There is a nice, cool, pool that the kids absolutely loved playing in. The campground is also pet friendly as long as you are in an RV or at a campsite. They don't allow pets in the cabin. That wasn't an issue for us this time, but it's something to consider if you are planning on traveling with pets. The cabins themselves are fine. Nothing extraordinary and nothing to nitpick about the structure. We only had a few issues. The first was with the AC. It was set to the lowest temperature, and it still couldn't keep the room cool. Granted, we came during a heat wave, so it's probably not so bad when it's just in the 80s or lower and the humidity isn't so high. The other issue was the mattresses on the bed. They were like prison mats. So uncomfortable, and even a two inch mattress topper didn't help. If you're a young person, then it probably isn't such a major problem, but if you are over 40 or have back pain, then you definitely want to avoid these cabins or plan to bring something that may help to make it more comfortable. The last issue is the cost. We stayed for two nights, and it cost over $300. My wife booked the cabin without my knowledge, so we were stuck with it, but for that price we could have stayed in a really nice hotel with amenities and towels and all of the things that are typically provided. In these cabins, there is toilet paper, a bath mat, and a couple of trash bags. You have to bring all of your own linens and towels. You also need to bring all of your own toiletries. And if you want coffee in the morning, either plan to bring a small machine and your own coffee, or you can take a 10-15 minute trip into one of the nearby towns. So, for the price and all things considered, I would not recommend booking a cabin here. The RV and campsites seem fine, and our in-laws paid a little less than half of what we paid for their RV site, so I would recommend it for that purpose.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a rude woman working the front office smoking a cigarette outside while we waited at the desk for several minutes unattended. Unfortunately we didn't get her name but remember the lack of dental hygiene/ missing and rotting teeth. During the tour we were made aware of the severe power grid issues at the camp and kept our consumption down in the sweltering temperatures (even though we have a dog) but still managed to melt a surge protector (SEE PHOTO) and out appliances were making weird noises due to dangerously low voltage. While exploring the grounds we wanted to check out what they called "the pollution field" and was confronted by a very large mountain of trash with including furniture, electronics and toxic plastics. Needless to say we won't be revisiting and if you value your rig and your time, I recommend the same!! Sun Ridge ("Resort" - or lack of) crossed off the list. And the internet was a joke as well.

Toilet flush was awesome, lol. Height of counter was thoughtfully higher-than usual and it had room for personal effects. The bed was not super-comfortable but acceptable. It was soft over hard, and my sister felt pressure points. The chairs sunk in the middle, but we weren't in them long. The gas fireplace was lovely!! And both windows open for fresh air, which I find very important. The place was very quiet and we only encountered other guests a few minutes here and there. The grounds are Gorgeous with grasses, roses, huge lavender plants. We loved sitting in the metal patio furniture with umbrellas, by the marina, eating our custom breakfasts! So relaxing and decadent. Kat, our breakfast waitress, was A+ and very pleasant. We all liked the food too. We did walk to local restaurants from here, plus easily visited Mystic by car. We did walk the nearby 1mi bayside trail to the Hole-in-the-Wall beach. It was a bit too far unless you can enjoy ~3mi roundtrip from Inn to beach. Our favorite restaurants were 374 Kitchen & Cocktail, followed by Constantine's (deck). We did not care for Flanders which was crowded and noisy, plus several additional unpleasant features! Now for the gritty: For unknown reason, the Inn has very cheap toiletpaper! And there is no place to lay clothes in the bathroom except in a drawer. There is no fridge in the room - just an icebucket with a fridge and ice in the community areas. They provide 2 bottles of water at the start of your stay...but you can get another at breakfast. Coffee is in carafes in the morning, but otherwise from Keurigs in the community room. You may freely wear the robes - just place them with your dirty towels at end of stay. To get clean towels, place your used ones outside your door! Fresh ones will magically appear in a plastic bag outside the door. They were not offering the pontoon rides when we were there in early June. I was disappointed and felt they should post the limitations. They do have cookies plus wine/cheese/grapes at certain times. These items are in the main Inn, where there are two tiny closets with staff in them. We were pretty comfortable going in and out the business area. Kat was the most welcoming, smiling when we cut through the kitchen each morning. We splurged to stay here for 70th BD celebrations. All four of us loved the Inn and had fun days in Niantic and Mystic.

This was a birthday treat for my friend. But we were seated at a nice table and the host said there was plenty of room. The waiter was great. Took our beverage order and invited us to browse the brunch. Before we got up the host returned and asked if our seating was okay because we were near an outside door. We said it was fine, didn't bother us at all. When we returned from the brunch offerings, the waiter asked us if we were comfortable and if everything was okay. Yes, it was fine! Just as we began to eat, another man came over and asked if everything was going well. Sure, we said. Then he said we would need to be moved to another table because they were expecting a large crowd. Seriously? So, our plates were picked up and off we went. He told us to wait until the table was cleaned off despite another table right next to it being all set up. Now things aren't so fine as the food is getting lukewarm and I feel like I'm disappointing my friend. Fortunately, the food was excellent, and we were able to go back to replenish our plates. We paid the bill and as we were leaving, we saw the original space where we sat was still empty. No big crowd. Waters edge needs to dot their I's and cross their T's and communicate among themselves much better than they did today. An excellent restaurant might've offered to comp the one Bellini I had. Last week when we were there, things were 50% better but it still took some time to get our drinks and food we had to ask for a set up. We had to ask for water and napkins. I finally got up and got the napkins from the bar. I thought this was all standard practices when you are a server.

What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States.
