Omgosh their ice cream is SOOOO DELICIOSIO!!! I got the purple color as always cause why not? It tastes OMEGA good LOL. There's cherry and mint chocolate which is a SUPERB combination. Must try for yourself! Recommend 100 percent.

Casa de Sweets is located next to Casa de Fruta and I usually stop here if I'm in the area. I usually come for the candy, pastries and ice cream. On this trip, I opted not to get any ice cream, but did decide to get some candy and pastries. My wife enjoys their muffins, so she picked-up a cranberry lemon muffin. I picked-up a couple of their apple turnovers, but they were out of their mini apple pies this time. I also bought milk chocolate raisins, double dipped chocolate peanuts and chocolate gummi bears. They don't call this place Casa de Sweets for nothing.

Small soy latte $3.75 + tax

Came here to grab a coffee. I got a small soy latte. It was horrible - too milky with no taste of coffee whatsoever. Not sure if it was the brand of soy but there was an odd taste. Store itself offered a variety of things - stuffed items for kids, puzzles, candies, chocolate bars, fudge, etc.

Red bug inside the glass

I purchased a Santa fe latte? Or something like that there.. Prices are beyond reasonable when it came to the coffee... $3 for their small size. Which was really a medium if anything. However, the coffee beans they used for the lattes were very burnt tasting and dark.. I would have expected way better beans from a boutique style store. Also... It would have been nice to know there were no bugs inside their glass storages... And also nice to maybe get rid of some, if not all of your flies? There were many flies everywhere... That's pretty gross considering all the candy were exposed to the air, which allowed the flies to land on them. There was a small red bug that was having a blast running around the chocolates behind the glass.

"You know an odd feeling? Sitting on the toilet eating a chocolate candy bar."―George Carlin Casa de Sweets (CdS) is part of the Casa de Fruta (CdF) family of roadside stands/attractions that has been drawing in locals and road weary travelers for over 100 years. CdS focuses primarily on getting people their sugar fix as they primarily sell bulk candies, chocolate covered nuts/fruits, sweets, pastries, homemade fudge and they even have a café inside. We swung-by the other day after many, many years to see what we've been missing. Candy- Grabbed a small sampling of about six different kinds of chocolate covered nuts, fruit and other confections, and honestly none of them really blew me away. If I had to pick one winner I'd go with the Cashew Caramel Turtles, but it's pretty hard to screw those up. The chocolate on most of the products tasted cheap and waxy, definitely not on the level of See's or Ghirardelli. 2.5* Service- The folks working inside were all really friendly and helpful, but my interaction was very minimal. 4* Ambiance- I love the nostalgic look and feel of this place. The wood interior and carousel horse in the middle of the store really provide a welcoming atmosphere. Everything about this place screams "fun." 5* Value- The candies range from $13-19/lb which means the total cost can rise faster than you think. I estimated about $30 with all my stuff―but it was actually closer to $50! They don't provide any scales for you to check yourself, so be aware that some of these candies are heavier than they look. For example the Coconut Haystacks were a whopping 4oz/ea and just two of them cost me almost $9! Considering everything tasted "cheap," this wasn't their strongest feature. 1* Honestly if it wasn't for the nostalgia factor I would say to skip CdS, but if you're here with the kids and visiting CdF it would be hard to not bring them here for some treats. I would much rather spend $40 at See's and get a higher quality candy at a better rate. This definitely falls under the "tourist trap" category, but when in Rome...

If you're looking for sweets don't expect too much here just your average variety Target type Suites. They have your standard chocolates most of which is packaged a gelato and ice cream stand inside and super slow service. They have a small coffee shop as well where they brew specialty coffee drinks, or there's coffee on the top that's been sitting there for god-knows-how-long. I bought a couple of chocolates but they tasted rather stale, also I don't know how long they been sitting in the case. My friend had the gelato and it was quite icy, and my horchata ice cream was super sweet and not worth the price.

Pop Rocks Candy

Haven't been in here for a while. Nice place to stop on those long drives. Ice cream is the best way to cool off and relax before getting back on the road. Lots of tasty treats to choose from. Even some old school Pop Rocks.

Located towards the back of the property in a separate building.

4 stars for Casa De Fruta & 5 PHENOMENAL STARS FOR RIC!!!!!!!…read more My family and I have driven past Casa De Fruta on numerous occasions and never thought to stop by and check it out. Located in Hollister, this is a well known family owned attraction. Here you will find a market, a restaurant, and some fun kiddy attractions. The attractions are what brought my family and I here. After seeing social media posts about the activities, I knew I had to take my toddler here to explore. Fun attractions available are: 1) Casa de ChooChoo 2) Casa de Carousel 3) Gem Mining 4) Casa de Playground [a whole playground kiddy structure] We purchased tickets for the carousel and the train ride. The carousel seemed a little outdated and could use a little bit of maintenance. some of the seating rocked a bit- nothing unsafe but definitely had some unexpected movement. Casa de ChooChoo was by far our most favorite attraction. At $5 a ticket, this little train takes you all around the property. This was a good 12 minute ride so you aren't rushed to get the next load of riders on. The views aren't anything amazing but the seating is comfortable and you get a nice break from being on your feet. Popular purchasing staples include: fresh produce, dried fruits, spiced or candied nuts, & CDF's pomegranate wine. We walked away with some pink pineapple, assorted jerky, candy, & caramel apple. I'll have to come back and try their pomegranate wine again because of all the raving- I got a bottle a few years back as a gift but didn't enjoy it at all. Hopefully my palate has become more refined with time. LMAO! Shout out to Ric. Thank you for the delicious samples and even better convo!! You shine in a store full of staff, you are my favorite part of my very first visit to Casa De Fruta.

Very pricey but not surprised as it seems like a very touristy spot…read more I bought a bag of almonds for $18.99 and they are one of the worst almonds I've ever had. They are mushy/stale, extremely disappointed for the price point. The fruit I bought was pretty good.

TLDR; 5/5 ambiance, 4/5 ice cream, 3/5 service…read more On our way back from a day in Monterey, and we wanted to try garlic ice cream. So after a quick search, I called the shop ahead of time and the lady on the phone was very personable and confirmed that they indeed do sell garlic ice cream, but they keep it in the back room so we would have to specifically request it, and no free samples. This was all fine and well for us, and I was looking forward to meeting her after our friendly chat. Unfortunately, our ice cream server was not the same person I spoke with over the phone, but a younger male who was honestly quite rude to us. He was not very helpful when answering questions about the flavors and looked annoyed that he would have to go to the back when we asked to purchase a scoop of garlic ice cream. On the plus side, the vibe of the parlor was very cool and old-timey, a perfect fit for the surrounding downtown area. Garlic ice cream: Very garlicky but also satisfyingly sweet enough to not be overwhelming. Glad to have tried it once. Irish chip ice cream: Coffee ice cream with chips that wasn't too sweet as most classic ice cream parlors are. Waffle cone was standard, unfortunately not fresh.
