Not very tourist-friendly, we arrived in Lisbon in the morning and wanted to have something small as we arrived here between breakfast and lunch, let's call it brunch ... No menu card or display with the menu anywhere to read of what we can order. When the waitress wants to take our order and we asked what we can eat/drink as we sincerely don't know what we can order, she was very displeased and impatient with explanation. For some reasons she didn't want to give us a menu card ... even though if it would be in Portugese, I don't mind it as I can look it up on my smartphone. Anyway, after some explanations about unavailable sandwiches, she suddenly said she will give us more time to think about it ("To think about what???" was what I was thinking). When the coffee arrived, my friend wanted some milk and sugar with it, she waved and stands in front of the counter, but the staff was pretending that they didn't see her.
We decided to quickly finish our meal and leave. When we payed, the waitress asked if we have 70 cents, we gave 70 cents with pieces of 10 & 20 cents and she gave us a glare.
Not a pleasant first encounter of this Lisbon trip, as I went to Portugal already a couple of times, I know that the Portugese people are in general not like this, so I guess she had a bad day or whatsoever ... but it still doesn't mean you should treat people like this. Hopefully they are more friendly to local people ... read more
