It's just really gross. The smell of pizza and sub sandwiches don't mix well. The one star is for the good doughnuts.

The servers are nice but definitely have that slow town feel where they talk to customer for quite a while. Given it's a serve yourself buffet, I can't complain. The place itself was part Val's family portraits and part Huskers. Seems about right for Nebraska. It was cozy and inviting. They had plenty of options and all the favs here. And if anything was low or sat for too long, they are more than happy to refresh. I really liked the dessert options that I never get when ordering to-go. The prices were actually surprisingly reasonable. And to top it off, kids under 10 eat free on Tuesdays. Not a place you can eat too often and maintain your figure, but we will be back!

Runza only has gluten free fries and we just made the decision to try out Valentinos and see if it's still good since my husband had it growing up. This is a buffet style restaurant, even though you can order your own gf pizza, but we ordered it for the Buffett and they bring it to you to get as many pieces as you want before they put it on the buffet for others to eat. Soooo nice!!! We got a meat lovers gf pizza and it was surprisingly yummy!!!! We enjoyed the salad, the small town, and we had the nicest waitress!!! She explained our options for gf. We are not buffet fans but we had a lovely time and if we are traveling through Nebraska City again, this is the only place we will stop. (There is a cute cafe in Auburn NE that is with a stop)

My work colleagues and I got sat and were informed of a long wait as there was only one server - cool. No problem. It happens. We are sitting about 20 minutes when a table of 8 gets sat next to us. The cook immediately came from behind the counter to bring water for them. We were still sitting there with nothing. Our server came over - apologized and got our orders and brought out our drinks. Our salads came out and all was well. Then we waited and waited. We were informed that one of the potato pizzas we ordered couldn't be made because they were out of potatoes. No big deal. We changed the order. Then the group next us - who came in 20 minutes after us and ordered after us all got served their pizzas(including a few potato pizzas). While we waited and was not served. Finally realizing that our diverse group of 5 was being shafted for the very non-diverse group of 8 we asked for our pizzas to go and we left. So if the intention of Il Lazzarone was to make us feel sidelined and "othered" - congratulations. Job well done. Because we left there being reminded of just how how bigotry feels. The pizzas was still great in my hotel room. But you will never see a recommendation from me or dime of my money again.

It wasn't far at all from I-29 and we were not disappointed. We were greeted by Courtney upon entering the business, quickly and thoughtfully seated in a quiet corner away from the potential drafts of the front door as it was cold outside. Her suggestions were spot on and we had the Ceaser Salad and Bruschetta to start. Healthy portions and fresh ingredients for sure. Then we had two pizzas and it was perfect considering we had a couple of big eaters and we were hungry. Prices are fair and reasonable for the quality and quantity. Plenty of parking off street, nice people, clean and hospitable. I highly recommend Il Lazzarone and we will be back the next time in the area.

Great Neapolitan style pizza, with classic and unique flavors. It's a smaller pizzeria, so if you're going on a weekend, get there early or maybe set a reservation. They do have bar seating and do online orders for takeout. I've had both and a great experience. Service is always great and friendly, with overall a welcoming feel. There is some outdoor seating considering it's in the millwork commons, so a great idea for a warm day too. The meatballs were a wonderful and classic appetizer but if you're an olive fan, I couldn't recommend the fried olives more! They were surprisingly flavorful from the fry and paired with the calamari, I was a huge fan!

Pizza crust somehow still has zero flavor, and the toppings can't make up for it. We got the prosciutto pizza because it has arugula. So we had the arugula flavor. There was a nice balsamic vinegar reduction applied extremely sparingly. I got the Brussels sprouts again, I wasn't as impressed with them today as I had been last time, but the pizza was a bit better so that evened things out. I did not order a dessert so I don't know if they are still suggesting the affogato when asked about a sharable dessert. I was hoping that this visit would show me that my previous experience was a fluke. Everyone seems to like the place. I am just not finding any flavor here. Super boring.
