It is very close to the airport and everything else in San Juan. If you plan to stay mostly in San Juan you could get away with just ubering but we did rent a car. There is not lot but we had no problem finding street parking for the week that we stayed. We stayed in the Muse room. To be honest, this was expensive and more than I would have liked to spend but the hotel was so good it was worth it. You are a block from the beach and they provide beach towels and chairs. We did two beach days near the hotel and it was honestly perfect. The beach is amazing, very blue even though it's in the city. I felt perfectly safe walking around this area. It is technically in a gated community so it is very nice. Right outside the gated area are a bunch of restaurants. The food at dreamcatcher was also very good. They provide free coffee every morning and then pay as you go food from 8am-1pm. Everything I ate was very delicious. The menu changes frequently so if you see something that sounds good, get it! My favorite thing was the tofu huevos rancheros. It was incredible. They serve a dinner on Friday nights that was $65pp but we skipped to try some other things. The courtyard is also very cute, great place to get pictures and sit back and relax. I can't wait to come back. Puerto Rico has my heart!

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a retreat in the city of San Juan. It was…read moreabsolutely beautiful to wake up to the waves crashing every day and having coffee on the beach each morning. The vibe: cool, trendy, laid back. The restaurant: gorgeous décor, mostly great food, delicious drinks right on the beach at your lounge chair! The staff: all very friendly - I especially loved Joanit and Aminda, who made me feel at home! The service: very good except when I asked for a bowl for my dog, they refused. They said they only have outside bowls for the beach that can't be used inside the hotel rooms? Also they didn't want to give me a bowl from the restaurant initially, but then a staff member helped me out later. The location: in the gated community of Ocean Park, adjacent to the trendy neighborhoods of Santurce and Condado. A quick Uber ride can bring you to Old San Juan and Ubers arrived within 5 minutes from my experience. The rooms: honestly, nothing special. The cleaning could have been a bit more thorough getting the nooks and crannies. I was glad to stay in an interior room, as I wanted quiet. If you stayed in a beach-facing room, you could hear the music from the restaurant below. I loved that the room came with free lounge chair rentals on the beach. I also loved that wifi instructions and free snacks and drinks were in the room upon arrival. I did not love that there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. The A/C was powerful and kept the room cool. One thing that was a bit surprising was that the power went off multiple times one night. The first time was at about 9pm and the room went pitch black, which was kind of scary. I was searching for my phone flashlight, but the power came back on about 30 seconds later. This happened again at 2am. The internet in the room was good for streaming initially, but after the power outage, the internet cut out about every 10 minutes. Overall, I had a great experience and I would definitely come back!

We had the unpleasant experience to discover last call for food order 6:30pm. When I shared my displeasure with the manager she said the hours had changed. I pointed out that the QRCodes on ALL the tables went yo website that said 8pm. ...and the printed menus said 8pm and yhe only reason we found out that 6:30pm was latest to order food was we happened to be at the beach next to building to hear "last call" times. Everyone at hotel stated that website and printed menus were out of date....no obvious signs stated different hours. Manager very aloof, but sh did take the qrcodes off the tables...printed menus and website still wrong. We encountered another couple who ordered food at last call. They were very unhappy that food served was cold and did not have any condiments. Next issue there is only street parking...we had to park .75 miles away from motel. Concerns about safety of leaving car on street overnight.

Casa Castellana Bed & Breakfast - Huge two-person shower

I found this B&B after scouring the web and reading the stellar reviews on travel review site. From…read morethe very get-go, I knew that I would have a great experience staying at Casa Castellana. I booked my room through the website and tried to pay for my deposit through the link that was automatically emailed to me. (NOTE: this is a bit of a pain point, but I am not deducting anything for it; the link is finicky and you are probably better off following the PayPal instructions for the 50% deposit). My little sister found a coupon code (low season discount) and Natalia, the owner, was so kind to honor it AFTER I had already booked. I went through a bit of a hassle because the link in the email didn't work but my room was mine through the whole ordeal. When I landed in San Juan, her daughter, Nina, called me to ask if I had made it okay and what time she could expect bf and me. I told her that we were going to get our rental car and head over. Well, we got a bit confused (i.e., lost) on the way and got to see some non-touristy neighborhoods (which is well and fine with me, as I love to see how people actually live somewhere and dislike just confining myself to the "safe" areas for visitors). The skies foreboded of precipitation, but as we pulled up, Nina was close by and opened the gate for our car. We got the Toledo room, which is the only room in the house that has its own private GATED parking space. Score! Nina gave us a tour of the lovely Spanish colonial home and we got settled in our room (we had just a little bit of time before we had to leave for a concert). The room was not huge, but very cozy with its own (high-tech) A/C unit. There was a flat-screen TV and a lovely tiled bathroom off the side with just a shower (which is a non-issue for me, since I don't even remember the last time I've taken a bath). We had a closet, some chests of drawers to put away our stuff (which we didn't do, since we just always leave everything squished in our suitcase). The next morning (and the morning after), we ate breakfast there, which was promptly served at 9 (or a few minutes after, hey, we are in a Caribbean island after all). There was a buffet of fresh tropical fruits, with bread, cheese, some cold cuts to start off with. That first morning, bf and I thought that that was it, so we loaded up with everything on the buffet. Then the plate of scrambled eggs with ham and toasted, buttered bread came out. While we did not completely gorge ourselves with the delicious fare, we were stuffed until dinner. There was also fresh orange juice and local coffee served alongside the meal and while we waited in the mornings for the food to be set up and plated, we nibbled on homemade chocolate chip bread. Delicious and wholesome food, on the whole (I know, chocolate chips may not be the healthiest, for you calorie-counters out there). I would not hesitate to stay here the next time I visit San Juan (one of my absolute favorite cities, mind you) and I really recommend that you do the same. Just as a note, you can walk to Ashford Avenue (or Avenida Ashford) for some shopping and dining options. But you will need a car to get from this Condado neighborhood to Old San Juan (or you can walk the 5 kilometers that bf and I crazily strolled--me in sandals and cursing myself). Have fun and explore this beautiful city!

It's a quaint three-story house with beautiful original architecture walking distance from tons of restaurants in the Condado area. We stayed in the small room at the bottom floor for a few days which is perfect if all you need is a place to catch some zee's after a night out. We then moved to the second floor suite and let me tell you, it is well worth it. Huge bed, cute balcony and a shower big enough to fit an entire football team. The wonderful hosts Natalia and Nina whip up a delicious breakfast every morning with fresh local fruit. I lived in Puerto Rico for 27 years and loved staying here. Definitely coming back again.

We had a few ups and downs at the Andalucia that I will go through for your consideration!…read more The good: -The owners were VERY friendly and helpful. They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!

It's only for one night in preparation for our cruise but was a great choice. The room is a Queen with a Murphy bed. It's spacious has all you need for a comfortable stay. I highly recommend and will be adding it to my contacts and definitely stay here again in the future. The decor is beautiful with a gorgeous fresh centerpiece changed out weekly. The pool area is nice. The maintenance man tidying up is also personable. For those wanting to stay fit while traveling or to work off their cookies, the Fitness Center can accommodate. The Digital Key is a great feature for those who love all things technology. I may opt for a traditional room key next time. It's good to have options. Oh, "The DoubleTree Cookie" is always available in abundance. I walked up to the front desk the next morning to ask a question and was handed 2 cookies. :-) Margarita is a welcome pleasant presence at the DoubleTree! The review may be short but I really am impressed with everything I've seen and experienced. The bed was comfortable. Thank you DoubleTree by Hilton San Juan!
