A local…read moredowntown told me to make sure to tell them while buying a watermelon to pick me a good one and I will never return if they won't. I stopped at one of the stands spoke to a younger guy and asked him to please find me the sweetest one they have doesn't matter the size. He went and picked the biggest one... meanwhile I was having a chat with the lady at the same stand. I asked her again will that be a sweet one? I guess she felt bad and told the guy that it will be pink inside... she went and picked me another one herself. The one she picked was a winner! One of the most delicious sweetest watermelons I've ever had! So yeah if you go make sure you insist on them picking you a sweet one! Unless you know how to pick it yourself

WELLLLL!!! let me tell you "YOU AIN'T TASTED NOTHIN LIKE THE TOMATOES FROM UNCERTAIN FARMS". Apparently, they're grown on a hydroponic farm in West Texas, they are HUGE, juicy, and flavorful. I eat them all by themselves. I haven't tried his home canning YET but certainly plan to. When I've gone by there is always SOMEONE raving about his canned goods (especially his candied jalepanos - but I'm a whimp when it come to hot stuff). You'll have to get on his website to find out where he's at because he travels from place to place. I found him at the Helotes Market Days (1st Sat of every month) and at The Legacy on Sundays. It's certainly worth tracking him down. When you see him ask about getting an entry form to win an iPad. He's part of the co-op Revive America Today and they are giving some lucky customer an iPad to be given away at the Helotes Market Days in February 5th.

They are always so nice and you can sample any flavor before you buy. My favorite is there seasonal peach chipotle goat cheese. It's sweet, has a kick and is delicious. Love the chunks of peach in it. At the end of the season (I was told this year it would be available until the end of August), I'll stock up on a few more to freeze. If I had one complaint it's that I can't get it anywhere in San Antonio but the Pearl farmers market on Saturday (at least that I know of). Their feta comes in a pint jar in extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, roasted garlic and sun dried tomatoes and is PERfect on a spinach salad no need for any dressing with just a tiny drizzle of the infused oil and feta. Then I had the pleasure of meeting Chrissy (the eldest daughter for which the farm is named) at the downtown FM. Other than feta I have never been a fan of goat cheese - too sour funky tasting for me. Until Chrissy sampled me some of their Chevre and explained that their goats are pasture fed and hormone and antibiotic free AND the cheese is richer and creamier in the winter due to increased fat during cold winter months. Chrissy suggested it served with warm roasted beets - they have a recipe on their website that is divine! If you can not make it to the downtown Farmer's Market and meet the family in person you can find their cheese at Antonelli's and Specs.

This is more like a street party with food trucks, venders and artisans. They shut the streets down. There's a huge stage with a band. Food trucks line the streets. Another area is venders and produce, seafood, and even home made items. Restaurants open their doors, they even have a small table out on the sidewalk sampling drinks. YES, looks like you can walk around with a drink in hand. I saw people selling beer in copper mugs. White Claw booth. ZAO was giving away 12 ounce drinks as well. So impressed. Had a great time. I did pay $3.00 for parking. I'm sure there is free street parking. But since I don't know my way around. I just paid at the first lot of saw that wasn't full. Well worth $3.00. I think it was for 2 hours. Can totally see people spending their whole day here getting food, listening to the band enjoying the sunshine, as the rain storm we got. I'm from Austin, and seriously, I would drive down here and spend the day here. Epic time

Stopped by on a trip down to New Braunfels and was really impressed with their selection (both…read morelocally grown produce as well as some internationally imported food items and snacks). They also carry a number of jarred items (honey, molasses, pickles, jams, sauces) as well as locally raised meats and I enjoyed going aisle by aisle looking my through their inventory I was also happy to see that they carry a number of gluten free items, including flour and pastas that I'm able to find at my local grocery store. I also loved that they have fresh baked breads and desserts, as well as sandwiches to order to go (didn't try any on this visit, but they looked excellent online!). I did pick up a bit of their jalapeño beef jerky which wasn't super tough like jerky sometimes is and also was super salty, which was appreciated. The staff seemed friendly and ready to help. Across from the store is a bbq spot with seating and I'll be sure to visit there on my next visit. The ONLY reason why I couldn't give a 5-star review this time is I had a very hard time finding the prices on a number of items (especially in their freezer/refrigerated sections). It made it a bit inconvenient and I didn't want to keep going up to the counter to check the costs each time. Other than that, I'd highly recommend a visit!

Pecos cantaloupes come from Pecos County Texas and are farmed by the Mandujanos brothers. They…read morefarm about 300 acres near the town of Coyanosa and are about the last folks still producing. At one time, in the near past (about 2000), nearly 10,000 acres in the Pecos region were planted in cantaloupes, Now most of that region has been taken over by the oil and gas industry. They do sell to grocers like HEB, but the stores have no idea when the product will be in stock. When they do get them, they sell out very quickly as the consumer is so hungry for them. Due to that, there is a large pent-up demand. That is where Jamie Mandujano comes in. As part of the family, he has taken to trucking in product and selling it from his truck/trailer. I found him a couple of years ago in Wimberly, Texas. We talked for quite a while and I mentioned the fast growing Spring Branch area as a place he should try selling his cantaloupe. Last year he took me up on selling in the Spring Branch area and was very successful. Successful enough that he is back in 2020. Jamie is the friendliest and most dependable salesman. He puts you on his email/text list and lets you know in advance when he will be in your area. Along with his wonderful Pecos cantaloupe, he also will bring different fruit and vegetables such as peppers, onions, and water melon. He also introduced me to Israeli cantaloupes which are so sweet. If you have never had a Pecos cantaloupe, then you have never had the best! Get on Jamie's text/email list so you will know when he's in the area. You will not be sorry (except for beating yourself up in never having those cantaloupes before).

They gave me a discount and all... they were nice... still when I got in the car and compared the discount between this place and the farmers market there is probably a good $5 difference... Then I got followed by one of the guys wanting to give me a half watermelon from his freezer. I believe it was used for sampling... it was all damaged... cut... I declined gently... he kept on insisting wanting me to eat it... I had to firmly say no! He was about to open my car door and put it in there... it was watery... soupy... for a moment I got worried about damaging my car with it too! Finally he understood that I don't want it! I am sure it was a really nice intention on his part... it simply made me feel uncomfortable having to decline it The watermelon I bought from them was good and not super sweet
