As someone who has been part of the Roseville community for many years, I absolutely love seeing a small, family-owned business like Castles & Keys bring something so meaningful and different to our area. This is the kind of place I feel our community has been missing--something centered around kids, learning, creativity, confidence, and genuine personal connection.
There has been a real need in our area for more places where kids can learn something meaningful, build confidence, challenge themselves, and actually have fun doing it. Castles & Keys fills that space in such a unique way by bringing together two things you don't often find under one roof: chess and music.
Carlos is incredibly talented, but what stands out even more is his patience and the way he connects with kids. He meets them where they are, whether they're complete beginners or already have experience, and makes learning feel encouraging rather than intimidating. Lessons can be private or in groups, and I love that they can also work with schools and classrooms, which gives this little family-owned business the potential to reach so many kids throughout our community.
What I especially appreciate is that this isn't a big chain or cookie-cutter program. It's a true family-owned, local business being built with a lot of heart. Chess teaches kids strategy, patience, problem-solving, and how to think ahead. Music gives them creativity, discipline, confidence, and another way to express themselves. Those are things that stay with kids far beyond a lesson.
Roseville has been missing more small, community-centered places like this for a long time. I'm genuinely excited to see Castles & Keys here and hope our community embraces and supports them. They are bringing something really special to the area, and I can't wait to see what they build. read more
