We spent Valentine's Day at Cascade Trails in Joshua Tree from 2-4pm and it was truly the best experience for both kids and adults. Being able to pet and feed the horses and other animals was such a special, hands-on experience - especially for my daughter and her cousin. The entire staff and volunteers during our time there were absolutely amazing! So kind, patient, and welcoming. You can genuinely tell how much they love and care for every single animal. The horses, the other animals, and even the sweet dogs roaming around were so well cared for and beyond loved. We forgot to bring carrots for the horses and grapes for the goats (don't forget that on your visit)!! It felt safe, personal, and so memorable. My daughter did not want to leave. We had a wonderful time at the ranch this morning with my three kids. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. The owner, Chris, is incredibly helpful, and the entire staff is warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about what they do. My three kids absolutely loved riding the horses and petting the baby goats, meeting the chickens, turkey, and seeing all the other animals. It was such a fun and memorable experience for them. I've been wanting to come here for sometime. Visited with my daughter and she was in awe with baby goats. We loved the horses too. We got to see a baby foal of six days. We got to feed the horses carrots. If you come bring grapes for the goats. They were booked solid for sunset ride. Next time for sure. If you want to ride make a reservation for sure. So glad I found this place! We spent about an hour amongst the cutest horses, chickens, turkeys, dogs, and goats. BABY GOATS. This is an animal sanctuary and Chris was kind enough to share his stories about the animals, some which came from not so great pasts... but they are now living in comfort and clearly loved and cared for. It was such a lovely and unique way to spend an hour, and something we will never forget. Pro tip: stop by the Grocery Outlet before your visit and stock up on carrots for the horses, grapes for the goats (though they would probably eat anything you offered them), and veggies for the chickens and turkeys (we brought radishes and they were a hit!). You can book a guided trail ride and even camp/glamp out there amongst the stars and horses. An animal lover's dream!! read more

What an amazing experience! We stayed in the La Luna which was so spacious, beautifully furnished, and so peaceful. We warmed up to a fire at night which was conveniently located right next to the dome. Most importantly we enjoyed our time with the wild mustangs, the friendly doggies and the cutest baby goats. We loved doing the interactive experience with the horses and learning about the mustang sanctuary and the background stories for each of the horses. This trip was so magical and nothing really compares. I can't wait to come back! Heaven on earth. read more

We had a great time "glamping" here. Booking the yurt was easy. The property was nice and The animals were lovely! The staff was ok. Not overly friendly or welcoming to be honest. But that is what it is. The tent itself was nice and spacious enough. The I really took one star off because the damn rooster crowed all night long. I don't know how anyone got a wink of sleep. I booked with Mustang Trails after watching a few tiktoks and everyone gave this place a great review. I wanted to suprise my boyfriend for his birthday with this experience and it was amazing. Our instructor was on point, she was very attentive making sure everyone was guiding their horses correctly and responsibly. It was my frist time ever riding a horse, which they ask when you first arrive. They paired me with Trey and I just fell inlove with him. This was such a beautiful & healing exeperience. The dogs are all so friendly and cute PET THEM ALL!! Don't forget to thank the staff & bring your horse plenty of carrots, they deserve it! Beautiful and peaceful long trail ride through the desert and oasis. The horses were very well cared for and staff was authentic and experienced wranglers. Facility is clean and the owners of the Ranch were beyond welcoming. Be sure to have your camera ready for stunning views and listen to the wranglers as they share stories, histories, landmarks and horsemanship. Amazing experience, host Chris was great and answered all our inquisitive questions. Make sure to bring carrots for the horses and grapes for the goats... you're allowed to be in the area with the goats, ducks, and chickens. The goats climb all over you, are super docile and adorable. Dress for utility; the goats with nibble anything including clothes & shoes. The horses you feed from outside the fence. Also lots of cute pups on property! We didn't stay overnight, just booked an hour visitation with the animals. A must do in Joshua Tree! (A bit tricky to find, it's off a dirt road but the address is correct; it will take you to a dirt driveway with two silver horse statues at the front.) read more

FANTASTIC morning ride experience for our family of 4 with kids ages 8 and 11! BTW, it was hard to find a place that would allow kids under 12 to ride. The horses were lovely and gentle and guide Julia was great at explaining the idiosyncrasies of each horse and keeping the group together. Hubs and I throughly enjoyed our horseback riding experience here. We booked a sunset riding experience and it was perfect. When we arrived on the property we were greeted at our car by the most friendly rescue dogs ever. To my surprise about 5 of the dogs joined us on our riding tour. It was great seeing them run around free on the trail and I'm pretty sure they enjoy the ride/tour just as much as we did. The horses (Little John and Tray) were sweet and well behaved. Our tour guide and owner, Chris, was great. Friendly, and very knowledgeable not only about his animals but also about Joshua Tree and the surrounding area. During the ride he captured the best videos of us riding the horses. He also offered to take a few pictures of us on the horses before we took off. Reserving our ride on their website was simple. Next time we come to Joshua Tree, we will bring our kids and enjoy a family ride here at Cascade Trails. I highly recommend this place. read more

What a magical place!!!!!!!!! We stayed for one night in a yurt, did the horse ride and horse care package. Chris and Marissa are so knowledgable and passionate about what they do. Every moment was such a treat, it's been a month since we visited and we can't stop talking about it...and can't wait to return...We especially bonded with Semoura and her daughter...and Molly took great care of me for our sunset/full moon ride. The puppies and ranch dogs were so friendly and lovely..and the goats are hilarious. I HIGHLY recommend you make the trip and stay with Cascade. The tents were very comfy and private. We enjoyed smores and whiskey fireside all night. It's also close to town so we opted to have dinner at a local restaurant, though we could've used the BBQ to cook. Also, yes you must use porta potties to use the restroom, but they were VERY clean and actually smelled pleasant. They take very good care of their facilities and clearly are passionate about rescuing these beautiful horses. Book your stay, and maybe we'll see you there! read more
