The staff is outstanding, always there to help We stayed 3 nights, would have stayed 4, but our first time there they were fully booked for the next night. On our return trip we made sure we booked the 2 nights ahead of time. We had started our trip in Budapest where our Viking river cruise began. It was our first time on such a fancy trip. We are Pilgrims at heart, which is why we extended our trip for 3 more weeks. We ended in Amsterdam but took a train to Lourdes, then Bayonne, we were looking to hike an obscure Camino route " Camino del Batzon". It went from Bayonne to Pamplona. After our first day we found how obscure it was, Almost all the hotels had shut down due to lack of pilgrims. Time for plan B, we decided to go directly to Pamplona. We backtracked to Bayonne, then a bus to Pamplona, where our first stay was at this hotel. What a great city and made better by our hosts, so we hiked from Pamplona to Longrona and back. This was our shortest Camino, but I can now say I've been on all 5 of the major ones. Three complete from 2015, over 850 kilometers and 4 credentials We have stayed in Alburques on every Camino, so don't think this is an "Alburque", it's a nice place to re center. So thank you Hotel Campanilla for making everything easy and welcoming of Pilgrims. Buen Camino.

Great service, and even better food. My family and I were staying at a hotel in the vicinity, and…read moreLa Bekada stood out among the options nearby. Although we were ushered to the corner of an empty dining room, I could tell the diner's atmosphere was sophisticated but laid-back. Our server was pleasant, patient, and eager to flex his English skills. To whet our appetites, we began with an off-menu salad (waiter recommended) that came with a lump of mouth-watering smoked goat cheese and a some type of crunchy worm-like fish. Looked a little strange, but tasted quite good. We then moved on to shrimp, chicken, and beef croquettes (little fritters), which were playfully arranged on the branches of a miniature tree constructed from coiled wire. The outsides were thin and crispy, with gooey centers infused with notes of rosemary. For our main courses, we ordered two paella platters: one Mixta and one Negra. Now that's more like it. THIS-- generous helpings of colorful cooked rice bursting with meaty toppings and rich flavors-- is exactly how I envisioned the renowned Spanish staple. The Paella Mixta was buttery and smooth, with a combination of shrimp and chicken. The rice was actually the best part and paired nicely with the lemon. The star of the meal, however, was the Paella Negra, white rice doused with squid ink and cooked in a seafood broth with assorted sea critters. As a rabid seafood-lover, this pitch-black preparation blew me away with its savory taste and perfectly cooked calamari and shell-on prawns. This place has gotten mixed reviews elsewhere on the internet, but I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. Dare I say it might have been the best or second best meal we had during our stay in Spain!

For an appetizer, we had the shrimp (gambinos) which came in a garlic butter sauce. They were delicious. Bread was also included as an appetizer (they will charge you for bread even if you didn't ask for it). We also had small peppers stuffed with fish in a creamy sauce, personally I loved these but others in the group weren't fond of the consistency. As a main dish I had the filet (IT WAS HUGE compared to the sirloin). I had mine medium, although it was very pink, it was so tender and juicy! With the meat they serve it with potatoes that have been sliced and cooked in a butter garlic sauce, that was just as amazing as the meat. They also serve it with cooked tomatoes that were delicious as well. Overall this meal was fantastic. This meal falls in my top 2 of places I ate while in Madrid. The owner was so sweet and helpful of my friends who did not speak Spanish! Everyone was kind and patient and made an effort to communicate. 10/10 ...ALSO! We had a Summer Wine for drinks which to die for, it's lighter than a sangria and refreshes you!
