I don't know what people are talking about with these reviews. This place is fantastic! We tried going this past Friday evening because we were visiting from Chicago/New York and couldn't do anything outside with the wildfire smoke. We couldn't bowl because they had a league using all lanes, but they gave us free passes to bowl another time. We had a great time anyway with arcade games and drinks. We came back during the day the next day and had fun bowling. The pizza, apps, and beer on tap are also great. We also loved the very Wisconsin aesthetic with the taxidermied animals...RIP animals. We didn't mind waiting the two hours to bowl, because we have been treated great in the past. However, after today's experience I have to give this place 1 star. Gavin sold us 8 games for 4 people only to cut the lanes in us and say we paid for three. Once that was explained and corrected per his error, he refused to apologize. Gavin expressed a repulsive attitude towards us. I was going to Castle 2-3 times a week and had a lapse of 2 months because I was out of state due to work. This isn't how you treat regulars or past regulars. Disappointed with gen z operating at Castle. Unfortunately, I'll be looking for a new place to bowl majority of the week. read more

I would give it 3.5 stars. I'm not a fan, but it's better than mediocre. I went there with my husband and two children, ages 5 and 3. With two shoe rentals, it cost us $55 (incl tax) to bowl for one hour. This seems a bit much. Castle Lanes was decorated with care, and had some nice aesthetic touches such as little wood fires all over the place (sterno can hidden in sticks) and really incredible artwork on the ceiling dedicated to each person who bowled a perfect game. It doesn't allow smoking - with little kids that is a giant plus. The scoreboards are great, too: it has fun graphics and even an accelerometer reading so you can see how fast your ball was moving. Was the facility worth $55 for one game? (That's all we got through in our hour.) Guess it depends how much you like bowling. I will say it seemed crummy to have to pay the same amount for an adult as a 3 year old. Also, $2.50 for shoe rental is just plain greedy. The shoes were nothing special: standard bowling shoe fare, ugly as crap with soles as pliable as a piece of pressboard. Castle Lanes is quite a bit nicer than the average smoky dump, but still, it is a bowling alley. It appeared Castle Lanes wasn't hurting for business, but in the recession, when everyone is looking to cut back on spending, it might want to rethink some of its prices. Just a thought. read more

Not the best experience. Dee is nothing short of rude. She has NO business dealing with people let alone children. We will never be back and it is 100% Dees fault. Place was clean...pizza was good but Dee was rude and condescending!!!! Thanks for ruining my grandsons 8th birthday! Ugh I am so upset! read more

We came at 5pm on a Friday. We sat down at the bar and waited for 15 minutes while we watched a guy helping the 1 or 2 people on the bowling alley side of the place. The worker saw us, but never came.... It was really weird. Most likely won't be back there for an after work beer. read more

It's a great bowling alley with an outstanding pro shop staff. I brought a new ball in to have it fitted and drilled. Lenny did it on the spot and had my ball finished in about a half hour. I was able to immediately use my new ball which I was very excited about! Thanks Lenny, you made my day!! read more

This is the nicest bowling alley I've been too. I love the woodsy theme, and the bar is nice. They often have deals so previous comments are honestly irrelevant. I've been here 6 times and have never had an issue with the staff. Shoe rentals come with the bowling price. On Fridays they have a family deal for $50 that is for up to 5 people, includes soda, a large pizza (from derangos) 2 hours of bowling and shoes. read more

This is maybe my favorite bowling alley I have ever been too. One reviewer described the decor as "thoroughly Wisconsin," which I'd say is exactly right. I am not from the area, so I immediately felt it had more of a "Grand Canyon lodge" type feel, but upon further inspection, "thoroughly Wisconsin" hits it right on the head. Castle Lanes offers their bowlers nice cushion benches to sit on between roles, instead of those typical hard plastic seats that so many alleys seem to have. Castle Lanes offer an all you can bowl in one hour deal for $12.99/person. The drop ceiling tiles are decorated, commemorating bowlers' 300 games. A nice touch I thought. Shit service, every 30 min, it was a 10 min wait, the after 45 min it turned into a 2 hr wait for 1 lane....

Fun to bowl - lanes can be a little slick sometimes. I'm no ace bowler but I am in a league there. Some of the lanes just seem greasy. Drink prices are cheap. Bowling cost with a coupon is cheap. Volleyball leagues are amazing! Great time on Thursday nights! read more

Was very excited to come to this place, however my first time i went they were having a bowling tournament, got told to come back 20 min later thats when lanes were going to be available again. Came the 20 min later, got told there were none available by a different employee, angrily asked who told us to come back 20 min later. Eventually gave us one. The second time i came, they were also having another bowling tournament, got told there was going to be one open in 15 min. The place was very crowded so my group of friends and I decided to step into their volleyball area to wait, about 5 min later, a hispanic guy came out and told us very rudely "you guys can't be out here, y'all would been locked out" . The door was not closed nor was there any sign anywhere to "no go outside". Also no diversity in this place. No need for your employees to be so rude specially when we love bowling and we would of def came back if the employees weren't so rude! read more

open blowing was open from 2-5 on a Saturday, so we went at 2:30 and they only had 10 lanes open. They were all filled and there was a 45 minute wait. The other 14 lanes were being cleaned for leagues, which weren't until after 5pm. The service was terrible, the guy that helped up was very rude. Also, the lane was shutting down and not working correctly the entire time we played. Will not be returning. read more

Castle Lanes was once musty medieval in décor, but is now thoroughly Wisconsin log casino-ish. It's very up north, but very nice. They have touch screens, clean house balls, and an overall pleasant atmosphere. The ceiling tiles are covered in memorials to 300 games of yore, which are surprisingly well done and entertaining to look at. Apparently, someone named Al Zeitz dominated Racine bowling in the 90's, and if the tiles are any indication of his tastes, the man loves cartoons. Cheap beer, nice lanes, great place! read more

Sign at the front desk says, "bowling every day, anytime". When we went, we were told open bowling is only available after 9pm (and Sat). Not sure how that is everyday, anytime! Guess we'll find another place with better hours. read more

I came here with about 5 boys for bowling and their families. It was our 1st time to castl lanes.We did have to wait a short time to get a lane which was understandable. However what happened at this bowling alley was unacceptable. One of the young boys accidentally put the bowling ball in the middle of the lane and walked down to get it. We were greeted very rudely and angrily by a worker which I thought was unnecessary he could have came and talked to the parents. It was his first time bowling for that young man. As the night went on a woman named Dee was the manager told one of the young man's that his bowling time was over and shut the lane down. As we saw her talking to him 1 of the parents approached and she continued to yell at him saying the boys were Throwing the bowling balls. I would expect that she come to the parent. There were 4 adults there and we saw nothing liken that happening. But even worse then they call the police and had us escorted like we were criminals. She said we were warned repeatedly which is a blatant lie. The only time someone came down wad when one the young boy Accidentally threw the ball in the middle of the lane. To have a family thrown out of a bowling alley because of that and escorted by the police is the most unprofessional behavior I've ever seen. There were 3 young children which were petrified thinking their parents were being arrested.I spoke to the manager and she refused to give me her last name I asked for the owner's name which she did give me I have called the owner twice and left messages with no reply. On top of Being mistreated at the bowling alley which is supposedly a family place there were league players on both sides of us which were cussing all night long. I would warn all families to not go to this place it was a very unpleasant experience . read more

Told us it would be thirty minutes for a lane. We waited 40 went back and were told it would be another hour. Supposed to be open bowling but over half lanes blocked out for leagues. Don't waste your time. read more
