We are glad to have chosen EGE CDC for our childcare needs and trust that she's in good hands.

More Than Just a Place to Drop the Kids Off…read more I've gotten the chance to see a few Merryhill Preschool locations around the Sacramento/Elk Grove area, and I have to say, I've come away pretty impressed. The biggest thing I notice is the overall atmosphere. The kids seem comfortable, engaged, and actually enjoying themselves. There's a nice mix of learning, play, meals, and activities throughout the day, so it doesn't feel like the children are just being watched until it's time to go home. There seems to be a real focus on keeping them active while helping them develop those early skills they'll need as they grow. And honestly, the staff deserve some credit too. Every location I've been around, the employees have generally been friendly and in good spirits. I've seen staff interacting with the kids in a way that feels genuine rather than forced. You can usually tell when somebody is just doing a job versus when they actually enjoy being around the children, and my experience here has been much more of the latter. Of course, every school and every location can be different, and I can only speak on the locations I've personally seen. But from my experience, Merryhill Preschool gives off a good first impression and seems to put a lot of attention into the children's day-to-day experience. If you're a parent looking around the Sacramento/Elk Grove area for preschool and want to see what they're about, I'd definitely say it's worth taking a tour and checking them out for yourself. Sometimes seeing the environment in person tells you more than any brochure ever could.

I was worried about her because she is at the age where separation anxiety is at her peak but Ms. Kaitlynne and Ms.Marina has been a great help in her transition. They reassure me that my child is having fun meanwhile also learning. She comes home and will start singing the alphabet and medley songs she learns from daycare. All three of my children has been through the daycare and they all love it. You really get what you pay for here at MerryHill!

They were very welcoming to us in the beginning, allowing us to come check out the facility and even stay for the day with our child to experience their classrooms and teachers firsthand. I liked that the classrooms were separated by age, which was really nice for our kids to be able to interact with other kids only their age, and not worry about other kids that were too young or too old. They are very good about keeping open communication via messages on their app. I loved how they would do special things in the summertime and various other fun things like themed teacher appreciation weeks or random spirit dress up days. My only criticisms here if any are the registration/enrollment process can be a bit archaic - having to fill out a whole paper packet by hand seems outdated. There could have also been a bit more transparency about pricing. Whenever I would ask about updated pricing, I'd have to follow up and keep asking, or I'd just find updated prices for the year on our billing and have to ask about it. Also sometimes there would be issues with the door or door codes. I liked when they had a unique code for each family because that felt safer, but then it reverted back to a shared code for everyone. Other than that, I was happy with the actual teachers here that our kids spent time with every day. They all genuinely cared for our kids and we really felt like family! Shoutout to Miss Tia and Miss Bounma up front, and Miss Rai Rai, Miss Jennifer, Miss Nancy, Miss Choua, Miss Zee, and Miss Donna for doing such a hard job everyday and helping to take care of our babies throughout the years!!

I was nervous at first because my daughter got sick often when she first started going here; however, she started in January so it could have been the season. From April to now (December), she hasn't gotten any serious illnesses. Either her body adjusted or it was just the winter season that was difficult. The staff here are amazing which is a huge reason I like KinderCare. Tia, Bounma, Ms. Nancy, Ms. Zee, and Ms. Choua are all so friendly and I enjoy seeing them. They are so great with my daughter too who is usually on the reserved side. My daughter's language, reading, and social skills have increased since coming here. She happily talks to me about her teachers and friends at school and what she did that day. She looks forward to coming here. I love that KinderCare provides breakfast, snacks, and lunch for the kids too. The tuition is a little higher than other preschools nearby, but given that KinderCare provides meals and snacks, I think it's worth the convenience.

I would have to say my favorite part about Elk Grove Kindercare are the relationships our family has formed with the staff. It's extremely hard as a parent to have to leave your child for long periods of time. The staff at Elk Grove Kindercare have made leaving my boys a little less painful and I will always be grateful for them.

Last week, I toured the center and informed Angelina that my son has ASD. She suggested we do a trial day, which was scheduled for today. When we arrived, we waited about five minutes before someone named Gabby opened the door. She asked, "Is this the 4-year-old that's doing a trial?" but never asked for his name, whether he had any allergies, or if he was potty trained--basic information any center should ask upfront. I offered that information anyway, but it was never requested. Another red flag: before leaving, I was asked to jot down my name and number on a sticky note. I was confused because they should have already had that from our initial visit. Even more concerning--they never had me sign any kind of consent form, agreement, or emergency contact document before leaving my child in their care. That is not only unprofessional, it's unsafe. Less than 20 minutes after dropping him off, I received a call saying he was crying and trying to elope--something my son has never done before. They told me to come get him and said he wasn't a good fit. It felt like no one made a true effort to comfort or support him during what should've been an adjustment period. When I arrived, they took me to where my son was, in the very back in the corner. When I grabbed my son, and was walking out. I looked behind me and all the teachers stayed back. I had to go out my way to ask to speak with Angelina. I could tell I was being talked about, and the atmosphere felt extremely uncomfortable. When I expressed how I felt that my son wasn't even given a chance, Angelina shrugged and said it was a safety issue. I left feeling discriminated against and heartbroken. It's clear this facility either lacks the training to support autistic children or chooses not to. Either way, I strongly advise parents--especially those with special needs children--to look elsewhere. Your child deserves patience, preparation, and above all, respect.

The teachers are phenomenal. My girl had Ms. Emma, Ms. Tasha, and Ms. Esther. I love the clear communication, and they were all so patient and sweet but still had high expectations for the kiddos. Moore's uses an app to check in and out. I got so many adorable pictures of my girl throughout the day with updates on what she was doing and what she ate that made me feel at ease. Ms. Yasmeen is the assistant director, always at the site. She is so sweet and helpful. She loves the kids, always getting them little trinkets for special occasions and helping out in all areas. Moore's curriculum is very organized with themes changing each month like space, sea animals, cooking, and so on. The art is actually made by the students themselves to encourage creativity. By the end, my girl was drawing her whole family on many of the art projects she brought back. Quite a bit of focus on handwriting as well, which I appreciated. The kiddos get an abundance of playtime outside with all the cool obstacles and activities they have out there. Moore has many guest presenters like Dan the pirate who come and talk about their professions. My girl learned so much and would always tell me little facts that she learned at school. Moore's has a plethora of events throughout the year. My girl attended the Thanksgiving, Easter Egg Hunt, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day Tea Party and so on. There are many others such as the Trunk-or-Treat and pretty much something for every holiday. They also do free photoshoots with Santa and the Easter Bunny! At previous schools we'd get…read morenonstop phone calls about him not staying on his mat during nap, not handling transitions well, not interacting with kids the same way other kids do, playing with the dirt or bark too much while outside, etc. The teachers at Moore have done a beautiful job meeting him where he's at and providing an environment that lets him be himself while still learning how to be in a class environment. From day 1 with Moore we noticed a big difference. He's much more regulated, he actually naps (!!!), he's made friends and he genuinely enjoys going to school each day. The app allows for direct communication with his teacher if needed and we get updates all day on what he's up to. The teachers are friendly but still firm with the kids when needed which is great. They do a ton of activities including learning numbers, letters, their names, doing sensory activities, practicing fine and gross motor skills, etc. Moore isn't going to be your standard daycare center with pristine rooms and strict schedules. They're a daycare center with a home daycare feel. My son often comes home covered in dirt with shoes full of sand and we LOVE it. We like that you can tell the kids have played all day because it means they got to be kids.
