Next to the fountain stands a ~750 year-old Roman pillar with an inscription dedicating it to a Roman emperor: this pillar is the source of the name "PATIO ROMANO" because it was discovered buried below the restaurant. FOOD: 4.5. Everything was very fresh and prepared with care. - 4.5: (Seasonal menu): salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and onions. Everything was at the peak of ripeness. - 4.5: House-style garlic prawns. Exquisite texture and taste. - 4.5: Ratatouille with eggs. - 5.0: (Seasonal menu) Iberian pork with potatoes. The perfect amount of salt with the pork. I don't often comment on potatoes, but these were cooked perfectly. - 4.5: House-made Cheesecake. WINE: 5.0. We each had a wine by the glass. Her rosé and my red were excellent, matching our tastes. Good selection of bottle and glass wines.

We arrived at exactly 8 pm for our 8 pm reservation, but the glass door was still locked and the…read morestaff inside just glared at us until we walked away. Not a great start. Once inside, the atmosphere was very pleasant, having been seated in a large, open atrium with ornate carved stone walls and doorways. We asked for a large bottle of sparkling water but were told that they only had small bottles at €2.50 a pop. Small bottles mean more profit for the business but are inconvenient and more expensive for customers. We started with a bottle of the Speak of Silence /Extremadura, a dark red wine made with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Tempranillo grapes. At €22 it was a decent value (average price = €19) with a 4.1 / 5.0 rating on Vivino and rated one of the top 2% of wines in the world. It was good, but I am not sure about the top 2% claim. We ordered and shared several dishes, so I will elaborate here: - Mixed Salad with Tomato Vinaigrette (€6.10): Nothing special, just an overpriced salad - Cordoban Salmorejo (€5.10): A local cold tomato soup emulsified with olive oil, Iberian ham, and egg, it probably would have been better warm or hot. It was tasty, but different, not something I would order again. - Cordoban Flamenquin (€14.75): Another local dish, pork loin stuffed with ham, breaded, and fried. It was good but a bit dry so I dribbled some sauce from the oxtail on top. It would have been better with an accompanying sauce, but then it would not be Cordoban. - Cordoba-style Oxtail (€13.95): Two small knuckles with barely any meat and eight small french fries scattered on top. The sauce was good and what meat that was there tender, but €13.95 for four or five mouthfuls? Definitely NOT a TravelValue. - Solomillo Boletus (€19.25): Iberian pork tenderloin topped with a mushroom sauce, it was delicious, but €20 seems a tad high for a few pieces of pork and a smattering of fries. Our server, Jose Rey, was professional and attentive and we were very pleased with his service. Another thing I did not like was the coercion to submit a 5-star review at the end of the meal. We were handed a card stating Ïf you don't like something, say it here¨but ¨Ïf you liked something, say it outside¨. I tell it like it is, so I do not appreciate being coached on what to submit in my reviews. The meal was good and the experience pleasant, but the few shortfalls we experienced kept me from giving them one of my top ratings. Q: What would you recommend? A: I can't. Took order. Did not ever come back. Meh. Food was good. Fried Eggplant was on point. Meatballs with the saffron curry also good. Cod, Egg, Lemon salad was a pretty plate but lacked flavor. High points were the Tajin and the oxtail stew. It is a good value. They have 3 sizes for each dish. 5 Totally earned stars for food that had us returning the next day for more!…read more We stumbled upon Casa Mazal while walking around the small streets in town and the decor and delicious smells pulled us in. We were seated right away (a fairly large party) and ordered Muhammara and bread to start and a sangria pitcher. The sangria glasses came with a cinnamon stick and fruit inside them- which added a nice touch and made this one of our favorite sangria experiences of the trip. The muhammara and bread were the perfect start. The bread seemed fresh and the muhammara was rich and deep in flavor. We ended up ordering the reinvention of hummus and reinvention of falafel for the table and they were devoured by all. Definitely recommend! Two other dishes I'd recommend trying are the eggplant with honey and sesame seeds dish as well as the gazpacho with mango. Both these dishes sounded unusual to our American tastebuds, but we were thrilled we ordered them because they hit that ideal balance between sweet and savory. Once again, I cannot recommend this place enough. Everything from service, to ambiance, to dishes were superb!

It's a really nice restaurant decorated with wine bottles and accents of brick and blue plates. We met Executive Chef Modé, who waited on us and brought me a perfect vodka tonic with lemon. My friend had a beer and then we shared small bags of breadsticks. We shared the oxtail paella which was the best and the only one I have ever had, and basically, it was almost tempting me to order another dish of it. I chose to skip it and go to dessert, having a brownie with vanilla ice cream and another vodka tonic. My friend took a shot at this flat pumpkin pie with an actual top on it. Everything was perfect there and I will definitely come back if I ever get the chance to return to Cordoba. I highly recommend stopping here and letting the kitchen staff take good care of you.
