We Live in Brookings Oregon and got lucky and had Caveman Heating and Air Conditioning in Grants Pass install our replacement Heat Pump. Our first contact with the company was with Sean Lewis from the Sales/Design Department. Sean was very professional and answered all our questions and put our concerns to rest. My wife and I were in the Grants Pass area and visited their office on Milbank Rd. We were impressed and surprised with the companies organization and the professional appearances of the offices. We contacted Sean and ordered our new Heat Pump/Air Handler. Within two weeks the installers Anthony and Francisco arrived in Brookings to install our new Heat Pump. They did a wonderful job, were professional, and left the crawl space and work area around our home very clean. I was surprised that it only took them 8 hours to install our complete system. We have now had our new heat and air system about 2 weeks. We are very please with the experiences we have had with the Caveman Heating and Air Conditioning organization. They have a problem standing behind their products.. We had a split unit installed in Dec. 2023 and it broke down in May 2024. They did replace that unit and then in quit again in Feb.2025. They want 1750.00 to fix the unit. The Unit is NOT fixable...So we are just out 6300.00. read more

Having problems with the A/C unit not coming on at the set temp. Ryan came out to check on it. When I explained the problem he asked " where is your thermostat?" I took him to it. He speculated that the problem was in the thermostat and not the A/C unit. And he was right! He moved some wires to make more space and like magic we had A/C! He had been on the property about 10 minutes. 35 minutes in total and he was on his way to his next call. And we were very happy. Got the club discount on top of everything. read more

it was the worst company I ever have to deal with. I have 3 new heaters install in my units, two stop working within a few days plus when they put it in, they damage walls around it and they didnt even bother to fix it, it took them over a year and still couldnt fix it one of the new units, finally I called another company and they fix it within 20 min. They also tried to blame the tenant for not operating the heater right. They are unprofessional and I will never recommend this company and already all my friends what a joke they are, they dont even deserve one star. I had a fire at my home when I was away for the weekend. The fire damaged my outside AC unit. Caveman came out immediately to take a look at the damages. It had melted wiring that needed replaced. All I can say is WOW. A 33 year old Geothermal HVAC, home we purchased Grants Pass 2 years ago, dies. Start of our busy summer full bookings of rental guests. Called 4 companies in area, all 4 say "Sorry can't help you we're busy". Contact a company in Medford, they supposedly specialize in Geothermal. They act if I asked to have my eyebrows shaved and home painted by hand. They finally find time a week later to quote and tell me "Oh we may be 4-6 weeks before we can install. Caveman I recall is just 5 minutes from the house, figured "yeah too easy they won't do Geothermal". HELLO, John at Caveman comes to the house in 24 hours, gives us a bid nearly $4,000.00 LESS than the Medford Mopes! SAME SYSTEM, John did not have our prior quote, gave us a great deal based on just being a good businessman and not taking advantage of a busy hot summer season. Unit was shipped from Indiana, Caveman showed up at 8 AM sharp day after 4th of July, system has been running beautifully ever since. They cleaned up after selves, removed the 33 year old beast, and took good care of our property not disturbing renters. You want a quality, fair, AND HONEST HVAC company, call Caveman. I am APPALLED by there services. They came out to fix our heater, the guy straight lined the wiring to the heater to do a quick fix on it. He didn't tell us and a month later it got to summer and we turned the AC on which somehow made our home hotter. It was over 80 degrees everyday. They came out again 2 weeks ago just to tell us nothing was wrong and everything was fine. Even though our home clearly was over 80 degrees and the vents air was hot coming out. Basically telling me I'm crazy. Our home continued to be hot and we tried various things to help! We basically used no power other than A/C, got 50 dollar filters etc. still was the same. We began suspecting he hardwired it to the heater. So we called caveman to explain our concern and see if they'd come out again to resolve their mistake. The lady said "NO WAY, our techs would never do something like that," and demanded to speak to our landlord very rudely. Our landlord said the same thing and the lady again told her that her techs would never do such a thing. This being the woman who doesn't go out in the field and know what her techs do. With her being so rude and seeming as if they'd only make our issue worse and not except the mistake they had made, we called AIRTECH. He came, and fixed it right away and confirmed that it was "straight-lined" and the heater was runnng 24/7 because of the guy who came out to "fix" our issues. We are now trying to get our power bills compensated for this disaster and scorching hot home caveman heating and air caused. We had $300 bills when normally they are $100 which we confirmed with pacific power. AIRTECH is more affordable and very thorough in his work, he's also professional and courteous to speak with and not rude like cavemans lady was when she answered her phone. No one should use this idiotic unprofessional company for any heating and air issues. read more

Only commenting on the appointment setting process here, not their actual work. I phoned Caveman approximately a month ago for service. The service appointment setter (I think his name was Ron?) was up-front in saying that they do not travel to nearby cities every day, for example Medford. But he stated most likely I'd hear back from him the following week, when his techs had other jobs lined up in Medford. That was a month ago. I haven't received a call back. Granted, maybe none of his techs have picked up new jobs in Medford, and perhaps that's why I haven't received a call back...but even if so, it would seem like a call back would have been in order, to keep me updated. read more

I normally do not take the time to write reviews, but felt this one was very important. This is a warning if you are going to buy from this company! My parents are 85 years old & bought a Tempstar Heat Pump from Caveman Heating & Air in January of 2017. They paid $4919. Two years later the air conditioning was not working. They came out in June 12th of 2019 to diagnose the problem. It cost $305 to diagnose & add refrigerant which they needed as it was summer & they had no cool air coming through the vents. They also added a dye to see if the unit was leaking. They did not return until July 2nd to check the problem. The Evap. Coil & Cond. Coil needed to be replaced. They did not have the parts until August 9th, when they came out to repair the unit. It took two months to get this fixed. Again, my parents are 85 & had no air conditioning in the middle of summer with temperatures sometimes reaching 100 degrees. The parts that were under warranty totally $1,129.48 were added in to the invoice, & then we were told we were getting a $1000 manager discount. After paying for refrigerant, freight, the return trip for the leak search & labor, which wasn't even listed, their total was $890.27. When we questioned the parts being listed in the total invoice, they said that was for labor. So, from being diagnosed to repairing the unit which was only 2 years old, with parts still under warranty, cost them $1,195.27. Really?????? My Advice-Go Somewhere Else read more

I have used their services for years. Lately, it is not so good. Rude, never on time, and try to find a way to charge you when the unit they installed is still under warranty. If you need parts and they order them, they will charge you for a second service visit to install them. I will NEVER use their services again. They charge way too much for being a local company. 61 just to come and then 81 for after hours and Saturday and then the repair cost. We have no heat and it's cold. Real cute for a local company. Within 10 minute he called back with 2 quotes, one for a standard mini and and one for high efficiency. It was completely refreshing having someone who was able to come out and give me honest advice about my heat pump. It was blowing fuses in the house and another company didn't even take it a part and told me I needed a compressor soon. Caveman took it apart, found the ground wires and two parts that needed to be replaced which were causing fuses to blow. They checked compressor and said it was great. They showed me exactly what they were doing and when I asked if I should replace the unit soon, they were honest and said no it has another 10 years left in it. Thanks Caveman! read more

Heater went out on Wednsday the 13th of November. Was assured a tech would come out and take a look the next morning. No show. I go to work and at 3:30 that afternoon I get a call. No apologies but tech states he needs to make an appointment to meet with me on Monday to take a look. Mind you I have no heat. I mention that and dude says even if I came by tomorrow I couldn't fix it until Monday (rude). Whatever. He does show on Monday the 18th (no heat for 5 days at this point). Orders the part for install the following Monday. Really? Ok its the 25th by then. Temp has dropped about 40 degrees and it's snowing out. They install this heater so all the heat blows int the living room and just a trickle reached the bulk of my little house. Basically installed backwards. Put the thermostat above the couch so you have to kneel on it to operate. I'm sitting in my kitchen in a sweater and beanie as very little heat reaches this part of the house. It's all concentrated in the living room. Maybe I'll move my bed in there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OUTFIT!! Horrible. read more
