It's basically the law - you're in San Marco square, you go to San Marco book store. The book selection is ever evolving so there is always some new treasure to discover among the stacks. And often, I find books in there less expensive than Amazon. And there is a selection of books with author signatures as well, for no additional cost. Some of the signed ones have been ordered from the publisher, but a good portion of those come from live author events the book store participates in. There are so many wonderful events you can attend here, like the author signings mentioned above (and of course a slew of other things) And often, those authors will sit for a chat. I discovered a new favorite author when I accidentally stumbled into one of those events. It was neat to hear her discuss her book and answer some great questions. The. Store is also very involved in the community around them which I love. (The owner even participates in the group walks in the area sometimes!) They also partner with the library for some larger author signings and other events. If you love reading, this is a must visit!

Owner Jack Tolzmann has made it fully a comic book store now, devoting space that used to be shelves of used books to more graphic novels and collectibles. There's a selection of kid-friendly comic books at the back right corner and teen graphic novels to your right when you enter. New releases go up on the wall every Wednesday. This store has been helping Saint Augustine geek out since 1986.

I've been hunting MAD Magazines for the longest online doesn't help with people setting outrageous prices for them, once I collected my comics I asked the cashier if he had any MAD Magazines and once he said yes it was like the heaven sound I immediately left majority of the ones I had before and went through that box with an urge lol I found so many and took almost half since he had them for the best prices I didn't get the chance to get his name but the cashier knew his stuff me just browsing around and overhearing his conversation with someone else and him knowing so much about regardless of the topic I most certainly and definitely will be returning here no doubt it best service by far. The prices were on the medium to high side for used books. The guy in the store left us to ourselves and helped only when we asked.

It reminds of the little book stores I loved in Cambridge, MA. The Theory section is unmatched in the area and I often find books at a better price here than anywhere else (just picked up a copy of Seeds of Time by Fredric Jameson for around $20, which is around $6 cheaper than I can find used copies anywhere online). With the new Cathedral Oaks Parkway now open, I was determined to check out more of the local area…read moreby bike. As a fan of both books and coffee, I figured this this was the perfect place to start. The little cafe is toward the back of the business. On he way, you're surrounded by a multitude of books organized by genre. The barista was cold and did not greet. I tried to make a little small talk to get a feel for what to order since they're the experts on what they serve, but he did not seem receptive to the gesture. I settled ultimately on a caramel latte. Seeing as how they also had breakfast sandwiches on their menu, I was also excited to try out their sausage, egg, and cheese croissants. Needless to say, I was disappointed when the barista, without uttering a word, went over to the fridge, grabbed a Jimmy Dean-style frozen sandwich, unwrapped it from plastic, and threw it in the microwave without explaining that's actually what they served. The value and quality for drinks aren't bad at all, but compared to some of their local competitors, I've seen and tasted better. The food was a disappointment to say the least, but it does look like they have some interesting baked goods for sale for those interested. Service could use some improvement as well to promote sales on their books as well as inform customers that they're about to order something they could throw in the microwave themselves. I don't recall seeing indications for prices on the books, and at this point, I didn't want to try to start up a conversation with the barista again either. There is free wifi if you're looking for a place to work. For better or worse, there is also a children's area that could be a source of noise if you intended to find a relaxing atmosphere. I'd be willing to give this place a try again since some of these issues appear to be service-related.

This is what my retirement plans looked like, from the books to the coffee shop, to the local displays of baked goods and other items. Our barista was excellent. We were saddened to learn that this quaint place was on borrowed time, and time was running out. When the lease expires, it will be no more unless someone else comes along to fill the void. I certainly hope that the torch will be passed and this place can continue to bring good vibes to others as it did for us.

They know their job and they have years of experience. These people are super friendly! I don't understand how anybody could say otherwise. The store is always neat and clean. They take pride in their establishment. I love mom and pop places like this. Keep up the good work. I highly recommend this place. There are not many post offices with retail windows in this town. It is also a wonderful bookstore with cool sundries.

I've always passed this place for years and what caught my eye today was the one of the books I've…read morebeen eyeballing for years was included in the sidewalk sale. I went inside and was surprised on how much of a variety they have for good books besides the big box stores. Literally walls of books. I also thought it was unique how they priced their inventory (paper slip in the book). The fact that I got two books under $10 was a steal. The cashier was welcoming and was working throughout the store. I didn't get any actual pics inside but I'll definitely be back.

After I entered, the bookstore's short-tailed cat sauntered up and blocked my path until I gave it some attention. I passed this test and was allowed passage. I prefer paperbacks so I was pleased to find a room full of them. The selections of science fiction, fantasy and mystery were good. I was surprised to find some men's adventure novels from the 1960s and 1970s. I bought a Sharyn McCrumb mystery novel Sick of Shadows. When I tried to leave the cat was near the exit. It had seen a lizard.
