We stopped here for lunch during our Ring of Kerry tour. The stew was plentiful, hearty and extremely flavorful! It was packed with tender lamb and root vegetables cooked perfectly. The Bread & Butter Pudding with warm custard was the perfect way to end the meal with just the right amount of sweetness.

Our large party had a some warm comfort food here. An hour or two to kill for lunch. There were seafood chowders, Irish stews, Shepherd's pies, chicken curry, lasagna and of course you can't go anywhere in Ireland and not get fish and chips, right? I had the chicken curry, it wasn't bad. My mother had the seafood chowder, she enjoyed it. The staff are very accustomed to tour groups and buses stopping by here every day, they run a tight show and know how to get people in and out in a timely manner.

Highly recommend the seafood soup. It is creamy with big chunks of seafood. I wanted a light lunch and this stop was satisfying especially the views while you eat.

Our tour group stopped by here for a quick lunch. Thankfully we came here early because on our way out, three more tour buses stopped in and the place became really crowded. Ordering food here was really easy. It's cafeteria style ordering so we grabbed a tray, utensils, and ordered our food--for the most part was already prepared. I ordered the shepherd pie and it was yummie!!! When I was paying, an employee helped me to carry my tray and seated me at a window table. The views here are outstanding! There is a little gift shop before you enter the area to order. Try not to get too stuck in this store, otherwise you'll never eat! The line for the food moves relatively quickly but because so many tour groups come here, the line can be endless. Make sure to take a picture outside the restaurant. The views are incredible. Hopefully the weather cooperates!

Our bus stopped here on the Ring of Kerry Tour, as so many others do. I was very impressed with the organization of this restaurant. There was really no margin for error. As stated, you wait on line in the gift shop. The lovely woman as the cash register gave us helpful advice on what to eat. There is the usual touristy things to buy. Each customer was assisted with purchasing their meal and escorted to a table. We were lucky enough to get a table with a beautiful view that we shared with bus mates. We had the Seafood Chowder which wasn't the best we had on our trip ( nothing can beat Gus O'Connors in Doolin!). But, it was pretty darned good! It comes with a piece of brown bread and a pat of Irish butter. Add a pint of local beer, and it makes for a delightful lunch.

I had the Shepherds Pie. Homemade and you can taste it. Beautiful view overlooking the water along the Ring of Kerry. Staff was friendly and efficient in this cafeteria style service. Also had the bread pudding. I'll skip it next time as I prefer it warm.

Food/Cost: (3.75) My tour group stopped here for lunch during our ride along the Ring of Kerry last week. After going through a cafeteria-like process, I received my order of Seafood Chowder (5.95 euro) and slice of the Carrot Cake/Bread (3.95 euros). The food here is a tad bit expensive, but I suppose that is understandable due to its prime location, lack of competition for a long away around, and the fact that this is a visitor's/tourist's joint. Price aside, the food was enjoyable and both my soup and carrot cake were obviously homemade from scratch. The soup was heavy laden with chunks of fish and seafood. The carrot cake made me feel healthy eating it was only slightly sweet and there were large shreds of carrot and chopped nuts throughout. The texture is not soft or fluffy by any means; it was more crumbly and slightly drier like that of a healthy bread or bran muffin. Still, it was great chewing slowly on the cake while I gazed out at the view. Ambiance: (3) The ambiance of this place revolves around one thing -- the view. There are large windows all along the wall facing the Bays and that's where you want to sit. The decor is nothing special, bright red walls, with dark wooden tables and chairs throughout. In the winter this place is a bit too dark; but I'm sure it picks up a bit more cheer during the summer. Location: (5) Scarriff Inn is located along the drive around the Ring of Kerry, midway between the towns of Waterville and Sneem, and is a great place to stop for rest and some food. It overlooks the Bay and is perched high above the water to give customers a great view all around. This is definitely a top notch location -- I'm sure diners and inn-stayers would all agree. Service: (3) As the food was ordered cafeteria style, there was not much service. The lady serving us behind the food counter was cheerful enough; and the boy bussing trays, clearing tables, and directing people to their seats did his job, but was otherwise nondescript. Overall: (3.75) If you're driving along the Ring of Kerry and need a place to rest and refuel (food-wise), this is the place to go. Still, be ready to pay a bit for the view and convenience. I imagine that this place would be packed during peak tourist months. Because of the great placement of this Inn and its view, I'll bump up my final rating on Yelp to a 4, otherwise the price was a bit off-putting despite some delightful homemade food.

Best Atlantic Seafood Pie ever! It was a bit foggy, but, I understand the view is also spectacular.

A tourist trap, but the food was pretty good, and the view was better.

Westcove House - Ceilidh in the game room

Westcove House

Let's talk about Westcove House…read more It's ridiculous. It's magical. It's idyllic. It's one of the happiest places on earth. The grounds include the 18th century main house, the garden cottage, the stables, and pier cottage. The land encompasses expansive lawns and lanes, an inlet, and Westcove Harbour. Friendly goats and sheep roam the the property, and adorable seals swim and bark in the harbor. Accommodations are appointed absolutely beautifully here. The main house bedrooms are decorated with period furniture and antiques that evoke 1700s Irish manor house, and the downstairs dining and sitting rooms, as well as the bar and loft area, are a mixture of modern and antique. The house is just lovely and so comfortable. A partially sunken sitting room houses a fireplace perfect for those incredible-smelling peat fires in cooler weather, and the bar area includes a fireplace as well. The stables, garden cottage and pier cottage are all outfitted in more modern decor; the stables include a large, bright, airy game room with darts, table tennis, foosball. On one of our visits, the hosts (whose cousin, Susannah Adlington owns Westcove) threw a traditional Irish ceilidh in the gameroom with a live musicians playing jigs and reels! Adding to the amazing experience of staying awhile at Westcove House is the food. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by the wonderful, friendly staff at Westcove, Katherine and Bernie (there's also the lovable Michael, the groundsman). The food is delicious and beautifully presented, family style, in the formal dining room. One year we were here for Thanksgiving -- Katherine and Bernie, obviously never having celebrated American Thanksgiving before -- did meticulous research about traditional Thanksgiving foods and prepared a spread that outdid any I've seen before! The attention to detail at Westcove House is impeccable. Westcove's location right on the Ring of Kerry makes it a perfect base for exploring southern Ireland. Cork, Shannon, Bunratty or Blarney Castle, the Skelligs, Kenmare, Cobh, the Cliffs of Moher, Waterford, Killarney Forest are all potential day trips. We've *loved* our stays at Westcove. They've been some of the best and most memorable vacations we've had. There's no better place in the British Isles.

Just gorgeous to wake up every morning and have coffee outside while taking in the beautiful bay and go for a late night (albeit cold) swim right outside your door! My other family members stayed in the other guest houses and the main house and EVERYONE was thrilled with the accommodations. The Stables is great for families, with a game room and big lawn in front for playing. The food was always delicious. How wonderful to have Jane's Bakery literally right next door so you could have fresh pastries in the morning and grab some lamb guinness pies (mmm!!) for dinner. Everything is high tech with wifi in all the houses and great kitchen equipment. Amazing sites nearby like Derryname Beach and Staigue Fort and also great day-trip accessibility to other cool destinations like Castle Donovan or The Skelligs. HIGHLY recommend this place and will DEFINITELY be returning!
