Awful membership policies, they really wring the money out of you and they'll be charging you to cancel too.

My 1-year-old daughter, who is potty trained, needed help washing her hands and asked a staff member for assistance, but she was ignored. She then asked her 11-year-old sister for help. When my older daughter tried to help her in the bathroom, staff stopped her and told her she could not go in with her sister, and they spoke to her in a very harsh and upsetting way. I understand that there may be bathroom policies, but the way the situation was handled and the way my daughter was spoken to was completely unacceptable. We will not be returning to this YMCA and will be staying with our local YMCA instead.

Overall, my family has been pretty happy with the Y. The workout facilities, locker rooms and…read morebathrooms are much cleaner than what I've experienced at places like LA fitness. I love that they have lockers with locks in the main workout area (you do need to bring your own lock for the locker room), although currently many of the lockers are broken so I hope they repair them soon. I've taken quite a few good classes here although the classes do tend to get crowded so you really have to show up early to make sure you have a spot. We also enjoy swimming both in the lap pool and with our son in the zero depth pool. The one frustration I have had is with the adventure room. This is a great indoor playground which my toddler son loves. However, unlike the rest of the facilities, it is covered in dust. I worry that if they aren't maintaining this area, not only is it covered in germs from the children, but they may not be regularly inspecting the safety of the structure. Overall, it seems like a safe playspace but anytime you have kids climbing at such high heights, a piece of broken equipment could become a serious danger. I always watch my son closely and check out the equipment myself while he's playing. The other problem with this area is that although there is an app with schedules, it is frequently incorrect when it comes to the adventure room. The open hours for children under five are very limited and as you can imagine, it is very difficult to get a toddler out of the house, bring him to his favorite place only to have to tell him that it is unexpectedly closed. I have brought up this issue to the staff multiple times, but it still has not been addressed. In general, I would say the Y is worth it, especially if you were planning on utilizing all of the facilities

So I came in here to tour the facility as I am in search of a gym to add on to the other place I…read morego. Gianna was the sales rep who helped me out and she was very lovely and gave a great tour and answered all of my questions. Although I have a decided to join a different gym based on what personally appealed to me and met my needs, this was a very nice gym and definitely suitable for those who take exercise/nutrition very seriously! I'll tell you about the gym based on my tour here and looking around. In the front of the gym as you walk in, you will see the front desk, a shake/smoothie bar, tons of clothes from athletic apparel to baby clothes, food options ... even proportioned meals in the fridge ready to go for those tracking macros and such, and vitamins/supplements. I think it's a great all-in-one shop for those serious about meeting their fitness and nutrition goals. Locker rooms were nice and equipped with showers and a sauna. The downstairs fitness area was pretty intense .. too intense for me, but anything you could think of to bulk up those muscles is here and they even have chalk. I was also informed that when it's nice you are welcome to take equipment to workout outside. The exercise equipment was also colored red and black which was also too intense for me ... I'm pretty low key (and aesthetically-pleasing for me is important) and I get a hard workout at the boxing studio so I was looking for a gym that had a more mellow area ... now upstairs WAS more mellow. It had more of the traditional equipment I was used to and less people where as downstairs felt more intense. There was some cool equipment in another room upstairs, but I was informed that room was for private and group training. But it had softer floors and machines to reduce impact on the knees. There was also a studio for classes and a spinning room. Also a masseuse on site who is also a trainer. Overall, it is a nice gym, and I think it's great for those really serious and dedicated to meeting their goals. I also know 2 trainers there from my other gym and a former trainer from a different gym (he now owns his own facility) so I can confirm they DO hire QUALITY TRAINERS because I have worked out under their instruction at 2 different places and they all pushed me to the max but were also personable outside of exercising. Like I said, I was looking for a gym that had some more low key areas because this will be something secondary to my regular place and rollerblading that I do in the nice weather, but if you're serious about getting strong (or whatever your goals ... they will go over them with you and pair you with the right person!) and also like the luxury of on-site meals, shakes, etc this is definitely the place to be!

Stopped in this past Friday, April 29, 2022 to check out the gym, take a class, and pick up meals…read moreover at Balance Body Foods. The gym was clean, offering a snack bar , coffee bar and gym attire appreal for purchase. This was my first time in a gym, in a very long time, since way before COVID 19 and wasnt sure what to really except when taken a class. My class choice was the 9 - 9: 50 am with Brandy for HITT Strength . The class consisted of 8 stations that were demonstrated prior to starting, which made me the beginner feel at ease, and comfortable. The music playlist was a perfect blend to get your seasoned veterans, as well as unseasoned like myself motivated to work and getting those muscles moving. If your looking for an instructor with a flavor and colorful personality give Brandy and her class a try. The lock rooms were clean, spacious and it was nice to see wipes for equipment and santizer. The smoothies helped replenish protein, after a workout, wide selection, may have been a bit pricey, but well worth it for the quality. Other staff, I came in contact were helpful and friendly which made the experience pleasent.

Men's room was clean and well designed. Sound silly probably, but the best aspect about it was the lighting. There's a newer design (finally) by LA Fitness to have much more subtle lighting in the place. Most of them you get blasted the second you walk in by harsh, oppressive, artificial light. It feels like you're walking into a surgical theater. But the new ones, the lighting is much more refined, I love it. I was in town for a week and was a big fan of this location. The only negative I could even muster was that I remembered I was working out over the remains of the old Holiday Showcase Theaters, where I saw classics like Goonies and Who Framed Roger Rabbit when I was a kid! :(

Full disclosure, I joined this group of studios. I tried them last year and found it too pricy…read more But then as I went around to other places in town, I just kept thinking about this workout format and the way I felt after doing some of the workouts. I did a trial run earlier this summer, and just bit the bullet and joined after that. As a result, Ive been to this studio a number of times recently, I found tis location to be perfect some days. Its much smaller than the Tonawanda location, which is good and bad. Good because there are fewer people in each class, bad because its often full for each class. Ive never been here with more than one instructor, and at Tonawanda's there is almost always 2, if not three but I imagine that has to do with size of class. The format is this - They create 6 workouts (Mon-Sat) which they then do for 4 weeks. Each workout is designed to hit different areas of the body, and some days have more weight and less cardio than others, they mix it up. Each class starts with the same tape to get everyone stretched out and ready for the next 50 min. Then there is a short cardio burst to get the blood flowing, and a longer section with some burpees or squats or whatever they think of. Then you pay attention while the instructor shows you what each exercise of the day is. By week four those demos don't take quite as long, but they still cover them all each day, and show you the various different levels for each exercise. Well trained group of instructors. Then the class starts, usually that portion is between 22-25 min. as you go from exercise to exercise. There may be some sort of 3 min end exercise, they often involve squats Ive found. Then the same cool down tape plays and everyone does that. Class ends as the instructor brings everyone into the middle for a "tip of the day". Sometimes those are super interesting, other times they are so-so. I don't think those are spelled out from corporate, I think they make them up themselves, which could explain why some are better than others. They have improved their website experience by joining mindbody, so that's nice. There is another location coming in Cheektowaga this fall. I look forward to checking that out too. This place is the home of the "6 weeks 20 lbs" challenge, and you'll have challengers in most classes. I cannot stress enough how much support these people get from the instructors and members in their goals. Most hit the goals if they show up to class and follow the diet plan. If you want to come try a class, PM me and Ill see if I can help make that happen.
