Dr. Gemmi & His Staff Changed My Life I came to Orthodontics…read moreLimited in Hatboro with teeth I thought were beyond repair -- and a spirit just as broken. But Dr. Gemmi didn't flinch. He took on the challenge and gave me a smile I never thought possible. Thanks to him and his kind, professional staff, I now feel confident speaking, smiling, and showing up fully in life. Since completing treatment, I've written and published two children's books: "Yarn: A Tail of 2 Kittens" and "A Thing or 2 About a Kangaroo." I was so grateful, I even thanked Dr. Gemmi and his team in both books' dedications. This office didn't just straighten my teeth -- they straightened out my confidence. If you need orthodontic care, don't hesitate. Dr. Gemmi is the real deal.

I have been very pleased with this office as they have treated my daughter with braces. She is…read morealmost done with her treatment as it has been about two years. I was impressed right away as several other orthodontists wanted to put "spreaders" on my daughter before the actual braces. I thought this was a senseless step in the process that would add an extra 1.5 to 2 years. Dr Gemmi agreed a removed a few teeth that the spreaders were supposed to give space so they would naturally fall out. She had already had to have a few teeth removed to make room for the teeth to have room. Great no nonsense orthodontists that don't need to add the extra cost for additional profit. Also a great lesson for my daughter to shop around and get several opinions as even respected orthodontists would recommend senseless treatment to make additional profit. Have recommended several friends to this practice and will definitely continue to recommend!

Unprofessional They…read moredon't listen to patients and their needs, instead pushing for bigger/other procedures. No explanation of coverages/benefits before checkout and the big bill that shows up, especially when insurance changes (Which they take very few plans). Little to no regard for patient feedback and concerns, only scheduling the next procedure/appointment. Be careful with billing department too as they pre-billed for $700+ for services that were not started for my daughter despite notifying them multiple times that we were not ready to move forward. No notification, no receipt, no outreach. I had to call to ask for help and then had to call again the next week to get it resolved as nobody bothered to call back. Just unprofessional all-around.

Unprofessional & Dismissive - Crown Failed in 9 Months…read more My 4-year-old daughter had a crown placed at Newtown Dentistry, and within nine months, it fractured, leaving only the glue behind. According to their own website, "Under normal use and proper care, a pediatric crown should last until the tooth naturally falls out"--which should be 5-7 years, not months. Another dentist noted excess bonding shortly after placement, which research suggests can contribute to fractures. Despite perfect hygiene, no decay, and a normal diet (chicken nuggets, mac & cheese, yogurt, etc.), the crown still failed. The missing piece was about ¼ inch in size, a substantial failure for a baby tooth. Newtown Dentistry was completely dismissive. They initially told us to only come in if the crown fell off or caused pain. I had to push for an in-person evaluation, where they still insisted the crown was fine. Yet, we now face increased risk of decay, the need for further monitoring, and the possibility of another crown--meaning sedation again. Due to their poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and dismissiveness, we did not feel comfortable having Dr. Kristianne Macarareg monitor or replace the crown. When we requested a refund, they refused but it took several dismissed inquiries via email first. We have since discontinued care and would not recommend this practice to any parent looking for quality pediatric dental care.

I came to Dr. J for the first time last month. I am quite anxious about my teeth and dental work…read moreand previously followed with a different dentist for decades. My experience has been the best possible-- she is exceptionally competent and kind. She always runs on time. Her office is clean. The communication about appointments and receipts is convenient and comes via email / text. She made me feel comfortable and was sensitive to my experience. I cannot recommend her or her practice highly enough.

I visited this office for a specific problem -- a chipped front tooth. Instead of asking what…read morebrought me in or listening to my concerns, I was immediately pushed into their standard "cleaning + X‑rays" workflow. My actual issue was ignored. When I addressed the dentist by her first name -- the name she introduced herself with during my first visit a year ago -- she corrected me sharply: "I am not Shilpa. I am Dr. Shilpa." For the record, I wasn't being casual or disrespectful. I didn't shorten her name or use a nickname. I simply used the name she gave me. Titles don't change my attitude toward a person. What matters is whether a professional listens, communicates clearly, and respects the patient's needs. Being corrected over a title, before anyone even asked why I was there, felt unnecessary and set the wrong tone. I was also concerned about the cost -- nearly $2,100 without dental insurance -- and I was trying to understand what was essential and what could wait. Instead of addressing my questions or the reason for my visit, the focus stayed on their standard workflow. This interaction reflects a larger problem in healthcare: too often, caregivers prioritize procedures over patient needs, leaving patients feeling they have no options except to comply. There is nothing wrong with earning money, but there is something wrong with recommending procedures the patient does not need immediately. A healthcare visit should begin with one simple step: ask the patient what they need. That never happened here. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this practice.
