When we arrived, customer service was a little condescending about the situation, which didn't help, but to their credit they ultimately worked with us, got us sorted out, and we were able to go inside. And once we did, the frustration faded pretty quickly. Seeing the Mona Lisa in person is one of those things you almost have to do simply because it's the Mona Lisa. But honestly, some of the enormous paintings throughout the museum were even more impressive. The scale of the artwork is hard to appreciate until you're standing underneath it wondering how anyone even painted something that large. One of my favorite surprises was going underground and seeing the remains of the original medieval fortress and drawbridge. I wasn't expecting that at all, and it added a completely different dimension to the experience. The Louvre is massive, overwhelming, beautiful, historic, and absolutely worth seeing. Even with our rocky start, I walked out feeling like we had experienced something genuinely special.

When paternal figures are this emphatic, I listen. Housed in a ex-gas station by the canal, it's an unpretentious wine and cheese cave with a few tables run by two friends Marwen (cheese guy) and Sélim (wine guy). You can come in pick up a fromage or three and a bottle to go. Or you can stay leave it to Marwen to bring a planche of lovely cheeses with charcuterie and Sélim to pick out a wine to go with the selection and your taste. I wholeheartedly recommend the second choose your own adventure option. Not only do they have excellent recommendations, the owners are incredibly nice and hospitable. When I showed up with a friend 20 minutes before afternoon closing time, Marwen stayed a whole extra hour in an empty shop with us. Love this place. Go, go, go, go.

In addition your eyes will immediately be attracted with the decoration : trendy welcoming and original. If you pop by go have a look in the toilet deco is still nice there too 4 stars not 5, why? Just because I thought at the end if you stop for wine tasting and cheese it is quite expensive. Even if it is good quality I thought that regarding the quantity it was a bit too much. The United States needs more wine shops like this!…read more We stumbled upon this place after the beer shop we were looking for was closed for the afternoon. I mean, we're in Paris so you gots to drink some vin, oui? The owner, Phillippe, was absolutely lovely and chatted with us about the various wines they have on tap (40!). How it works: It's a card system that is loaded with 20 Euros. You go around and put the card into the machine, pick the wine you want and the sample size. You can get just a sample, medium fill or a full glass. Once you're done drinking, hand the card to the cashier and pay the amount you drank. Most of the sample sizes cost around 1-1.5Euro. For me, this is a great way to sample a variety of wines without committing to a full glass. There is plenty of seating on the main floor as well as the lower level. Bringing some snacks and it would make for a great evening!

We stopped at a larger producer to have whites, went on to have a fabulous lunch with fresh cheeses and salad, tried wines from the barrel at different stages and then headed to some caves at a smaller producer that had a lovely combination of reds and whites. Our tour was so perfect we engaged him for a second tour, of Reims and Champagne region. Luiz took us to the historical Notre Dame of Reims where we got a little history lesson and then off to a larger facility that produces champagne (Mumm) where we got a very in depth tour and background of how traditional champagne is made. The highlight was a stop for a toast in some vineyards with a special bottle he selected of one of his favorites. At our last stop, Robert Allait we were able to try a variety of champagnes. Both tours were a highlight of our whole trip because of Luiz. He is passionate about what he does, thoughtful and a wonderful educator. My friends and I are trying to figure out how to take him on a trip to Italy .

I stumbled into Le Vin qui Parle the first time roughly 2 or 3 years ago soon after they opened. What an experience! The employees were amazing, polite and knowledgeable. They jumped right in telling me all about the different wines and helped me select a few that I could take back home to the US. My favorite was the Rebellion Pinot Noir which also has the best story behind the Vineyard and why they named it Rebellion. It is very bold Pinot Noir which can be pretty rare. While I have been taken care of by Loïc Aubert the owner before I had no idea it was his shop till my last visit. I was there with some work colleagues and we all got to talking and tasting some of the great spirits they had available. It was a fabulous time, we sipped amazing scotch and chatted about American Bourbon. I ended up getting several bottles of spirits and wine. The prices were very reasonable and coupled with the great customer service and experience overall it was a total bargain. I try to make it here every time I'm in Paris and highly recommend it to everyone!

A great selection of wines and small bites, cheeses and chocolates. During the week it closes early at 7:30 but weekends at 10 due to the type of license, cave. They allowed us to try a few before selecting a glass. Knowledgeable servers and as you expect a bit of snob, which I appreciate with good wine ;-)
