While sitting behind "the glass" for days at a time isn't my favorite activity- some research facilities make it easier than others. Assistance in Marketing (AIM) is just one of those places. First of all- they do a great job recruiting the right people for the research based on the criteria that has been provided to them. Oftentimes, I have to ask participants to leave as they have not been properly screened, but such was not the case with Aim. The facility is centrally located, has parking for the clients and the back room is spacious enough to accommodate even the largest client groups. The sound systems work, and the temperature is controllable by the client which is also an issue at most places. But the real treat? This research facility has it's own chef. No catered in food that has to be re warmed. No food that you cannot bear to eat. Just freshly prepared salads and sandwiches for lunch, and dinners that rival local restaurants. This morning- they even made custom crafted omelets for those of us in the back room. A much appreciated break from the coffee and donuts that is usually provided by most facilities. Research is never going to be the favorite part of my job. But if it can be made a little more bearable with places like AIM!

I was fortunate enough to be involved with the Mazda company as a test driver for a little bit. AIM was the hiring agency that provided the drivers for them. When I went into the AIM office, I was greeted by one of the staff that helped me fill in my paperwork and sat me down to answer some questions. It was very simple and relaxed. The process was fairly quick and they always give you a call when they have openings for positions that you qualify for. I would definitely check them out if you are in need to temp jobs to find. Parking is very spacious for this location. I would doubt that it ever fills up or that you would have a hard time finding parking.

The only reason I gave one star for this recruiting agency is because zero star is not an option…read more This is the worst, untrustworthy, money-hungry recruiting agency I've ever dealt with and you know there are many. This agency placed me at a very lame company, and when I discussed with them, they made up a story saying the company will put me in charge in a few months, in order to keep me there for 3 months so that they can collect their fee. The company never even mentioned that they will put me in charge. They don't give a hoot. They just want to collect their money.

After working for SMCI at my current employer, I was hired full time by the company I had been placed at. It's a large company with excellent benefits, but I never would have sought them out without having been placed there by SMCI. I found out recently by accident that I could get credit towards the retirement plan for the time I worked as a contractor, however, you must provide a W-2. All companies with a pension plan must do this as per IRS regulations. The fun ensued as while we still had the tax forms for those years, the W-2 was missing. SMCI no longer had the information, as it was 20 years ago (I know, gasp, a long time), however, they kindly provided a letter of employment verification with the dates. Our tax preparer also didn't have the W-2. You can go to the IRS, however, they only go back a certain number of years. I was finally able to get some documentation from Social Security for $70 and sent it in. It was rejected, however, one of the options was to have the leasing agency provide a letter stating that you had only been placed at my employer by the agency during the dates in question. I contacted SMCI again. Within two days, they provided an employment verification letter with the updated information. A shout out to Rosy who was very nice and helpful. It was the decent thing to do, and they did it without any expectation that I might be available to work for them again. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to say, in my experience SMCI was a good agency to work for.
