Set in a lovely home near an ancient ruin among cork trees far off the beaten path. The menu is typical Portuguese, at least to an American. Charcuterie, lamb and pork stews, fresh vegetables, hearty bread, delicious cheeses. We loved it. read more

Got some coffees, coke, a samosa and a rice ball for a snack. Just came together at 5 Euros. Talk about value...and it was even very tasty. There are other food items on the menu as well, in case you feel hungry, but we just needed a quick snack. Coffee quality was fine as well and it was nice to sit outside and take a quick rest from driving. Most supermarkets in Portugal have some coffee shops right next to. Like this one...and they are mostly very well prices. A great place for a snack and a coffee.

The server was multilingual and worked with us in English as we don't speak very good Portuguese. He was super helpful in showing and explaining all the fresh fish they had available, and for me making sure my gluten issue was addressed. We also had a delicious dessert of homemade chocolate mousse, and once again the waiter was very kind to point out which desserts had gluten and which didn't. Finally, he gave us a great wine suggestion that we really enjoyed. This was a laid back, traditional Portuguese food experience that totally hit the spot after our long day of hiking and we couldn't be more pleased that we picked the place!

We've had bifana a few times and are happy every time, we're not picky at all, but this was genuinely the hardest and driest, most inedible pork I've ever eaten in my life. We asked if there was any way we could get anything else. They took 20 minutes to get back to us, then brought the chef out. She said she refuses to make anything else or lower the price by any amount because "she made it as she made it", so we ended up paying 20€ for nothing. Such a weird experience honestly.

I said, 'We gotta go stand in this line right now!' Hubby, tired, had to find a washroom. So I stood in line, got this huge, hot, crunchy, amazing strawberry jam filled delight and spied him coming back down the street. For a second, I considered zipping out of there to stuff my face with it so I wouldn't have to share. But he saw me - too late. Pro tip:. The service was excellent throughout, attentive without being intrusive, which matched the overall laid back atmosphere perfectly. The space itself has a lot of personality, with beautiful art on the walls and an array of products on display that would make for great souvenirs or gifts. We ordered an espresso, cappuccino, a pink panther strawberry smoothie and a freshly squeezed orange juice, all of which hit the spot. On the food side, the breakfast burrito and the earth delight, a lovely combination of yogurt, granola, fruit, honey, croissant and jams, were both fantastic. The staff even brought out an award winning hot sauce to go alongside the burrito, a small but memorable touch. The crowd added to the charm too. A guy quietly working on his laptop with his dog nearby pretty much sums up the energy of this place. Calm, unpretentious and enjoyable. A great spot to ease into the day.
