Not only was he an asshole but tried to berate me simply because I introduced myself by first name only. Pretty much the entire conversation he carried a condescending and accusatory tone. I had full intentions of giving Bill Parker and his office my business! If he did a good job, I would have gladly given him my continued business as I try to make it a habit of giving smaller companies my business whenever possible.
First thing I want to address to you, Bill, is that as much grief as YOU gave me for not giving YOU my FULL name, I want to remind you that YOU dubiously answered the phone "Hello?", like an amateur who has never answered a company phone before. And YOU didn't introduce YOURSELF first! Which is how things usually work in the business world. Also, pressuring someone to give you their full name before we are in a business relationship is extremely uncouth. Bill, do you honestly have any idea how many business gather people's privacy and information just to blast them with spam, ads, unwanted phone calls, and even sometimes sell their information to other companies to be harassed even more so! Also, if you take a step back and look at my questions OBJECTIVELY, you will notice MY IDENTITY has no relation, bearing, or integral part on answering my question!!! I felt that I was pretty upfront, honest, and although my communication skills fall between below average and poor (which I will explain later why), I felt it was pretty obvious what I was calling about: 1) I needed to file a simple tax return. 2) I had a question on what documents I needed to bring with me before we met so I wouldn't waste gas, your time, my time, your Receptionist's time, my service dog's time, and this phone call.
I had an excellent working relationship with my former accountant in NJ. I would buy him and his staff a locally made delicious pizza pie every year he did my taxes as a way to say thank you to him as he often gave me and other active duty military members an awesome discount or even did my taxes for free! Bill, before you go and accuse, badger, put down, and get offensive to customers, why don't you try to have a little more patience and tolerance Bill!?If you wouldn't have awkwardly pressured me to give you my FULL name as a prerequisite to answering ANY of my questions, you coukd have learned that I am a medically retired, Air Force veteran with several service and combat related disabilities, which do include: anxiety, PTSD, depression, tremors, and several other side effects which makes conversations with me a bit more difficult. Sometimes it might seem like there is missing information, or my voice sounds shaky. IN ADDITION to living with these struggles and disabilities I have been a victim to IDENTITY THEFT! Through no fault of my own, a former employee of a retail store chain took mine and other people's information from the store computer and stole over $2,000 from me in less than 3 minutes, as well as an unknown amount from several other customers, (beware of using yoir debit or credit cards at Alvin's Island in Destin, FL). So now you might understand why someone like me and millions of other Americans are hesitant to give our full name to a 'business' we have no relationship with. I can only hope you change your demeanor, attitude, and business practices and grow in patience, tolerance, and understanding. Until then I implore anyone looking for a friendly local accountant to STAY FAR AWAY from this rude and condescending business!!!!!!!!!!!
