I lived at Castle Pointe for a little over 2 years before recently breaking my lease over safety concerns. As a woman living alone I felt that I could no longer continue to live somewhere with so many apartment and car break ins. My neighbor across the hall had their window smashed and the cops were pounding on my door at 3AM to ask if I had any information about a "crime". Castle Pointe said that after this event they would be installing additional lighting and cameras on the property, but 4 months later and they still have not done so. They did install locks on the outside doors, however many of these are also broken. Last winter a skunk moved under the steps of my building. The smell was so awful that my eyes watered and I felt nauseated for several days. CP's response was "well that happens sometimes". They did not keep the residents up to date about the status of our new neighbor and it took over a week for him to be evicted (which we only figured out because the smell went away). I have lived in apartments for the past 20 years and never had a place give me plastic to cover the windows in the winter because they were so bad. However, take the plastic and put it on your windows or you will freeze! They will also increase your rent every single year by about $100 a month despite there being no improvements to the property and they will offer new renters a MUCH cheaper price. My apartment was very dirty upon move in and my shower was clogged with the previous resident's hair. My laundry room was absolutely disgusting and dirty. The price for laundry was high considering the dryer literally left burn marks on my clothes because it got so hot. The gym ceiling leaked whenever it rained and the machines would just sit in a puddle of water which didn't seem very safe. At one point every single treadmill was broken and it took 4 months for them to be fixed. Which is a bit ridiculous considering you have to pay $75 to have access to the gym 24/7. They did allow me to break my lease however I did have to pay the termination fee, despite being afraid for my safety. CP's redeeming quality is the maintenance team. All the guys are very nice, helpful, and prompt. The dog park is also cute but unfortunately a lot of residents don't pick up the poop. read more

I give this 2/5 stars as you do, in fact, get what you pay for. I lived here for over a year and I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!  As an FYI, you will get gaslighted. As you can see from previous reviews (see attached screenshots) the owners love to say "you must have the wrong place. We have no record of you". So please take their responses with a grain of salt. To confirm, I DID live here from May 2023 to August 2024. I lived off of Melling Way. The place was not clean upon moving in. Dark hairs were in the sink, on the counter. There were leftover dishes from previous occupants. There was a hole in the shower. In apartment building G, there is a hole in the wall next to the stairs that has been there since we moved in. Air conditioning does not work here! My apartment was 85 degrees in the day, 80 degrees at night. When maintenance came over, the gentleman said "It's gonna be that hot. It's 90 degrees out". This is simply not true. I was on the third floor. Yet, I had friends in different apartment complexes in East Lansing on the fifth floor of their apartments and their apartments miraculously stayed at 70 degrees. My air conditioning ran CONSTANTLY during the summers here and our air conditioning bills were often over $200 for a 2 bed 2 bathroom apartment. Additionally, the air conditioning was set to 70 degrees at night and 72 during the day, so nothing crazy. Maintenance did put freon in the air conditioner but that doesn't fix the fact that the units are very old and the apartment is terrible insulted (for example, I had icicles in my window during the winter) I did speak to Liz, the assistant manager. She was very kind. Maintenance, on the other hand, can get quite rude and tried to gaslight me into saying that an inside temperature of 85 degrees is completely normal. The leasing office is always closed. They say they're open 9am - 6pm Monday through Friday. What they don't tell you is that every other week, they will randomly send out an email at 1:00pm on a Friday saying they're closed now. It seems as though the employees don't want to do their jobs. This can be frustrating, as the Amazon Hub where your packages get delivered and the gym and pool are only accessible when the leasing office is open. You are able to purchase a fob for $75 to get 24/7 access. Mind you, most apartments give their tenants this same access for free since they are already paying for rent and the amenities come with the property. If you live here and want to use their amenities, just know you will probably have to pay $75 since this leasing office likes to close all of the time. The car lots are often full of cars that do NOT have licenses or updated tags. The leasing office sends out many emails saying your cars should be tagged, have a license plate, and be up to date. However, they do not follow through. I had multiple cars in my parking lot that did not have a license plate or their tags were not updated.  Overall, I would not recommend this place. It is not worth the money, time, or effort! read more

Yeah I've had a malfunctioning fridge since April then they came in August a nd still no working refrigerator they replaced 1 and the 2nd was bad as well had to throw out 60$ worth of food and called 3 xs since they came and replaced appliance for 2nd time and still not right, they don't help with anything here .. ...they maintenance a joke read more

I have been living here for 2 years. It is generally good living here with quite environment. The manager and staffs are really nice.

Our apartment is awesome! The staff is amazing always. Unlike other places I've lived, when I call in an order for a repair, I get help shortly no matter the the time day or holiday. Jeff is my favorite. He nods and says hello when he sees me on the property and always remembers prior conversation when he comes for repairs. That is an employee who deserves recognition! read more

I cant say its the perfect place to live but pretty close! staff is always nice and friendly, and maintenance is quick to help when we have any problems. I love that there are many events that are out together for the residence and you can meet other people who live around here! overall I think its a nice and quiet place to live. I spent two years here due to the cheap price and my just having graduated. However, I would urge you to look elsewhere. I called emergency maintenance regarding my carbon monoxide detector malfunctioning once and what did they say? they told me to handle it. it was my responsibility to spend money on batteries and fix it myself. there are COUNTLESS vehicle break ins, solicitors, and random sketchy people who come to your door after midnight. I have also experienced heated and terrifying physical altercations in the common areas of my building. they also have had the incorrect contact information on file for an entire year despite my attempts to change it upwards of 6 times. they continue to contact strangers via email regarding my residence. I have a newborn baby and will be moving as far away from this place as possible. very unsafe environment due to tenants, incompetent maintenance staff, and the details of my residence being constantly shared with total strangers. read more

This is fun and relaxing place to live at. We enjoy the amenities at the clubhouse, like the swimming pool, basketball court, workout room and other common areas. It's also quiet and eazy going here. They are also pet friendly and even accommodate the dogs with boo boo bags throughout the property. read more

Office staff is really rude, and unreliable when it came to relaying information. Maintenance is a team of really nice guys, but most of the time they have absolutely no clue what they're doing. Within the first weeks, our AC broke 3 times, and our dishwasher broke twice, and had to be repaired multiple times. On the outside looking in it looks great, but beware of this place. Castle pointe is not worth the money. read more

Rude, conniving staff. Heard terrible things about this place but it seems nice at first so I gave it a try anyway. They raise their price every year even though things are depreciating in value. They dont update their website, so you go in thinking you know the price but everything is more expensive. Their application, deposit, pet, and late fees are through the roof. Every other complex I've lived in or tried to live in gave me a pretty good idea of whether I would get approved or denied before taking my money. Castle point took a $50 application fee from me along with a $300 deposit because that's "policy." Then said I was $300 short of making 3x the monthly rent which you have to earn to live there. So I needed a cosigner that would also need to pay a $50 application fee. After paying $400 to this leasing office I was denied with a $100 taken from me in pointless fees that I needed in order to find a place to live. And they sent my $300 to my mom's address 2 hours away without asking me or letting me know I was denied. Kristalina said she emailed me and left a voicemail but did neither. I called to find out when i could move in and found out all this at the last minute. Leaving me without $400 or a plan. Would never recommend this place to anyone who works for your money and goes to school. Go look by the lansing mall or down town. The apartments are nicer, cheaper, and down to earth management that don't try to weasel money out of you. I would rather live DTN than Castle point now. Their management is 10x more susceptible to scam you out of money than DTN. If you have rich parents who want to pay $500 in fees for you and can cosign for you to pay over $1,000 in rent a month for an outdated complex then this is the place for you. Not to mention I've had at least 4 friends live there and none stayed for more than 1 year. Slow maintenance, facilities are not clean, and they will blow up your phone day and night if you owe them any money. Their number one priority is making money off students. Not providing a nice place for us to live so we will actually want to pay them more. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY. read more

DO NOT apply at Castle Pointe Apartments. We have had nothing but bad luck with them since we moved in. Not to mention the management has been nothing but rude and disrespectful to both my boyfriend and I. The ONLY time they were actually nice was when their intern worked with us and had us sign, after that, we were left to find out the intern had left, had messed up a lot of our paperwork, had not left a paper trail on a bunch of things, and we were left in mass confusion (both the management and us) and it has caused so many problems. Upon move in, after we did a full inspection of the apartment after signing the lease, not only did things start breaking, we had to have the carpet replaced due to a horrid odor that they tried to cover up with carpet cleaaner. Our toilet in the master bathroom never worked and when they did actually fix it, it is about to break AGAIN because they did not properly fix it. Next our garbage disposal also busted the 2nd day we were there. And on top of all of this, someone has continued to break the security entry door into the whole building itself multiple times and management has continued to not really fix it properly. Our power goes out at least 3 times a day, (and no this is not our power company's fault. They have said it is the complex itself). The gym and pool are useable, but ONLY if you don't work a 9-5 job, otherwise you have to pay an outrageous fee for a key to get into it anytime after 5pm. (which we have no problem paying for but we were not told this until AFTER we signed the lease). The amenities that they offer aren't really worth what you're paying for nor are they really what they advertise. If you have a problem, you might as well not even bother to contact them about it because they won't fix it unless you ask them at least 5 times. The security lights do not work half of the time and cars in the parking lot are continued to be broken into constantly. To add to all of this, they tried to withhold my mail and packages all because my last name was not on the mailbox yet, EVEN THOUGH I have been receiving mail and packages there for almost a month now. The list of things goes on and on and on. Basically, they only treat you nice to get you to sign and then they treat you like absolute crap. The staff is extremely unprofessional about everything and anything If you're looking for a nice apartment, DO NOT apply for one at Castle Pointe Apartments. You will regret it. read more

This is one of the worst apartments I have ever seen. Don't let the pictures and testimonials fool you (I wouldn't be surprised if they wrote all of them themselves). They have the worst maintenance staff, that you not only have to call multiple times to get things done. They don't fix your problem and will actually leave your apartment a mess. The office staff run by Shelly Resler which could not be any less helpful. Whenever my girlfriend had issues they never took care of them and they never even followed up as well. If you expect a return phone call for any issue, I hope you have great patience cause you wont hear anything back, unless they want something from you. They are literally morons that I wonder how Sterling Management feels that they deserve to be paid. The complex highly dangerous, my car was broken into twice (which nothing was done about on management's end). So if you value yourself and your belongings you may want to think about that. Sadly there is still more, the laundry facilities are DISGUSTING, if you don't mind washing and drying your clothes in dog and cat hair you will be fine. The only thing this is nice there is the swimming pool and entertainment areas, but I hope you don't mind sharing it with people that don't even live in the apartment complex if so you will be fine. Lastly after my girlfriend and I paid on-time for the last 12 months, we asked to stay in the apartment for 2 extra days because most people can only move on the weekend (for work purposes), they decide to charge us $50 charge to stay for the extra time for a unit that is not even have any leasers yet. I guess they weren't happy enough to make us suffer from the horrible service and conditions, they had to give us one more kick in the gut. If you care in anyway about where you live at, I would strongly suggest you avoid this place. Thank you for your time. read more
