I'll start by saying . . . I'm a little spoiled living in a city with elite food and service, so I…read morealways factor that in when I travel. Mr. Porter is a vibe. Great ambiance, incredible views, and a solid overall experience. Service in Europe is . . . different. Not bad, just not what I'm used to, so I try not to let that impact things too much. One thing I do want to call out: my daughter's friend has a severe allergy to seafood, nuts, and kiwi, and the staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. That wasn't our experience everywhere in Europe, so it definitely stood out and was appreciated. We went simple with two steaks: the "Mrs. Porter" and a bone-in ribeye. Mrs. Porter needed a little more seasoning, but the ribeye was . Sides? Honestly don't even remember them . . . which probably says enough. The highlight might've been the "Mr. Fox" dessert. They bring out this chocolate fox head, pour liquid nitrogen into it, and crack it open tableside. Super cool presentation. Dessert itself was good, not amazing . . . but I'd order it again just for the show. End of the day: great ambiance, great views, good food, and a fun experience. I'll definitely be back.

We then were sat in the corner away from any guest/ felt very selective. Let me get to the billing. They charged us 9.00 euros for still water which we DID not order and they did NOT ask us if we wanted that. On top of that, they will add a 8/9$ gratitude fee. Only giving 1 star because the bread was pretty good (only good thing to say!). I say don't waste your time or money here, and save it for somewhere else down the street. OH- and also if you are simply coming here for the view of the city, all the windows have a striped film which prevent true views of the city.

It's always a challenge to find really great restaurants when traveling in Europe, sometimes you…read moreend up with just okay tourist food, but not the case with De Nachtwacht! So, I had made reservations on Thursday evening, but our plans changed and we had to cancel. We tried again the next night, but had to pay a non-cancel "deposit" of 10 euros each for our party of five, 50 euro. But we were sure we could make it and booked. Now if you're thinking that the deposit was charged due to our prior cancellation, it's not the case since another person in our party booked the second reservation. It was well worth the deposit! Firstly, the location is in the Rembrandt area and very nice and active area. We were seated just inside the restaurant, with a very comfortable table, seats and window. The ambiance is great with popular music playing and a very bustling staff that is very attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu is vast and includes a lot of great options including French favorites such as frog legs and snails. We started with an adventurous order of the frog legs and they were amazingly good and the sauce was amazing! We ordered a bit of family style including the Cote Beouf, French onion soup, baked potato, fries, vegetables, chicken, ribeye. It was the perfect amount for the five of us and left room for dessert, which we ordered as a brownie and we asked for a custom dessert of ofogato, or ice cream with espresso poured over, an Italian favorite of mine! The price is reasonable and can highly recommend!

Since we came pretty late, none of the appetizers were available and only steaks. Which was fine for me, since I didn't want to waste any valuable calories on anything but steak. Ordered a massive Côte de Beouf (800 grams or 28 ounces) and some Grilled Vegetables on the side. This was an extremely well-cooked steak! European medium rare borders closer to rare than medium, which is fine for me as long as the steak is cooked well. Quite tasty! Service was fine, no complaints from me. Honestly can't believe I've never been to De Nachtwacht before. Definitely need to come back.

This restaurant came to us as a recommendation from the concierge from our hotel and we are so glad…read morewe listened. It's a nice little place, you can sit in the front of the restaurant where the chefs are cooking or the back dining room, away from the outer doors. We opted for the front, it was neat to watch them cut and cook our meat. We went with the Wagyu carpaccio, scallops, and tuna tartare as the appetizers. These were all absolutely incredible. So fresh tasting, made to perfection. The right amount of flavor. Next we ordered the tomahawk. We didn't realize until after we were eating that it was bison. It was so fantastic, I'm actually glad we didn't know because neither myself or husband had ever tried it before so it gave us the chance to try something new that we may not have ordered. It was cooked perfectly for us. The right amount of pink. It was so tender to chew and in my opinion the right about of fat on the cut. The lobster was great, it had the right amount of butter than a slight hint of lemon, not overpowering. The breads were good but the butters stood out, absolutely heavenly. So creamy and flavorful. I am going to dream about this when we leave. The broccoli/cauliflower and mushrooms were just ok to us, nothing gave us a wow on them. Overall the meal was fantastic. My husband said it was the best meal in his life. Our server was very kind and attentive. The chef and owner were also exceptional. Everyone made us feel very welcomed and taken care of. We never felt like we were being overlooked or ignored. We would recommend this place if you're looking for a great meal and service and not a bad price tag. For the quality of food, the price is on par with that and worth it all.
