We contacted Matt K of Pudas Construction in the summer of 2022 for an estimate to replace our…read moreroof. It was a challenging time to get a roof work done. All of the roofing companies were quite busy due to recent storm damage. Some didn't return calls, and we even had a couple no-show on scheduled estimates. Matt K, in contrast, was extremely responsive and reliable. We left a message on a weekend, and he called back that same weekend, and scheduled a time for an estimate within a few days. He came for the estimate at the appointed time, and promptly emailed us a detailed, thorough, and competitive bid. He then answered all of our questions thoroughly and knowledgeably about the proposed work and process. Matt was easy to talk with, explained about roofing in terms that we could readily understand, did not up-sell, and provided honest evaluations and recommendations from his decades of roofing experience. Shortly after that, while we were still evaluating our options, we had a leak concern. In response, Matt was able to juggle schedules to fit our replacement in quickly. His crew (led by Brendan), was efficient and careful, and were able to complete the tear-off and replacement in a day, even though winds reached up to 20 mph some of the time. They also left our property neat and tidy. Someone who saw them work told me that he would without reservation "heavily suggest using them again!!!" (His three exclamation marks, not mine). As a bonus, Matt also has a good eye for color. We went with his color recommendation, and really finds that it looks nice against the colors we have. We hired Knight Construction this past summer to complete a total kitchen remodel project with…read morecustom cabinets, new hardwood fooring and the resurfacing an old brick fireplace with stone. We asked Knight if they could complete the work in just six short weeks as my family (my husband and three kids under the age of five) were moving into a small apartment for three months due to timing differences in our close dates. They accommodated the request with the caveat that the bulk of the work would be completed by move in and that finishing/warranty work may need to extend another week or two. Upon signing the contract, we immediately began working with Kristin, the designer, to ensure fixtures, flooring and other items were selected and available upon closing on the new home. The day after signing the close papers, the dumpster was delivered and Jeff our project manager began demolition with his crew. I won't tell you that the project was seemless in every instance and without a couple of minor glitches. But I can tell you that in ever instance, Gary and team worked with us immediately to either remedy the issue or help us find the best solution to accommodate our budget concerns and ensure our move in date wasn't jeopardized. Over the past 10 years, we have remodeled two homes and built a third. I have used three different Companies for each of these projects and I would without question hire Knight Construction back to do another project. Over the short few months we worked with Gary and his team, he always kept his word and remedied situations that weren't up to either his quality or ours, which were minimal. I appreicated the fact that three months after the project, I'm still able to call and ask him to look at something I think got missed in the warranty period. In both circumstances he's sent someone over within days to address my concern. I would recommend him to anyone. His work is quality and it's beautiful!

Dream Kitchen ALERT!! We both love to cook and entertain, but the 90's kitchen was just not…read moreworking for us anymore. We wanted a large island with plenty of working space, and no matter how big your house is everyone ends up in the kitchen! We began our search for a contractor, we received 3 bids and hands down Matt at the Caliber Group was the best! Why? He was honest, he was creative with ideas and brings a designer in to help bring ideas to life. He was not the least expensive but not the highest bid. What absolutely sold me was the island. Due to the size we wanted, he was the only one who said we need to reinforce the floors. I know that sounds crazy, but his attention to detail was very clear to me. We signed his contract and started our dream project. Matt communicated everyday on what was going to happen, or as he calls it "our homework" (what we needed to move or cover). He had the most professional sub contractors I have ever met or worked with, and when you have strangers coming into your home that is very important. Our Dream Kitchen turned out even better than we could possible have imagined. All the details were perfect! The cool floating shelves, the garage doors to hide all the appliances, and THE ISLAND! I recently bought retaining wall blocks, brick pavers, gravel, and sand from them -- about $1300…read moreworth. ISSUE #1: They delivered the wrong color retaining wall blocks. When I questioned the driver, he insisted they were the correct color. So I installed them. I needed a few more, and when I went to pick them up they brought me the correctly colored ones, so I asked that they come and pick up the installed ones (which I uninstalled before they came, but I did not haul them out to the driveway) and replace them with the correct ones. ISSUE #2: The same driver that insisted my blocks were the correct color was sent to pick up the wrong-colored blocks. He needed to go into the backyard to collect them one by one. I was not home at the time, but when I returned, the gate through which he had to pass 30+ times was sprung (i.e., it had been forced to open further than the hinges were designed to open, thus bending the hinges so that the gate would no longer close completely). Though I did not see this happen, there is no other person who would have been at our house that day, let along going through the gate. I informed the business that this had happened and they said they'd send someone out to take care of it. A week later, I was tired of waiting to be able to close the gate in order to contain my twoLabradors, so I bought new hinges and fixed it myself. A few days later, when I returned the wooden pallets to the business (in order to get my deposit back for them), I mentioned that I'd like some consideration for this. ISSUE #3: The "clerk" at the register adjacent to the one I was at spoke up and said "That's not the way it works! I'm one of the owners. I spoke to the driver, and he said the gate was open and he didn't touch it." I said "So, my claim is totally discounted because your driver said he didn't touch the gate." He said "yes". I said I'd had multiple problems dealing with them, and he said dealing with my order had been a total disaster, and directed me to leave in an aggressive tone. I must say that all of the other employees that I had dealt with were very helpful and friendly -- noticeably so (ignoring the fact that the driver had been dishonest about his mistake). However, this part-owner's very aggressive and unfair approach totally soured me on this business. UPDATE: After I emailed the part-owner (who was the offending party referred to above) indicating that I had posted this review and a similar one with the BBB, he treated the issue with the type of attitude that a customer should expect. He reimbursed me for the cost of the new hinges plus $20 for my time to replace them. His emails to me on this issue were much more civil than was my one encounter with him at his business.

Jeff did two jobs for me. Job#1: My kitchen drain was clogged and he came out the same day and…read morecleared it out. The blockage was over 25' into the pipes! Job#2: At one of my rental homes, we had frozen pipes due to poor insulation in the unfinished area of the basement. Jeff came out same day, fixed the issue, and sprayed insulation to prevent future issues. I have worked with handymen for 20+ years and must say that Jeff is one of the very best. Plus, he's a great guy and a pleasure to work with.

Within days, he evaluated the project and had a reasonable quote sent our way. The work took a little longer than we thought because of a structural issue found during demo, but Jeff found time among his other jobs to finish ours and we couldn't be happier with the final result.
