We visited for a round of Cat Bingo. Our group of 8 ranged from teenagers to seniors. Each one of us had a wonderful time! The place is small and that is a plus not a minus. The cats at any given time change as they are all actively up for adoption. The goal is part fundraiser, feline awareness, and overall wholesome fun. We were able to bring in libations of our choosing. Cookies, coffee, and water were complimentary available. We especially enjoyed hearing the history and ongoing mission of the Catfe and Ferndale Cat Rescue. Also, each cat had its own story that we learned and about their unique personalities. Stop in and support the Catfe. It is a great cause and also quite relaxing if you are having a bit of a day or week.

$10 suggested donation! Adorable little cat cafe with friendly and knowledgeable owners. Come here for the kitten cuddles or potential adoption.

Wow, I really love the ferndale catfe. The staff here is very caring and always friendly with guests. They volunteer their time to help these animals and they are very thankful for donations, etc. I've stopped by a few times and am always so impressed as to how they handle adoptions. Such an innovative way allowing animals to show their personalities instead of being trapped in a cage. I love the fundraising events they hold and the things they sell in store are priced very well and go to a good cause. Last time I was there I picked up some cute socks, can't wait to go back and pick up some more knick knacks ^ . ^

What a great place to feel some love and joy with precious kitties! A much better experience bonding with the cats compared to petting them through a cage.

Terrible experience, the cats all look very sad and the employees yelled at me when I tripped over a water bucket but it wasn't my fault.

Not sure of what to think of this place... My husband and I…read morewent today to interact with different dog breeds. We left heartbroken and a little confused. The dogs were so cute. So loving, but when we asked if the dogs get walked...nope. Dogs are not let out of their cages unless someone requests to see them or their cage is getting cleaned. The employee seemed very knowledgeable and friendly, but then referred to the dogs as "product" when we asked about how long the dogs stay. She told us that they "get new product once a week, depending on if they are from Indiana or Michigan." I just don't know what to think. Many people walked out buying dogs in the hour we were there, which is awesome! But...not sure. When we were done visiting with one puppy, no employees were out to attend to us. We could have easily walked out with the dog. Puppy mill? I don't know. One dog didn't even want us touching her, she hid in the corner of the stall and growled when we tried to play with her. So sad :/

I visited The Family Puppy today while in town for work…read more I was excited to see this place after entering the mall as i LOVE dogs. When i walked in I noticed there were designated places to interact with the dogs and puppies and there were a significant number of dogs in cages. There were at least 4 employees working, answering questions and taking out and returning puppies to their cages. There were maybe 5 families and or groups of people inside the store. I connected with a specific dog and wanted to ask questions about it. I waited at his cage for about 5 or six minutes. During the time I was standing directly in front of the cage, I made eye contact with 2 employees, and waited for someone to acknowledge me. Not once was I greeted or asked if I needed help. Meanwhile, I watched as every other family and individual who walked through the door was greeted IMMEDIATELY and offered assistance. I am a self-assured woman and I know my value, so their lack of greeting doesn't change how I feel about myself. However, I am sharing this so others are aware of the environment here. It is a shame that in a store full of families and pets, the "warm welcome" seems to be reserved for a specific demographic. The reality of my experience: Every single person was seen, except for me.

Much of the food is donated by local stores or restaurants. They get a ton of stuff into their warehouse. They always go through the daily protocol in the big conference room. You are to wear gloves and a hair cover and beard cover for those with facial hairs. Now you can add a face mask to the attire too. You start the event work around 9am and work until 11am to noon. The warehouse job is the hardest. I have sorted through some rough looking potatoes, to water logged and decrepit looking cucumbers and tomatoes. It makes you really appreciate the foods we can easily pick through at the grocery store to get the most appealing ones. Any sign of mold gets tossed. This is the hardest of the jobs, but also the most rewarding since it's labor intensive too. I have also had the pleasure of assembling sandwiches in the kitchen too, with wheat squares of bread, some meat like slices of pork meat of some sort and cheese too. Volunteering your time and energy is greatly rewarding and so helpful to those in need. This is a great center that gives back ro the community. At the end of your day, they will brief you on how many bags or boxes of food were boxed that day. It's the only day big the original big 3 OEMs groups can collaborate and work together side by side without any intellectual property issues too.
