This place is AMAZING. The food, the service, the atmosphere, all of it. Met the owner, Michael and…read morehe is gracious and so great to chat with. Definitely a gem!

Now, if this was a review of the food alone, this would have an extra star, but it's not, but I…read morewill say - the food was much much better than the naff service here. It was that naff, I had to dredge up the word naff in my own personal lexicon so I could reuse it from my primary school days, just for this review. When the waiter looks at you, realises you are asking for a takeaway, then looks away for a couple of minutes, apparently thats a signal to start talking. When we remained silent, and not just a little bemused, he looked back at us, looked at the pad, and picked up the pen. Oh... right, we're supposed to be giving our order. OK. He leaves, so do we, to run an errand. We return, the food is ready, and we are given a solitary bottle of warm beer. My pro-feminism wells up... but really, I don't think it mattered who the beer was aimed at, we just had one to share. For a meal for two. I'm back into a bemused state wondering who this kind of service impresses. Like I mentioned earlier, the food, it's nice enough, not too greasy either, but not memorable enough to make me want to go back to Bombay Lounge to deal with crap service again, not when there are other restaurants in town that provide better food and service. Sorry guys, your food isn't unpleasant, but you are.

Itihaas Indian Restaurant - One vegetarian dish (top) and one lamb dish (bottom).

The restaurant itself is what I would call "Manhattan modern." It has full windows, floor to…read moreceiling windows that look out on the main street, and sparkling LED lighting. There are white cloth tablecloths and the waiters are dressed somewhat formally. We were greeted and shown to our table. Our waiter came over immediately to take our drink order. We each ordered Kingfisher beers and they had that one on draft. The menu is multiple pages and very extensive. We ordered a lamb dish and a vegetarian dish. The food came in about 15 minutes. They used a hot plate to keep the main dishes warm. We both thought the lamb dish was excellent. However, my wife did not care for the vegetarian dish (I liked it). Overall, we had a good meal here and a good night out. However, we eat a lot of Indian food and my wife cooks great Indian food (she is Dutch not. Indian). This meal did not 'wow' us like the meals at some other Indian restaurants. We would definitely consider going back to this restaurant.

Let's be clear, I am no great fan of Indian food. My curry preferences are much more Thai style…read morethan than Indian, or UK types. With all that said, Itihaas is outstanding and offers wonderful dishes that can satisfy both the curry lover and the curry "blah" guy like me, all wrapped in a package and bow of quality staff and very nice settings. I am impressed! I really enjoyed my Saktora Lamb and Bhindi along with very good Naan. The lamb was tender and full of flavor, the okra cooked to perfect texture and taste. Being no expert on Indian cuisine I cannot vouch for authenticity, but I certainly would very much recommend Itihaas for a good meal at a nice table!

We went here to have a Christmas night with a group…read more Bar prices were ok but the barmaid was a bit ditsy with the order and kept asking what we ordered! Food, "Meh I've experienced FAR better". Don't come here if you like your food. I won't be coming back. it was edible but i could go the extra mile and it would be sensational! I bit into a "sausage" and it wasn't appealing - the quality was water. The mossaka was eh not a tad on my sister in laws which is proper greek and now I want some of her to make me feel better. The Dj was shouty, very shouty with the microphone. thank goodness for my hearing aids as i could turn down the shouty ness!! Toilets were a sorry state. With 2, yes 2 functions on the same floor you would think the priority was to have all toilets on working order. with one out of order and toilet rolls at the sink getting wet. it's a small space for ladies to washhands and dry them and try and get out. I been here once before for a wedding reception and can't remember it being that bad. I won't be recommending the food from now on, it would be shameful if i did. The seating arrangements were comfortable and the dance floor was big enough, hence 2 stars. Meh, I've defo experienced better - hence the early departure!

The Quayside was relaunched a little while ago as The Quay, it's a lot nicer inside and the menu…read moreand food quality have improved a lot! My boyfriend and I went there earlier today for lunch, their luch menu's really good value compared to the regular prices on the menu for the dishes that are on it. The only bad thing was that we both asked for Diet Coke's when our waiter came to take our drinks order, but they still hadn't came when he came back for us to order our food or when the starters came! A group of people at a table nearby were also complaining about this. After the wait, they brought the Diet Coke's - 2 glasses with ice and 2 cans of Diet Coke!! Not sure what took so long to get them but the food was really nice! I had the mozzarella and tomato salad for my starter, it had a pesto sauce drizzled over it, they had been really generous with the amount of pesto and it tasted fantastic! For my main I chose the chicken goujons with garlic mayo dip, they were really nice and had a lot of flavour. We'd been several times with my family but this was our first time trying the lunch menu, we'd definitely go back again to try more from the menu, it's really good value too!
