christmas to enjoy the beautiful decorations. It's a delightful venue with a lovely ambience, and a choice of several different rooms, alcoves and cosy nooks. A roaring log fire adds to its warm welcome. The menu is varied and interesting, the food perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious with attention to dietary requirements, the staff friendly and helpful. There is always quite a wait for the meal, probably because it's freshly prepared and beautifully presented. This is not a problem as there is a brilliant collection of games and colouring activities to keep the children entertained. It is our favourite place to eat in the whole of the British Isles!

After having arrived in Port Erin via the IOM Steam Locomotive, exploring the town and hiking to…read moreMilner's Tower (and breaking a toe along the way), I limped to a stop at The Station (conveniently located, and named, for the train station across the street) for lunch before riding the steam train back to Douglas. Dining at the Station feels a lot like having a meal in your friend's dining room, that has been converted into a private pub. Homestyle appointments, warm lighting, and the sleepy foot traffic of Station Road outside the window compound the coziness of this humble tavern in a quaint, seaside town. The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming to this humble off-season tourist. My meal was a hearty meat pie with a warm, flaky crust, steamed vegetables (carrots, peas and broccoli), and golden fries (chips). Solid pub faire, perfect for refreshing me for the second half of my journey. My memories of Port Erin, and the rest of the Isle of Man, are heavily laden with welcome nostalgia, and I hope that someday I will once again explore the seaside cliffs, breathe in the fresh ocean air, and stop for a pint and a pie or burger in perfect peace and serentiy (and without paying for it with a busted foot).

Our table was ready and waiting. You order at a window and pay first which I quite like because then you can leave when you are done and not wait for a check. They had a nice drink menu with a large gin selection. We went with a nice cold cider and enjoyed it a lot. We started with the fried cauliflower and courgette. They had a nice sweet chili sauce and came out hot and fast My sister got the butternut squash risotto and it was fantastic. My steak and stilton pie was good and a large portion. I liked the ambience and decor of The Station. It was fun and lively, very comfortable. I'd happily go again. The pizzas I saw coming from the kitchen looked good and the dessert menu looked delicious we just didn't have any room left!
