This is a somewhat difficult review to write. I had 4 Canadian friends down to visit for a week. One of them is a full time guide in Manitoba. We made our reservations over the telephone. The instructions mention the marina where the boat is docked.
We were not sure how long it would take us to drive to the marina so we arrived 20 minutes early. We went to the dock and found Capt. Bob Bushholz on his pontoon boat. I began to introduce myself but he interrupted me with " Your early, we are not leaving for 15 minutes". He then yelled that I was in the wrong place and I needed to walk down the road 300 yards where he would pick us up. We never did get an introduction.
We walked down to the public launching ramp and dock and Bob showed up 15 minutes later. As the six of us were boarding I mentioned to Bob that we read the trout fishing has been excellent. His quick reply was "I don't like to fish for trout because I don't like having jigs fly by my head". He never did ask us if that's what we wanted to fish for.
Bob then told us we were going to fish for triple tail but only three of us could fish for them at a time. The others would be allowed to jig off the side and possibly catch a catfish. Bob showed us how to bait a shrimp and we headed north and over the 4 hours we caught 1 triple tail but it was way too small to keep. Bob never baited a hook or offered any advice other than not to tangle the lines of the markers.
With fishing so slow I would have expected Bob to try something different in an attempt to locate fish, but no, we did the same thing for 4 hours. We actually fished the same markers twice!.
While it was a nice day to be on a Pontoon day it was a totally wasted day of fishing. I don't know if Bob was having an off day but he sure did not impress the 6 of us. read more
