This time, I had about 6 boxes I needed to donate-the usual items such as clothing, vases, housewares-but I was short on time and the car I use to take in donations because of the larger trunk space was getting serviced so I scheduled a pick-up time on-line and the driver showed up and took all the boxes away. Their website is a very user-friendly website and has a lot of useful information. They have their address and telephone number on their website. They responded to me the next business day via telephone. They scheduled a donation pickup, gave me the specifics as to how they want the donations boxed up, they showed up on the scheduled day, and they took all the donations. Friends of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society supports the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to eradicating MS and providing resources on living with MS during its research into ending MS. Long separations from family, friends and pets, frequent moves through-out the world, training, late nights in military Service to America, exposure to toxins, and the toll of high, sustained mental and physical demands on an Active-Duty Service member can and does all quickly add up over time. For Veterans, multiple sclerosis "MS" is a presumptive condition, which means that it is presumed that the disability is caused by military Service if diagnosed within a certain time frame. What is the prevalence of multiple sclerosis among Veterans? It has increased in recent years. A 2019 report revealed that the rate of MS among Veterans using the VA Health Care System (VHA) increased from 141 per 100,000 Veterans in 1999 to 262 per 100,000 Veterans which is 0.26% in 2014. Only about 40% of Veterans receive their health care within the VA Health Care System (VHA) so the number of Veterans overall with MS is probably far higher. Starting with the best part, when people are just starting off, resettling into a home, or just in need, the SA offers a voucher program where these people can receive a voucher. The vouchers are for basic needs like silverware, plates, pots & pans, glassware, small appliances, storage containers, basic furniture and other household items. This is an awesome community caretaking role so that people don't have to struggle just to get settled. There is a simple qualification process and then start shopping. 5/5 The shop ability of the two locations known as Valley Road and the one on Sutro. The store is mostly chaos-organized, but at least there is lots of room for everyone to shop. Donation drop-off is variable and seems to sometimes work super easy and at other times it seems they would rather you go to St. Vincents. Some of the items are reasonable and some are nearly retail. 3.5/5 I understand the processing volume of things that come in is a huge task because there are things that cannot be resold, pure junk, all mixed in with great second chance items and valuables. This month the focus was on St Vincent's Dining Hall. They are feeding more people than ever and they need our help. I am a firm believer that in the USA no one should go hungry, unfortunately that is not the case. Next month I will donate to the food bank.
