For some reason Jake a Thoroughbreds appears to have taken some secret oath not to do this. This place is amazing. A small shop that doesn't inspire complete confidence from its humble exterior, Jake, the owner, and Mike handle almost all general car repairs. You can bring a car into him almost any time they are open and he will stop what he is doing, immediately take a look at your car and let you know what needs to be done. The idea of charging money or having to wait to find out what is wrong with the car is completely foreign to Jake. Now here comes the best part, if something doesn't need to be repaired or somewhere else will do it for cheaper, Jake will actually tell you that and charge you nothing. I just went into him to have my leaky radiator replaced and when I asked him about also getting new tires he said he would do it but "To be honest Alex, you are probably better off taking it to a place that specializes in tires, they will do it for less money." My mouth nearly hit the ground. It is not that Thoroughbreds is dirt cheap or some amazing free give away. They charge fair prices that are about average for the work they do BUT you will not find a place that has faster service or more genuine mechanics.

Mark was extremely helpful over the phone and made time to take a look at my car the same day. I was afraid it would be a larger repair (catalytic converter) but he called back within 2 hours to let me know it was the spark plugs and coils. He gave me an estimate and his recommendation along with a cheaper option, in case I couldn't afford the more expensive repair. Work was done within 24 hours with great attention to detail. Mark, Tom, and the entire team were friendly, professional, and honest. In the interests of cost, I have driven pre-owned cars most of my life so I'm no stranger to the inside of an auto shop. I have gotten lower estimates but I think I rather pay a little more knowing I'm in good hands and I think everyone can agree with that. Now, the staff was very welcoming and very nice so I was talking to the staff about lowering my car and doing other repairs in the future and they basically told me that I shouldn't and that a lot of mechanics will turn away modified cars due to their geometry and needing a special lift.. but I am still going to haha, I'm a little stubborn so hopefully they will still service my car in the future and be my permanent mechanic going forward! To set the tone of this review, I have trust issues with Mechanics and dealerships (more than…read moremost). After my trusted mechanic closed shop I was roaming the area finding mechanics that I just didn't feel comfortable with. I drive past Norwood car care every day and on the way to work. One day a few years back I hit the annoying RR Crossing on Old Hook and my exhaust just gave out. I limped into their shop and was in and out quickly and for way less than I assumed after internet pricing the exhaust parts. Since then they have been my go to for oil changes, repairs, etc. My latest used car purchase needed tons of suspension work which they did very well and for a fair price. I recently dropped the car off for a major repair, I was out of town and approved the estimated cost to repair the worst case scenario before they even looked at the car. Once the car was apart they called me to let me know it was not as bad and gave me the actual estimate. They had the opportunity and my OK to bill me for much more, but didn't take advantage of me. I feel comfortable leaving my cars there, and happy to have found a new shop I can finally trust.
