He ordered very, very rare, and explained to the waitress that he wanted it even rarer than the photo shown as rare on the menu. When it arrived, it was well done. He sent it back, and the second steak was medium well done! He ate part of it, but when you order an expensive steak, you should get what you ordered. Many had there food arrive overdone, and COLD! My wife ordered onion rings - they arrived hot, but burned - even the onion inside was BLACK - the waitress offered to bring her new ones, but she declined. ( Who wants to get their food when everyone else is already finished eating?) Even people who got their food on grill platters had cold food, because the grill plates themselves were ice cold! I think the people that had ordered shrimp were content with their food, but most were not happy. Sorry, but I don't think our group will be visiting again any time soon. We got into MSP late, the rental place only had EVs left, and suddenly The Rivers Family Restaurant became part of our charging strategy. Honestly, not a bad problem to have. The food was quite good both times. It was exactly the kind of hearty, comforting meal you want on the road. And the staff was very personable. The contrast between the two visits was interesting too: on a random weeknight, service was excellent and quick. On Sunday after church, they were absolutely packed and warned us service would be slow, but even then it moved faster than expected and everyone stayed friendly and on top of things despite the crowd. The vibe is very much friendly family restaurant. Not fancy and no frills, but clean and comfortable. A solid place for a meal.

Well, what a nice surprise…read more Local friends brought us here to celebrate a birthday. A cool restaurant right next to the highway makes it easy to find, with plenty of parking around the building. We walked in and didn't wait long for a nice table by the big front windows. The ambiance feels like a cozy cabin getaway in the woods. I liked it! The service was suitable for a busy lunchtime; lots of people at the bar watching several sports games, including some of the FIFA game. Cool for them! And appreciated by me. Duffys is known for its wings, with several flavor options on the menu, but I didn't have those. I ordered the steak fajitas--it was a generous portion served with tortillas I'll definitely give this place another try. I'd like to come back during winter so I can enjoy the difference in seasons. And gotta come back to try those famous wings!
