Jeff was fantastic during the application and move in process. Barry was the coolest maintenance guy. I would quite literally hire him to be my handy man if I could. Kristin was phenomenal. She was always there when I needed anything; from removing someone off my lease, lockouts to working with me at the end of my lease. I was able to work out terms with Kristin when submitting my notice to vacate to leave earlier than expected. She saved me from paying an additional DTE and Renters Insurance bill and I appreciate that a ton! As for the apartment itself, it was very spacious and well maintained. Maintenance was always there in a timely manner. I had zero issues with anything while living there. Overall, I think the management and team at Village Place is awesome. The amenities could not be better. I just wish people abided by the rules to keep the pool open 24/7. Other than that, I had a great experience. You cant beat the price for the space and private entrance. 10/10 recommend.

Beware of Village Place Apartments…read more I really wanted to like this place... Jeff is awesome and made the application process super easy and quick. If you're going to tour or apply here I highly recommend dealing with him. I've been here almost two months now and have had nothing but maintenance issue after maintenance issue, and then issues resulting from their "fixes." Their maintenance manager let himself into my apartment, without even introducing himself, to fulfill two work orders. He's young and demonstrably lacks professionalism. My first two maintenance orders were to unlock the garbage disposal and to snake the bathroom drains, both of which he did, but left a mess in both bathrooms that I then had to clean up, and walked all over my white bathroom rug with his work boots on thereby ruining the rug. I washed it three times, but still couldn't get the stains out. The garbage disposal, dishwasher, and hot water heater were all replaced within my first month. However, the dishwasher being replaced wasn't done entirely right, which ended up causing flooding in my kitchen that I had to clean up and then it still didn't drain so two more work orders from that repair (after two work orders which led to them just replacing the unit in the end). There is absolutely nothing luxury about these units, at least not my unit. The counters are so old and now porous that they're impossible to keep clean. Spilling anything with color immediately stains them. Dripped tea as I was pouring it... stain. Strawberry juice.... stain. Not a super big deal because the units are very spacious and they let people sort of make their outdoor area their own (flowers, grills, etc.), but if you're wanting actual luxury this isn't it. The light switches don't even match. But again... spacious. And you can paint so that's nice. There is constant knocking in the walls of my apartment, maybe pipes banging but not sure, and the office staff is literally not doing anything about it. When I first the work order the maintenance man blew me off suggesting that it was the upstairs neighbor walking around. When I reported it to the office though he jumped into action to scratch off the most likely causes, but that left them scratching their heads and now my follow up email went unanswered. I have not had an uninterrupted nights sleep since I moved in here. Almost two solid months of being woken up every single night, multiple times throughout, by banging in the walls... and it's not the neighbor upstairs; he hasn't been in residence this whole time due to surgery; I actually have no immediate neighbors, so I know it's not anyone else. It's gotten to the point I let them know I'm filing a complaint with the county housing commission... My work and life as a whole are starting to be significantly impacted by this because I'm always exhausted. Today they had an exterminator come out to look for rodents/animals in my apartment as follow up to my constant complaints about banging in my walls. It was established over a month ago that there is zero evidence of any animals having gotten into the walls, nor if there any evidence of animals inside my apartment, they came into my apartment and put down completely inhumane glue traps. The property manager offered to move me to a different unit and when I questioned why she just doesn't trouble shoot this problem she started getting emotional and accusing me of yelling (which I was not). The property manager is a nightmare. The slightest bit of confrontation and she immediately starts gas lighting you. If you need anything absolutely try to engage Jeff. . I'm only two months into this and have no idea how I will make this work for an entire year. I was going to give this three stars because Jeff has been mostly nice and the new maintenance man they transferred over is seriously great. If you're a vampire you'll love this place, but if you need sleep then you should probably rent anywhere else. Edit- the property manager told me flat out she did not want to "open the drywall" to look at the potential for plumbing issues. So no, they have NOT done everything they can to resolve this issue. In fact, despite over a month of complaining they only came out twice very briefly. How awful of me to not be able to recreate the noise for them on the spot, even though I've sent MANY recordings at various hours. If I did transfer units I would be financially responsible for movers and repainting, so it really doesn't matter that they would waive the unit transfer fee. The property manager is worried at their budget, not the well being of residents.

I'm going to keep this review brief, because I'm not sure who goes to Yelp to see apartment reviews…read morewhen there are so many other apartment reviewing websites out there. My wife and I lived here almost a year now and are moving out at the end of our lease soon. In brief, the positives: -Low price ($499 for a one bedroom; price is listed at $549 now) -Pretty spacious on the inside (750 square feet) -Lots of closet space and basement storage -Good location along Telegraph -The pool was very clean and maintained (tennis court NOT) -Office staff is friendly and knowledgeable -Parking is decent -The balcony (which we had) was very nice. The patios (which we did not have) looked like tiny, broken pieces of slanted concrete. -Maintenance is very quick and reliable (comes within one day for non-emergencies). I only had to call them twice. -Parking lot was always plowed immediately by their own trucks, and sidewalks shoveled and salted The negatives: -Very old buildings. Everything was old and rundown . Definitely in need of a makeover (especially since the price is increasing) -Poor insulation from the outside climate -Inefficient heating/cooling ($192.00 electric/gas bill in winter, even with minimal usage of the furnace)... two vents didn't even work -No paid utilities (except cold water) -Very gritty on the inside (a layer of grime on the windowsills and behind the appliances in the kitchen) -The walls probably had a dozen layers of touch up paint on them, and it looked like it was painted by the lowest bidder (visible holes painted over, streaks, and drips) -The Section 8 kids from next door freely used our pool without question -Bugs could easily get in from gaps in the walls and doors -I lived in a relatively quiet building but could easily hear the lady downstairs (right down to what she was watching on TV) I guess you can say it's worth the low price--one of the lowest prices for a one-bedroom apartment in the area. But, you get what you pay for. You can pay as little as $25 a month extra for any number of nicer apartments in the area. My wife and I moved here as our "first home," and it was good for a starting place. But, I definitely couldn't see myself living here in the long run. If you have a little more money, try somewhere else.

I have lived here two years and have had absolutely no problems! I actually was going to move out…read moreafter my first year just to move closer to work, and when that fell through the day before my lease was supposed to be up, the manager rushed to find me another apartment and moved me right into another building (since the apartment I was in was already set to be leased to someone else)! The managers, Marlene and Rusty, are great, and have always fixed any problem I've had. The only problem I did have were some noisy teenagers that moved in downstairs, and all I had to do was call them and it was taken care of. The apartments themselves are HUGE; over 1000 square feet and are so cheap. I pay $519 for a two bedroom. The apartments are fifty years old, but I haven't had to call maintenance too often and when I have had to, they've came right over. The complex is nice and everyone is super friendly. I have never seen anything negative with the neighboring buildings and it's a pretty peaceful neighborhood. I would highly recommend this complex...I have loved living here! It was the first apartment I moved into when I moved out of my mom's house, and I'm glad I chose this complex.
