The hotel sits right on the Glengariff harbor; the front-facing rooms all have wonderful views. The rooms are good-sized but perhaps a little spartan. Eccles has recently opened a spa with three treatment rooms and a so-called relaxation room overlooking Bantry Bay. Treat yourself! You can enjoy a drink or a snack on the front porch or a casual dinner in the Harbor Bar. But go to dinner at Garinish Restaurant -- *especially* if Eddie Attwell is around. Eddie is a superstar in the garden and in the kitchen but he's low-key about his accolades. Better yet, he's over-the-top friendly and fun to chat with. We've been lucky enough to have 7 or 8 different dishes that Eddie prepared, including several that weren't on the menu. All were memorable. One of my favorites was a simple but extraordinary beetroot salad with creamy Irish blue cheese. I enjoyed my first ever buckwheat risotto. And the desserts! The brownie made with a beer stout -- more please. It's too bad that Eddie is 5000 miles away. I'd be eating there all of the time.

The food was fresh and well prepared and creatively presented. The desserts were particularly wonderful! The staff was friendly. Great meal!

She really wanted to engage and make sure we knew about breakfast and some of the sites in Glengarriff. The hotel itself seems very recently remodeled. Everything was in great shape and clean. The beds were incredibly comfortable [or maybe it was the long day climbing Blarney Castle] but I had a great nights sleep. The next morning we got up for breakfast in their very nicely decorated dining area. They also have a great looking bar with plenty bottles of wine. They had cereals and yogurts with some fruits and granola at the buffet. After a few minutes they brought out the most amazing raison scones. Warm with butter and some orange jelly is the right way to start your day. I got eggs with mushroom, sausage and the thickest cut bacon; it was so good. The area and location of this hotel is perfect for anyone wanting to relax, explore or just get away. Everyone we interacted with at this hotel were "seasoned" ladies that were super friendly and wanted to interact with you. They weren't there just to do their jobs but wanted to know where we came from, our plans. I hope that we can come back soon and stay for a few days!

The bathrooms are huge too which i think always gives an air of luxury to any room! I think the fact that it is new is definitely on its side because the rooms have a very modern air about them. The staff in here are lovely too and you can have dinner or a drink downstairs in the hotel restaurant or bar. The great thing about this hotel is its location. It is right in the middle of the village so whatever way you turn you will hit a pub or a shop or something interesting to look at. Despite being in the village its not too noisy so you can good refreshing sleeps to keep you going for another day of touring around west cork!
