Seafood restaurants with good ambiance are quite common i the Philippines, but what I love about Catch is their philosophy of serving the freshest seafood out there. Not only that, what sets them apart are the owners believe and propagation of sustainable seafood in the country. Now, that's a cause I want to support, after all, I still want my children to enjoy the things I enjoy today.
Catch has a casual-fine dining setting that has a relaxing ambiance and an intimidating menu. Beside it, is Hooch, a bar you can unwind and mingle. For every main course you order, you get a soup, and a round at their salad bar spread. For this visit, I was served with Pumpkin Cardamon Soup, which has a smooth and creamy texture and good flavor. The salad bar offers a wide variety of appetizers including tostillos and salsa, risoni salad, penne pesto, greens with a variety of dressings, crab cakes, and some Mediterranean dips. I like the salsa for its color and flavor. The cold risoni salad was a bit bland; the pesto as well because the basil was not able to give taste to it; and the crab cakes supposedly good but was in the open for a long period of time so it dried out.
For the main course, I tried Line Caught Yellowfin Tuna with Risoni and Arugula, but was also able to try their Citrus Glazed Mahi-Mahi with lemon and risotoo. I preferred my order better as the tuna is perfectly seared. It has a crusty exterior but the meat is so soft and fresh. The arugula balanced everything out. Servings were generous and I really enjoyed the dish. The Mahi-Mahi was perfectly seasoned but a little too meaty for me. However, the risotto was a stand out on the dish as it was perfectly cooked and chewy. The flavors are nice as well.
For dessert, we tried their chocolate mousse, lemon yogurt cheesecake, baked apple crumble. Stand outs were the chocolate mousse because of its creaminess and richness, and the apple crumble because no words can describe it. It was truly perfect.
Excited to go back and try other dishes on the menu. read more
