This place is beautifully decorated. It has your standard Mexican-American fair foods. Mariachi band that plays and will take requests that was a highlight for me and my friends played Selena Como la Flor. The service it depends there are times where I've been where it's fast and the wait is 5-10 minutes then there has been other times where the wait is 20-30 minutes depending on what's going on locally and have full the place is. Pasta dishes are also very well done here also. Brought a Lady friend with us for this newly specialty dish and oh was she ever so happy with it aswell lol. You can tell the shrimp is quality when the tail pulls right off it with such ease. I appreciate the generous amount of sauce given with this dish also. The food is pretty good with certain dishes being fantastic. But our last experience fell terribly flat. The waiter down-graded my meal (lunch portion instead of dinner portion), up-graded my husband's meal, (dinner portion instead of lunch portion) then explained that he had given us a discount so he could upgrade the meal with no extra cost (later discovered it was a 10% military discount to which we were not entitled and definitely did not request). I had the chicken fajita taco salad but it only had about 1/3 cup lettuce, a few grilled onions and peppers, and about 15 pieces of chicken (a lot). It seemed that my meal was just fajita chicken and no salad. I'm not sure where the disconnect was in this experience but it certainly left a "bad taste". read more

The food is really good. I ordered the fish tacos. My first time to have them and they were tasty. My friend ordered the Texas burrito. She thoroughly enjoyed as well. I ordered an Espresso Martini. My drink was perfect. Mu friend ordered a lemon drop martini. The server was friendly. I was able to order my food in spanish which the server spoke back with me. The ambiance was fun and upbeat. The food was amazing! We had the fajitas with steak, chicken, and shrimp and quesabirrias which are similar to street tacos but larger than the ones I had previously. The fajitas was great but the tacos were awesome! The service was great. Brian our server was very good. The place was nice and clean. If I had to complain about anything was not being able to eat it all! I was told it was not good but decided to check it out and I am so glad we did. Come and check it out. Cayefuego - American style ground beef tacos - Mexican Near Me - Pineville, Louisiana

This was our third visit to Cayefuego since the day after it opened. Our first impression was very positive with a nice ambiance. We ordered margueritas which were excellent. I spouse ordered a Fajita Bowl with grilled Chicken and Shrimp, while I had the Fajita with Steak and Shrimp that was served with two tortillas, refried beans, rice, Pico guacamole. With the menu description stating, "Sizzling Fajita", there was zero sizzle to my iron skillet and although the food tasted very good, my spouse's entree and mine were just above warm. The other issues we observed on our first visit: 1) Only 2 tortillas instead of the 3 that all the other Mexican Restaurants serve. 2) On my Fajita, only 4 pieces of steak and 4 shrimp (for $23) and very skimpy with the veggies (onions, red, yellow & green peppers). 3) The "small" margueritas were $9 each and no 2 for 1. When the manager Jose ask us how "everything was", we told him about the Luke-warm food. To our surprise, when we received our check, I noticed he had taken 25% off, which we appreciated. Because this was the day after their soft opening and new mistakes could be expected until the staff had the time to work out the kinks, we would return. A week or so later we invited a niece and nephew to join us for a early dinner and met them there. I will just speak of my spouse and my meals. We each had the same dishes as we had ordered the first visit. Again, the food was just warm and "again" I heard no sizzle from my Fajita plate and the same smaller food count that we had been served the first time. Because we were with company, we kept our opinions to ourselves, paid and left. The third visit was May 31st. This time I showed our waitress the menu and pointed to the word "sizzle" and asked her if she knew the meaning? There was a language barrier, and as she was having a hard time understanding what I was asking, I made the sizzle sound with my mouth. She then smiled and nodded. The food expeditor brought our food to the table, and I did hear a faint sizzle (not like the sizzle you could hear coming from the kitchen at other establishments we had visited for 35 years in four States. We had the same small portions for large prices...we didn't even say anything! In conclusion, because there are sooo many Mexican Restaurants in the Alexandria/Pineville LA area that also have similar prices but give substantially mor food for the money and have good/great margueritas, we have decided to revisit our well-known and liked Tex-Mex joints that we have visited many, many times over the years. In the case of the Fajitas that I had, my recommendation would be to put 6 slices of steak and 6 shrimp and double the vegetables and Pico & guacamole and serve tree tortilla shells. Also, have a 2 for 1 Marguerita happy hour and the two of us would return...because the food is good. BTW: They do offer a 10% Military Discount, but you have to ask for it up front. read more

The service and esthetics of the restaurant were great. We had a large group of people and it was a tight squeeze with the narrow table provided. The food was not the best and is overpriced compared to others. I didn't get a drink but others in my party did and everyone was satisfied with their drinks. Medium sangria margarita was $18 and the large was $20 and that was kind of silly when you think about it. Also the gratuity is added on the ticket but we had a great waitress so it wasn't a big deal. The food was great and the atmosphere was nice but the music was entirely too LOUD! We went with another couple and we couldn't even talk to each other because the music was way too loud! We asked the waitress to please turn the volume down-she said she did but it was still way too loud. We were all hoarse the next morning from trying to talk--we had to yell! It felt like we were in a bad nightclub instead of a restaurant! We won't be going back unless the manager changes the music volume! The atmosphere here is great and looks nice and clean, but there are a few things not great. The live band was so loud. Even way in the back room it was too loud to have a conversation. Even when the band wasn't playing, the music was too loud. It would have been way more enjoyable had it not been so loud. The food is just so, so. A bit pricey. Quesadillas were $17 for one tortilla folded and rice and bean and no guac or sour cream...What!!‽ The chips were too hard for the kids and my parents in their 70's to eat. read more

First off I wanted to say that a smile goes a long way. No one there, the whole staff did not smile at us (me and my son). The food was cold and nasty, The beans and rice clumpy because it was cold. The chips were hard and greasy. We spent over 100.00 there and the waitress didn't look me in the eye once. If that is authentic Mexican food it was horrible. It's a bit too dark in there, needs more lighting. Music is a bit too loud. We went at 3 pm in the afternoon, there was only 2 other tables they were waiting on. They were not busy at all. Therefore the food should have been cooked properly. There seems to be nothing on the menu that isn't spicy or have some kind of heat to it. The menu doesn't specify either way. It looks fancy but is quite dreary when no one there is even trying to be nice or friendly. Me and my son doesn't go out much, so when we do, we want to have fun, relax, and be in a friendly atmosphere. That being combined with the nasty food and nasty people gave us a bad taste and experience...we do not recommend Cayefuego. Save your money and go to Los Portales where the music is just right, the food is always delicious, and the people smile and actually work hard for their tips. read more
