The owner had my 2024 yelp review removed after our dog had Brucella (the same litter as Ashley's dog) Both of our puppies had to be euthanized and not only was none of the financial/medical cost reimbursed, she made our lives a living hell. They would not let me contact their vet to see if dog I was going to adopt had an appointment to get shots and neutered, dewormed and microchipped. They wanted money first. I contacted them in middle of week for this information but didn't answer me until Friday night. By then it was too late to contact vet. I ask for another day (until Monday) so I could contact vet. She asked why would I contact vet and I said to verify. I was told by Bobbi that that's not the way they do things. Funny they had to have money by weekend. Feeling something shady I researched reviews ( something I should have done to start with) and all were terrible. Do your research people! Go to reviews on Yelp. All one star reviews because there aren't any lower star ratings. Very tough to give this dog up after 2 weeks but I refuse to let this senior get taken advantage of. I'm very surprised that pet smart lets this go on (Adoption $650! to save a multi breed sweet dog) in their store EVERY Saturday. I'm guessing because I don't know,that none of their dogs get shots ect.... Until they get cash and then maybe. I hate to think about because I don't know,what happens to the dogs that don't get adopted for a long period. Update: Within minutes of posting this review, B**** of Casa Dogs texted my husband threatening legal action. She accused me of slander, which is not accurate. She means libel, but that's not applicable here. I have all of the documentation to back up each and every statement below, so try me. B**** also had Yelp remove the review because I had used her first & last name. Her first and last name are associated with Casa Dog in public records, so it's freely available to everyone, but I have removed B****'s name. Written Oct 3rd, 2024: I want to make everyone aware of a situation involving a public health concern and a local non-profit animal rescue organization, Casa dog, of Puyallup. In March, my family and I adopted Zoey (4 m/o) from Casa Dog. She had been in a foster home in Auburn, and a shelter in Mexico, before that. Soon after adoption, we noticed that Zoey was having health issues. We took her to many vet appointments, and to see specialists. We did x-rays and bloodwork, and couldn't find what was causing her pain and lethargy. Zoey's condition deteriorated quickly. It was heartbreaking and sad to see a puppy in pain and unable to move very well. We continued to look for medical help and put her on several prescriptions to try to keep her comfortable. In August, she had an episode of paralysis. I took her to the emergency vet and showed them a (horrific) video that I had filmed in an effort to best communicate the situation and symptoms to them. We quickly found that she needed a neurologist. After additional rounds of testing with the neurologist, we received the crushing news that Zoey was infected with Brucella Canis, an incurable bacterial infection, which is often transmitted from mother to puppies, and is more common in Mexico than the PNW. This bacteria is zoonotic, meaning it can spread to humans, although it's not common. There is no cure. Treatment for dogs consists of massive amounts of multiple antibiotics, sometimes for over a year at a time. There are many painful side effects from that, not to mention the risk of boosting an antibiotic resistant bacteria in our communities. Remission is often short lived. A commonly mentioned symptom of this infection in humans, is spontaneous late term abortion for pregnant women. This is really bad stuff for both dogs and humans. The prednisone that had been boosting Zoey's quality of life, was also suppressing her immune system and allowing the infection to rage. We believe the infection made it to her spine and was causing the severe pain and paralysis. We made the excruciating decision to euthanize her in September at the age of 10 months old. My husband and I are devastated, our two young children are distraught. We are all heartbroken. I provided updates to B**** of Casa Dog, as we were going through infectious disease testing. I asked B**** many times if the other adoptive families were being contacted to be made aware of the risk, especially once Zoey had tested positive for Brucella. B**** said yes, she had shared the information. I now know that she had not. Veterinarians are required to report each Brucella infection to the CDC and the department of health. There is contact tracing that goes on and lengthy questionnaires about how much contact you had with the animal's blood, saliva, waste, etc., symptoms to watch for until March of next year, and information on prophylactic protection options for humans. In searching for answers to what was going on with Zoey and what was making her so sick, I met the human family of one of her littermates, Pepito. Pepito is also sick. Pepito's humans found a littermate, Teddy. Teddy is not showing symptoms now, but he was very sick when they adopted him. All three have now tested positive. There are 3 more puppies (there were 6 in the litter) and the mother dog out there, in someone's home, very likely with this infection. There are people, like B**** at Casa Dog, who have those families' contact information, and should be providing them with this critically important personal and public health information. Based on my interactions with Casa Dog, I do not have confidence that this is being done. At each turn, when given the opportunity to do the right thing, Casa Dog has not. Dogs are not supposed to be brought into the United States for adoption if under 6 months of age. I didn't know this when we adopted Zoey, but a quick search of Casa Dog's Facebook feed reveals that nearly all of the puppies are younger than 6 months. Another concern that I have is that the vaccine paperwork sent by B**** to both Pepito's and Teddy's humans is exactly the same. I'm hoping that was an error, but I do wonder. For public health and safety, I hope that this information makes it out to the general public. No one should be adopting dogs from Casa dog. read more

Please don't support Casa Dogs. Our experience with the owner was horrible. So wish we read the reviews and adopted elsewhere. She is about the money. Adopted a puppy and during the trial week I was asking about if the puppy had been to the vet and where he was at on his vaccinations (per my vets request). I got no answer for 5 days (almost the length of the week trial) finally got a response (after my husband left a voicemail) telling us stop bothering her. Because of her response and tone, and still not answering my question, which is a personally reasonable question when adopting, it made me look up the reviews for Casa Dogs, ugh not good. When she wanted me to pay the fee and I asked again if he had been to the vet, she told me to return the dog. Then had her husband start messaging me but told me she wouldn't deal with my husband. What organization that says they "care" for dogs doesn't take a litter of puppies that were dropped off to the vet before adopting them out to make sure they are OK? She does it on the cheap to make as much money as possible. We got a good dog thank God but dealing with worms (said he was supposedly on dewromer and vaccinated). We ended up vaccinating him as if he hadn't had his shots and started dewormer right away. Turned an exciting adoption experience into a horrible one. Obviously we couldn't give the puppy back to that organization. Glad nothing more was wrong with our dog. Definitely do research on the rescue organizations there are bad ones out there as I started researching others just to see after this experience. My last dog i adopted from was from the humane society and he was neutered, up to date on shots had came with paperwork and answered my questions without being rude. read more

Then I saw Luca on Petfinder and knew I had to have him. The foster brought him to us and it was a great connection. DO NOT ADOPT FROM HERE. Casa Dog failed to disclose a visible health condition prior to bringing the dog from Mexico, refused to provide vet records, refused to pay for vet care, delayed communication and after I nursed a sick dog back to health, they threatened me. I was going to be out of the country when the transport arrived, so the owner found a foster for Azul through Jan. 22. That same day, the owner texted that Azul needed to have a mass removed. She gave no more information about Azul's health, but told me to coordinate with Kenzie, who was fostering Azul. On Jan. 23, I picked up Azul in Tacoma from Kenzie. We discussed the visible large mass on Azul's behind. I told Kenzie that Ms. Hanna had not informed me about it prior to bringing Azul to the United States. Kenzie said she'd had to push Ms. Hanna to get the mass checked at the vet. On Jan. 25, I texted Ms. Hanna to ask if Azul had been spayed and whether she'd been treated for fleas because she was itching like crazy. Ms. Hanna claimed Azul was itchy because it was a new environment and told me to give her a bath. I relayed that Kenzie had bathed Azul already because she was so itchy at her house. I asked when Azul had last been treated for fleas. Ms. Hanna never provided that information. On Jan. 30, I took Azul to my vet to get treated for her itchy skin. The owner made it clear they would not pay for that vet care. The owner initially refused to provide Azul's vet records. She said Casa Dog provides vet records after the adoption is finalized. I told her I would not finalize an adoption for a dog with an obvious health issue until I'd seen the vet records. After three days of refusing, the owner finally emailed the scant records from Mexico. My vet prescribed medicated shampoo and pills to help Azul's itching. They surmised that the mass may have been caused by a bad spay operation in Mexico. I paid $450 for the vet services and prescriptions. I began bathing Azul weekly and bought human-grade beef dog food and probiotics to address Azul's skin issues. My vet recommended teeth extractions, and Casa Dog said Azul had already had a "dental done" but there was no record of it. Casa Dog refused to pay for dental care. Casa Dog informed me Azul had been scheduled for surgery on Feb. 11. When I picked her up after surgery, I had to pay $25 for a cone because Casa Dog would not pay for it. On Feb. 14, I texted Casa Dog again because Azul's surgical site was very red and irritated. Casa Dog did not follow through with Greenwood until the following week. On Feb. 27, I took Azul back to the vet for a check-up. On Mar. 6, Casa Dog texted for an update on Azul and I said she was still quite swollen. On Mar. 24, I told Casa Dog Azul was still swollen. They asked if I was ready to finalize Azul's adoption. I wanted to make sure Azul was well before finalizing her adoption and on Mar. 30, I texted Casa Dog several photos of Azul's swelling. Casa Dog said she would call Greenwood. *One month later*, on April 29, Casa Dog relayed that Greenwood said it was fine as long as it wasn't interfering with Azul's defecation. Two days after that text, I left the country. While I was away, I received several text messages, phone calls and a threatening voicemail from Ms. Hanna. I have been lovingly caring for Azul with no financial support from Casa Dog, and they claimed I had stolen Azul. She threatened to bring a sheriff to my house. I have asked Casa dog to get these puppies that are their property multiple times, they have not done so and have informed me that pretty much I am stuck with them until they find homes. I want to give them back they will not take them. I want to find them loving homes they say they will report as stolen. Do your own research. I would avoid Casa Dog at any cost. I learned a year later that we have a third microchip number. What I received differs from our vet records and the chip scan. Please be warned. When I received my dog, there was poor and unprofessional communication. I am lucky he did not have a major condition, but did have kennel cough, worms, and was too thin. He also had bite marks on his ears from other dogs they were transporting. He was a mess from an unprofessional transport with other dog feces on him from being stacked in crates. He will forever have anxiety in cars due to his transport, and has a difficult time with other dogs. My dog was misrepresented as a one-year-old terrier from California. I love my dog to death, but he was a six-month-old chihuahua from Tijuana. He was not potty trained as the listing stated, and was not well adjusted. I believe this is due to potential fraud, as you cannot transport such a young dog across the border. I called Casa Dog about the kennel cough to warn other owners in the same transport, and they did not care. On top of all of this, the adoption fee is so high and what you receive is poor at best. Please be warned. Casa Dog is not reputable. If you do have a dog already through Casa Dog, please scan your microchip immediately. read more

Please do not support Casa Dog. Their primary concern is not about the dogs but about money. They are not a rescue organization. We found them through Petfinder and had no idea that these "businesses" have zero regulations. We drove 3 hours to pick up a pup. The owner outlined her policies prior to pick up which made me believe she was legitimate. We picked up our puppy from a very full house and drove 3 hours home. Within 10 min of arriving home the sweet pup had bloody diarrhea loaded with worms. We immediately called Casa Dog and let them know we would take her to the vet in the morning. They told us not to. Her exact words were "Do not take her to a vet. We won't pay for it. There is nothing wrong with the dog." We let her know we were concerned with the dog's health and not a vet bill. She repeated that we shouldn't take the dog to the vet and she said the dog was probably just nervous. The conversation escalated on her end and she suggested we drive the dog back if we didn't want it. We said we were not going to do that, we wanted to make sure the pup was ok. Prior to adoption we had been told the dog was healthy, house trained, etc. she said on the phone that she would send us dewormer but not to take the dog in to a vet. We took her to the vet in the morning and they said she was dehydrated and older than what we had been told. They prescribed meds and we started a dewormer. She was not spayed and part of the fee agreement with Casa Dog was that we were supposed to use their vet for the procedure. We looked up reviews on their vet and they were hortible. Several reviewers said their dogs ended up with infections and two reviews mentioned the terrible scar that wouldn't heal properly. One review said their dog died during the procedure. We called casa dog and said we would pay her half the agreed fee that we owed for the dog and we would get her spayed on our own. The woman at Casa Dog became belligerent and said she was coming to get the dog and would bring the police. It had escalated to threats after our first sentence. I told her that was fine. She could attempt to come on our property but I would be forced to call the police. I said we wanted the pup to be safe and healthy and did not wish to use her vet. Our concern started when we picked her up from the foster that had 8 other dogs through casa dog and she had not been dewormed. I reminded her that the agreement said the pup was healthy, house trained, leash trained, and 15 weeks old. None of that ended up being true. At this point I could not have a fact based conversation with her and said we would have to talk another time. She continued to threaten coming to our house and taking the dog. The next day my husband decided to pay her instead of dealing with someone who seemed unstable and unethical. The end of the story is that we are madly in love with our dog, Lola. Not only did we pay those initial vet bills, and pay to have her spayed on our own, we payed Casa Dog a ridiculous fee of $700. Please find your dog someplace like Little Red Waggin or Seattle Humane or any organization that can prove they rescue and rehome. read more

This business is the most unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful company we have ever worked with. To eco others, the dogs are extremely misrepresented and the employees do not communicate well at all. When we got the dog, they told us it was in foster care, however they refused to let us talk to the foster ahead of time. Additionally, the dogs fur was all matted, the nails weren't clipped, and ticks and scabs all over him which appears to be signs of neglect. The post said he was potty trained and good with cats. The dog wasn't potty trained at all and was not good with the cat. When we brought these concerns up to the employees they took at least a day to respond. We unfortunately had to give the dog back and were unable to talk to the employees about any concerns because we were promptly ushered out of the store by another employee once we tried to voice our concerns The saddest part of this experience is how hard it was on the dog, due to the blatant misrepresentation and disregard for customer service. This company doesn't seem to care about the dogs at all which is extremely unfair to the dogs, frankly they should be ashamed of themselves. read more

We had a good experience with casadog, so I want people to understand how to approach the process with them. First, a great policy they have is that you do not pay upfront- there is a 2 week foster to adopt process, so you can get the dog checked out in that time. The king county animal shelter does not do that- you must pay in full upfront. Realize you are getting an essentially feral dog from Mexico that may have diseases, but young enough that you can make them work out well with attention. Our first dog had roundworm. We chose to foster him instead of adopting because he was going to be too large a dog for our home. After 2 months the dog was adopted by someone else, which was sad but best for everyone. Our second dog from casadog was a better fit that we kept. After paying for the second dog we were given full vaccine / microchip records and casadog helped pay for neutering the dog in Seattle (it's free if you go to Tacoma). We're very happy to have him, and we're glad we got him at a younger age for socializing and training. The dogs from casadog are sometimes younger than 6 months, but I think they were all at least 4 months. Remember dog birthdays may be unknown. Bobbi, who effectively is casadog, is responsive via text but not quickly. I think some problems reported in reviews of casadog come from expecting a higher level of customer service, and I don't expect getting angry at bobbi will work out well for you. You may end up with a dog with problems, but you won't have to pay for it unless you adopt. It's important to protect yourself through the process and be careful. Remember Bobbi is not getting rich off this venture and that you and her are saving dogs from a much rougher life in mexico. Approach the process with eyes wide open and you should have a good experience! read more

I am fostering through Casa Dog. I was told the dog was cat friendly but he is not with my cats. He is so fixated on my cats and chases them down every time he sees them. I then reached out to Bobbi to try and tell her it is not working and I have been ignored for over a week. There is no communication. My messages are constantly ignored. This foster dog also has stitches that needs to be taken out and I have contacted them 3 different times trying to schedule something but it has NEVER happened. read more

My first experience with Casa Dog was when they posted on their FB page that they needed a short term foster for a dog named Brownie, Dec 24th-28th. The post said "she is good with cats, kiddos, and other dogs her size. No small dogs". No problem because I have a large dog and a cat, no small dogs. I assumed that her current foster was going out of town for Christmas and that's why she only needed a short term foster. When I picked up Brownie her foster was a bit frazzled as she told me Brownie had attacked her mom's dog resulting in a $2300 vet bill. I was shocked that I was just finding this out while picking her up. This was the first red flag that this rescue was a bit shady because they did not disclose that Brownie had attacked another dog. The first time Brownie went after my cat, she just took a mouthful of his fur. He was not injured - he literally just lost a chunk of hair. From that point on I had to keep Brownie on a leash when inside my house because she would lunge and growl at him every chance she got. I text Bobbi letting her know that Brownie had gone after my cat multiple times and was a bit unpredictable. I also let her know that my cat is an annoying orange cat that tests boundaries. Brownie is an amazing dog! She is potty trained and very well behaved. It was just very evident that she would like to be an only pet. She did well with my dog for the most part, but she would growl and show signs of aggression at random times so I would not trust her alone with a dog, especially knowing she had recently attacked another dog and tried to go after my cat. On Dec 28th, I met up with Bobbi's husband in a parking lot so he could take her to the next foster. I can only assume that the next foster had no idea that Brownie had attacked another dog. On Jan 5th Bobbi texts me and asks if I can take Brownie back because the new foster wasn't working out. Unfortunately, I had to say no because she does not like my cat and I can't keep them all separated. I can not stress enough that Brownie is a great dog, she would make the perfect hiking buddy for someone without any other pets! Poor Brownie bounced around from home to home, she did not have time to settle anywhere so I can imagine that only made her reactive behaviors worse. Casa Dog finally posted on January 7th that Brownie needs to be the only pet in the home. I think Casa Dog is negligent for not being transparent when a dog attacks another dog. They are putting other pets at risk. I was hoping the whole Brownie experience was just a moment of poor decision making on Casa Dogs part and not a summary of how they function as a rescue. So when Bobbi asked me to foster Azul, I said yes. Azul was coming up from Tijuana, Mexico. She had an adopter lined up but she couldn't take her right away so I agreed to take Azul when she arrived in WA on Jan 12th, until her adopter could take her on Jan 23rd. Prior to taking in Azul, I text Bobbi and asked "Do I need to make her a vet appointment?" Bobbi responded "No vet appointments". When the transport arrives from Mexico, the dogs are immediately picked up from their backyard in Puyallup, WA by all of the fosters and adopters. The lady assisting me to get Azul said they were out of medium harnesses. She handed me Azul's leash attached to a regular collar. Luckily Azul was not a flight risk or a puller. The leash was so thin and cheap. I asked for vet paperwork/proof of vaccinations and was told I don't need it, she was up to date. I thought this was another red flag because I fostered for other rescues that provided fosters with current vaccines. This was very concerning to me since this dog just arrived from another country and was now going to be around my pets. When I got home with Azul, I noticed she had a large lump on her rear end. I text Bobbi a picture and she told me her vet in Mexico said it was just scar tissue. I argued that it looks more like a big tumor looking lump. I got the okay to take her to the vet where she had a needle biopsy done. The mass is benign but she is scheduled to have it removed. Casa Dog started a FB fundraiser for the ​surgery. They get dogs from Mexico then bring them to the US and sell them for $650! This adoption fee is crazy to me because the dogs immediately go into foster homes or to their adopters and any further vet care in the US is avoided unless someone pushes Bobbi hard enough to get an appt. The only thing Casa Dog provided me was a flimsy leash and collar. I provided the dog food, treats, toys, bed, etc. I did not mind doing so, but why are the fosters contributing so much financially when the dogs are sold for $650! This is not a nonprofit rescue, it is a money making business. Casa Dog was accused of illegally bringing puppies less than 6 months over the border in 2022 and if you look at their FB they are still doing this. I am attaching screenshots that show puppies at a vet in Mexico and then the same puppies in the US stating they are 3-3.5 months old. read more

As others have said Casa Dog misrepresents their dogs. Was told my dog was 1.5 years. Vet said 8-10 years. Said good with all dogs and cats. Nope. Offered to compromise and pay $300 instead of the $600 they asked for but Bobbi the voice of the organization refused. She was willing to take the dog out of a loving home. Threats, bullying, nasty. I had dismissed the early red flags of poor communication. I see she responded to others saying it took her only 2 days to respond because they are all volunteers and they all have jobs. If that were true I'd understand. But she took weeks to respond. Refused to let me speak to foster. Never responded to direct questions. My worry is this organization is simply rounding up dogs in Mexico and selling them for $600. Quite the racket. Be very very careful. I've seen her respond to other poor reviews with lots of lies. Very shady sounding- good way to case a house- but okay. My first contact was a one sentence text from a volunteer wanting a second personal reference, which I sent.
