The worst thing here the staffs here were very hostile to muslims like myself then as well as insulting my culture and ethnicity as a Yemeni-Acehnese. Especially Stewart Clark, he would call my culture primitive and stupid. I was sent to detention here a lot with little to no justification and the little justifications had literally no proof. I was then sent to a counselor because Assistant Principal Stewart Clark thinks Islam is a mental illness and he even referred me to a psychologist which well it didn't work because I was not mentally ill. And then the higher staffs then sent me on suspension multiple times all because of my views and religion and ethnicities. Some of the students here are islamophobic and have a deep hatred for arabs like myself and some were responsible with making false claims on me then to get me into trouble. I was then assumed to be dangerous by Stewart Clark just because I'm muslim and a Yemeni-Acehnese. I got my backpack searched without permission and was seen as an enemy by him and other staffs like principal Rutherford for my race and religion. Eventually I was expelled. The experience here left me with PTSD to this day. I hope Steward Clark, Principal Rutherford, and the counselor then understands how their bigotry then. I really hope things has changed today from the time I'm there and the school being more accepting to diversity now and has more respect to other backgrounds.

EXTREMELY RIGOROUS, however; not for the squeemish, lazy, or less-than-very-intelligent. Don't take the whole IB program without careful consideration. Or just take a few classes, and forgo completing entire two-year certificate. Public schools these days require that students be go-getters, and not spoiled recalcitrant children who expect to receive an education by transfusion or something. Showing up everyday is not enough. Hard work for the full four years is what it takes. In general, Montgomery did a fine job of educating our daughter, who's off to Wesleyan University next year. No school is perfect, and Monty has its problems, to be sure. Nevertheless ... a fine school public school, overall ... easily equal or superior to any private school in Sonoma County.

Two stars for communication as a parent to a teacher, assistant principal, principal, coaches…read morecommunication is just pathetic!!!!!! So this is not the only reason they're getting one star we just sat through a two hour senior ceremony as they sent my son a letter saying he was going to get an award for something after two hours of sitting in the hot humid gym with all his friends there was no award obviously a miscommunication but I am steaming mad my son is hurt and embarrassed sitting with his friends for two hours as they all receive awards and he gets nothing thanks a lot staff!!!! Just imagine this is your kid they had really tried hard his last year as a senior and got very good grades really excelled and proved himself was all excited he was going to be sitting with his friends receiving an award for all his accomplishments and his name was not called put yourself in my shoes I think you'll be pretty pissed off too! Thank God he is done here! shame on you Montgomery high school staff. So the other part was we bought our son a car and a few weeks later somebody had backed into at Montgomery high school parking Over $5000 worth of damage when I went to the school to ask them if they had video they said "we don't think so?" I said "well can you check please this is a hit-and-run on your property" and three weeks later they said "I don't think we can find it we don't think our cameras go back that far into the parking lot" thanks for nothing & thanks for your concern not once did anybody say they were sorry.

We're in our sixth year at Live Oak and adore the school. The grades have a lovely balance of Waldorf and mainstream education but are unwavering in teaching to the whole child. The curriculum is true to Waldorf in keeping pace with the child's development and is designed to match the children in where they are in their experience of themselves and the wider world. Our middle school is also a gem! Handwork, movement, and music is integrated into all the grades K-8 The parent community is very involved, invested, and warm. The teachers and staff are loving and committed. As a community we celebrate and receive grounding in our seasonal festivals and traditions. We have been very happy at this school which feels like a second home.

Something that I learned on a school tour and is a great example of how they teach is that the children learn to sew by hand in Kindergarten, and continue throughout the grades, and then when they learn about the industrial revolution, they get the chance to sew on machines. They get to embody and truly understand how that dramatically sped up the world. We began in 2020-- quite the intro! Now in our 3rd year, we are so excited about the leaders of the school and all the new ideas being shared and soon to be in action. We could not be happier or feel more blessed by the teachers our children have, and to be at school that still has blackboards, little to no tech in lower grades with a strong arts foundation and focus. It has strong parent engagement, and it is clear that our voices matter. Their is so much kindness and care oozing from every corner, as well as cherished traditions, rituals and special seasonal events in every grade knitting us all together as families. Each kid from TK- 3rd grade has an older "buddy" from a higher grade which bridges the divide even further and creates a real sense of connection. My 1st grader got to wave to an 8th grader and feel quite special that they got to spend time together. I have watched graduates of this school grow to be in their 20s and let me say, WOW. Inquisitive, critical thinking, sensitive, open minded, independent, creative, respectful, unique and wildly talented humans!

In many ways, SWSF served me better than higher education: the academics were rigorous in a way that required genuine thinking and original ideas, rather than the passive reproduction of others' thoughts. I learned how to collaborate with people different from myself, a necessary skill in any job. My teachers challenged my assumptions and helped me grow as a writer, mathematician, and scientist -- and as a human being. The arts and music, although no longer central to my daily life, broadened my perspective and made learning feel beautiful and meaningful. I am deeply grateful for this education and for all the paths it has allowed me to travel.

I feel a deep gratitude for both of these talented teachers. (Both still work at Summerfield.) Summerfield High School has the best teachers. The teachers push the students to put their best self forward. The coursework is rigorous. The students frequently use art to express themselves. In my opinion, this is a beautiful and logical way to educate children. I feel grateful that we found Summerfield. I appreciate all that these exceptional teachers did for our children.
