As a parent whose children lived in College Manor for a combined 4 years, I can say that it was a…read morepositive experience for both of them. The location is perfect and the price is right. There are so many much more expensive options in this area, so its nice that college students can still get the experience & location at a price they can afford as a student. Although its an older building and doesn't have all of the amenities that some of the luxury apartments have, they figured out how to make choices based on needs vs wants. Management was always responsive and friendly, remembering us by name at move in/out, and anytime we'd run into him inbetwen. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone for an affordable place with a great location.

I loved my apartment college manor so much that I ended up signing for a second year! I loved the…read morestyle of the apartments. Being an old building, all the apartments have so much character. And you CANNOT beat the location! I never had to walk more than 15 minutes to get to class or to go to the library. It's right in the middle of everything. Close to all the restaurants when you want to grab a bite to eat. Close to several coffee shops if you want to study outside of your apartment. And most importantly, it's RIGHT above the bars. So when you want to go out with friends or have friends over before going out, it's super convenient. Also, my utilities were always very low as heat was included and I only had to pay for internet, electric, and gas. Something else that really sets this apartment above the rest is staff. It's one guy that operates and maintains the apartments, Ed. But he is always on top of things. I've known so many friends that have lived at big apartment complexes and whenever they had a problem with something, it took months to be addressed and/or for someone to come fix it. With Ed, all you have to do is call and he'll fix whatever it is as soon as possible. The ONLY complaints I have about this apartment are the parking and the laundry. There isn't parking offered for the tenants or their guests at all. If your friends live close by, if you don't have a car, and/or if you rarely use your car this won't be an issue for you. But if you want a car and use a car often it's quite the hassle. There a lot a couple blocks away at which Ed can get you a parking pass for. And it's not much at all to park there each month. I did that during the warmer months. And then during the winter, I paid the higher price to park at the various garages downtown East Lansing. And in regards to the laundry, there is no washer and dryer in the unit or in the building. So you'll have to go over to a friends or go to a laundromat to do laundry. Other than the parking and laundry situations though, I would highly recommend these apartments to anyone!

The building is nice, the location is super convenient, and it feels a lot more updated than a lot of other student apartments around here. The staff has also been great and easy to work with, which makes a big difference. Everything from moving in to just everyday living has felt pretty smooth. The amenities are nice, the place is clean, and it just has a good overall vibe. It's one of those places that actually feels good to come back to after a long day. Definitely happy with my choice living here. Here's an even more casual one if you want it: I've really liked living at The Abbot. The location is hard to beat, the building is nice, and it just feels a lot nicer than a lot of the other apartments in East Lansing. The staff has been friendly and helpful, and overall it's been a smooth experience. Super solid place to live if you want something nice and close to everything

The apartments are unkept. They do not make repairs and from what I hear, they basically don't give back security deposits and never make the repairs they are charging people for. Walls are scratched up throughout the building. Stains on carpets. Scratched flooring. Very dirty apartment that was never cleaned after the last tenants left. They advertise as a luxury apartment, it's not even close. Don't be fooled by the views they show on their website. Many apartments face brick walls and dirty concrete. You won't know what view you are getting until you arrive. EXTREMELY disappointed. Management acts like they care, but it's just a run around. This place is way too expensive for what you get! Look elsewhere.

    SkyVue

The WORST apartment building in every way imaginable. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! As someone approaching my…read more7th month living here, I can tell you it is NOT WORTH IT! The tour we received was extremely deceitful and here's a few reasons why: 1) Parking - the parking garage at SkyVue is worse than finding parking on campus for class. There is zero guest parking, and they WILL tow you if you attempt to overnight at the leasing office spots. Snow and ice is drafted onto every floor, making going up and down a slippery nightmare. Every turn is a dangerous blind corner. The gate at the bottom is very narrow, and it's been broken for well over half my time living here (meaning anyone has access to your vehicles). The top floor, where I park, has never been effectively plowed or salted. There was a point where I had to put my car in 4wd for a week straight, just to pull out of my spot. 2) Trash - do not let the "trash chutes on every floor" deceive you. Within the first month, all 9 floors had trash pouring out of the chute room. It has stayed that way my entire lease term. The pile is so large that it towers over the doors and spreads throughout the parking garage. Hallways nearby reek like month old garbage. Nothing like stepping on someone's leaking trash bag on the way to your car! 3) Living Space - when I moved in, our sectional couch was so worn down that there was hundreds of pieces of synthetic leather all over the floor. My roommate and I sweep every other day, and somehow it's shedding just as much as it did the first week here. We submitted a maintenance request the first week we lived here, and have submitted 3 since then. I've been told by multiple maintenance workers that "nearly every apartment has asked for new cushions" and "they are so back ordered I can't even give you an ETA". You'd think if this was such a widespread issue, they would order some more, but I guess that's too much work! 4) Amenities - this place is an absolute maze. It's shaped like a figure 8, meaning walking anywhere takes forever (and there's no signs anywhere to help guide you). The grand "48 person hot tub" that they flaunt like a 5-star hotel experience was broken within a few weeks of winter. It doesn't get above probably 95', meaning it feels more like a warm bath. The gym is okay, it's about the size of the lobby you start your tour in and they don't keep it functional year round. I was pretty excited about the Peloton, only to realize that the seat was broken and stuck at the shortest setting the first week I lived there! TL;DR: RUN, don't walk away. For $50-$100 more per month, you can live in some of the nicest apartment buildings in the city. Signing here was the biggest financial mistake I have ever made and I make it big point to make sure nobody younger than me makes that same mistake. The staff are lovely, but that's quite literally the only positive thing I can say about the nightmare that is SkyVue.

The complex is aesthetically pleasing, but that is about it. It is very loud here at all times. I'm…read moreconsistently woken up by people yelling at the pool at random times of the night, screaming in the parking garage, running down the hallways, or playing loud music. If you say anything to management, they tell you to call the on call assistant. Understandable. However, the on-call assistants have continuously done nothing to solve the issues. It's truly not even worth contacting anyone. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll be renting a hotel room during the week of finals and before important events in the future. The parking garage is rather narrow, and the corners are completely blind. You'd think there would be mirrors up to help? But nope. The gate is consistently broken as well, so judge the "gated" garage loosely. The pool area constantly smells like weed, despite the "nonsmoking" promise. So, don't have your windows open unless you want the smell to permeate your entire apartment. For a "high end" apartment, they do not reinforce any of their "rules" and the crowd that's drawn in has no consideration or respect for anyone else around them. The WiFi is pretty subpar as well, but it's free. I'd rather pay for my own internet and actually have decent connection, though. Also no guest parking sucks, though I do try to spend as much time visiting other people away from this complex as much as possible so it doesn't matter that much anyway. Overall, I wouldn't recommend living here. Not when there are cheaper places that are closer to campus. Unless you enjoy obnoxious places and/or sleeping in your closet to get away from the outside noise & people yelling right below you

If you're into the bar scene most of the popular university bars are walking distance (15 minutes being the farthest). The apartments are fully furnished which for me and my friends saved us quite a bit of money and hassle with moving. There is still a decent amount of room to bring your own personal items to make it more homier of course. Rent wise, I found that this was very competitive given the great location and furnishings. I don't want to make this place sound like a palace or nicer than it is but it is by no means a dump. Security wise I found it a bit lacking. Nearly anybody can walk into the building and get into the hallways so make sure you keep your door locked. But overall the area is safe and you don't feel like you're at risk. My biggest criticism is the heating. This place gets terribly cold during the long winters. And there isn't a whole lot of ability to control the temperature in the unit. However heat is built into the rent so there is that.
