Missed the wine tastings here; came here after dinner at another restaurant for dancing and fun! And boy is this venue a blast!!! We were all getting pretty tired from a full day of wine tasting so wasn't sure how much energy I'd have for this club. But once we got inside and situated at our own table with a bottle of tequila it was on! Haha! The vibe in this place is unlike any other! Everyone seems to have a smile on their face and ready to dance or just chat it up with a local or fellow traveler. The music is great and they are on top of it when it comes to making sure your drinks are full or that you have whatever you need. This place is insane!! A winery and a club all in one. My friends and I had no idea what to expect, and was planning to do a tequila tasting but we ended up at the rooftop bar the entire night. There is security everywhere. Even right in front of the entrance of the bathroom. They check you before entering and require masks when you enter. Josue took care of us and hands down provided the best service we've ever had. The hospitality and attentive was second to none. We don't know much Spanish, but luckily Josue knew English and we were able to communicate with him, and he even helped out with the currency conversions when we had questions. I am also not exaggerating when I say this is the best "bar" food I've ever had. We tried the squid ink ceviche, tacos, cheese platter (the cheaper one) and got 2 bottles. Food and drinks were amazing. Josue came around multiple times to pour alcohol into our mouths haha! I wish I could have experienced the winery aspect of Casa Frida as well, but we had a lot of fun at their rooftop bar. FUN place. Tons of energy and creative vibes. Most of the Valle is pretty chill and relaxing. But this place rocks. It's the way to end the day, when the sun goes down and the lights go on and the music cranks up. It's the place to mingle and dance and meet new friends. We recently reserved a table at the newly-opened lounge LATIDOS for Saturday night dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was six of us and our first time here. Our server was Jonathan H. The food was great, the music was ok with a blend of house and pop. The cocktails were a little slow to come out but beer was fast. They did not have dessert: no birthday candle. Nonetheless, I would have given five stars, however, there was a bit of an awkward situation that happened. My beer was tipped over by the busboy as he served the food and accidentally most of the beer ended in my plate. Anyone in hospitality would know to replace the food and spilled drink, however that was not the case. We understand accidents happen but if you are paying top money, you expect top service. After our 1.5 hour stay, Jonathan got snappy about us leaving 13% instead of 15% tip and asked for more. Very unprofessional. read more

Regret so much coming here. It was our first and last time. Let me explain myself with details. We were in the valle for the entire day and this was our first stop since everyone has been talking about it and pictures looked amazing. It was August 19th celebrating our 4 year anniversary. The place is very very small compared to al the other ones I have been too. And I have been to pretty much all of them. At first we were impressed by the decorations! I have to admit they do have amazing decorations! It's full of Friday kahlo paintings. It's beautiful!!! Pretty! Amazing! But everything went down the hill after a few minute later. We were excited because Before going I asked them if they did wine tasting and they said yes! They even emailed me the list with the different options. We were expecting something completely different. More like el cielo wine tasting room. Where you go under the place and they show you teach you and explain you all the process and a glass is included and everything. Well here it was nothing like that! I nicely asked where was the wine tasting and they said oh it's here. And I was surprised I said "here" it was at the bar. So obviously we didn't want to do it anymore! So we decided to stay and try some wines! Well the wine I wanted vid de la vida wasn't available. Say what??? Yes!!! It was not available that's when I got really irritated and decided to just leave! And we ended up heading to other wine yard. To be honest you can get fooled by the pictures but once you're there everything sucks!! The over all atmosphere has changed. From the start a metal detector and security add to the entrance. Has changed the over all eclectic feel has been over taken by the commercialization of Frida and Diego. The Tequila and wine tasting experience was ok. The Diner at Corazon was a joke. All the items that our group of 6 people ordered where cooked bad or did not look appetizing. The pescado zarandiado, was a joke. They gave us a fish filet with bbq sauce. The aracheras was chewy, and bland. The aguachile negr, really looked like shitx. At the end the price did not reflect the quality. We paid twice as much as we did 2 years ago. Casa Frida is definitely a delight for the senses. And don't miss Diego the cat. On the other hand I'd say skip the Tequila pairing. Good tequila is not meant to be paired with flavored dustings or lime juice. And the way servers instruct drinkers to swish the concoction in the mouth similar to a visit to the dentist followed by a yoga style exhale was gross and annoying. Casa frida is a nice winery but definitely one of the more popular ones, it's always packed and the seating available for those who come without reservations is in the hot sun. On sept 8 Friday night was, unfortunately, not as enjoyable as I had hoped my experience was a bit of a rollercoaster, it seems like the music left something to be desired, especially when the DJ initially refused to play A song, which was disappointing. It's unfortunate that I felt disrespected by laughing at my request. "El general " & claim he doesn't play older music Later in the night, they did play older music as he claimed he didn't have that selection either way it still didn't meet my expectations, making it a bit of a letdown for my group. Additionally, my experience with the waitress was also less than ideal, as he wasn't very knowledgeable or friendly when i asked about wine selections. However, I did give Casa Frida another chance on Saturday night I'm pleased to say that Saturday was an entirely different story, and it turned out to be a much better experience. The music was fantastic, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, and my service from a short waiter with cute nerdy glasses was excellent, including quick drink service. It's clear that Casa Frida can be a hit or miss, and in both music selection and service quality. Hopefully, they can work on improving their Friday night offerings to match the positive experience I had on Saturday. read more

We were recommended Casa Frida by two great couples to try it out and include the Cava Chavela! Not much was given away except that we needed to follow the flower petals!! The winery is rustic with great atmosphere! The art work and deco are great! I recommend going mid week so you can enjoy the entire grounds! We were there on a Thursday afternoon and had a great time! We did both wine and the tequila tasting. My buddy and I tried Mis Aguacates (NOM 1459) tequila which was not bad. Out of all we really enjoyed the Reposado the best. My wife and his wife tried the chocolate and wine paring of Diego, Latidos, Miradas, and Pasión de Frida. The wine didn't hit the right taste buds for them though... After checking out the grounds a bit we obviously did the Cava Chavela! I can only say it was an intimate which everyone should experience!! We did the premium wine and tequila tasting in the Cava, enjoyed the wine and tequila better and actually brought home a few bottles. Chavela wine, and the Romántico tequila (NOM 1459) were our choices. Unfortunately, we had dinner plans elsewhere but we are definitely visiting again, with friends of of course and maybe stay at THEIR AirB&B!! read more

We liked this place. We liked the djs- only problem was that the music was WAY too loud for the bar being basically empty at 1PM. Ok to blast music if it's full and it's nighttime. Server had to be next to our face and we had to yell to talk. We liked our Mezcal drinks. Server didn't Bring us napkins to wipe the condensation off and we spilled one as soon as it was set down. Great winery,. I loved this place but there was one thing I didn't like.... First we went to the restaurant area to eat, they don't really have many vegan options other than a veggie tostada. It doesn't look all that appealing but it was actually pretty good, but not enough so got a side of black beans and corn tortillas. My bf got fish with veggies & tortillas he says it's probably the best fish he'd ever had. I got a sangria which I thought was delicious. The guy helping us was nice and helpful. We then explored the area and took some pictures. The inside is beautifully decorated. Now to what we did not like. My bf had an interesting experience. We were inside and he was waiting to be attended by someone at the wine bar. The girl closest was helping and talking to an American couple. Once she was done with them she did not acknowledge him so he called for her and he then asked a question about the wine (in Spanish) she gave him a very dry 1 word answer and then went about doing to what she was doing. It was interesting to see how differently the American couple was treated compared to him (Mexican/American). I've gone wine tasting twice in the last month - both times, the wine is disappointing and not worth the $20/per person tasting fee... its not even really worth drinking. The second time around, I made reservations for the rooftop cocktail terrace. I'd been seeing great photos on instagram of the cocktails they make - they looked good, and tasted like crap. Wow seriously one of the best places I've gone to, I'm a fan of Mexican wineries but this one is the best! They have 3 floors. The first one is more of a museum/ wine tasting. The second floor is reservation only. Highly recommend trying to get one. So when we got there it was kinda raining and since it was raining they only had indoor seating but if it wasn't raining, they had a lot of out door seating. We ended sitting in the second floor ended up having like 5 wine bottle, so you must imagine. We took the party up stairs, they had a Dj and the vibe was such a good time. The place was crowded. They have good but not much variety. I do recommend the beef tacos and the octopus tacos, they come in orders of 3. Don't come here hungry, portions or not that big. Our first stop along the oh so exciting wine row, the Napa valley of Ensenada !! And Casa Frida is a definite Hot spot. Plentiful parking & wonderful decor& scenery surrounding this hot spot. We had 3 wine&2 tequila tastings (4each: wine/tequila) ($250 pesos/ea). Each tequila was paired w 1/4 artisanal enriching spices (sea salt, habanero brown sugar, coffee w/salt, and a trail mix nut crunch) all w mini sliced limes. The tequilas started w/ a silver, añejo, then reposado& a super reposado I preferred the anejo & surprisingly enough was deliciously paired w / the habanero brown sugar. Went down smooth & crisp and the brown sugar gave it a pleasant ride all the way in. Yes pleasant & tequila shot in the same sentence! Ha As for the wines, range from bitter to dry, unsure of the alcohol content as the servers poured & disappeared. As artsy and pleasant the ambiance was, the service wasn't the greatest we had to wave down our connoisseurs more than twice (Felipe & Perla?) although she did have a fun personality they seemed overwhelmed w/ multiple tastings at once, didn't feel very professional. Lacked hospitality. This is happening hip spot in the valle. I reserved a table at the corazon on a Saturday. You need to put down a deposit to hold your reservation. Due to covid they have strict guidelines of co mingling in the other areas of dining. You must rsvp for a table and cannot buy drinks at the bar. I wanted to explore the top level of the main building and didn't know that it was based on reservations only. The corazon kitchen is spacious and was socially distanced. I ordered the rib eye which was okay. It wasn't as flavorful as I would expect. I would recommend the green ceviche. It was fresh and delicious. The beet salad was also good.
