The two gentlemen who ran the shop were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience enjoyable. Building our own knives was an incredible value, and it was easily the best of our visit. I was a little nervous at first, but once we got into the shop, listened to the instructor , and received all the safety instructions. Zeus was an awesome instructor, I felt completely comfortable. Everything was explained clearly, and the process went smoothly. I highly recommend checking this place out, whether you're looking to purchase a quality knife or build your own. My son has been at home with dad for 3 years so all of this was very new for my family. When I first called to get information about the school it was just a wonderful conversation! Desiree was so patient with all the questions and concerns I had, such a different experience from any other place I reached out to who just seemed to be annoyed with all my questions I had. Needless to say the entire staff helped make this new transition for us all so easy and helped us every step of the way and we couldn't be happier with our decision!

When I came to make the initial payment and the director asked if I wanted to meet his teacher I of course said yes. We went outside where the kids played and I was excited to see who he'd be with all day. Mind you, this was to be his first time ever being away from me. His teacher was young, and looked super uninterested in talking. She said hi with what I couldn't even consider a smile, and didn't say much to my son. At drop off his first day the morning teacher didn't say much either. She didn't really offer any assistance when I was trying to leave and my son was visibly scared and upset. This went on for the weeks he was there. I did not like the staff member who hung out with the kids until his teacher showed up. She said good morning and that's about it. Towards the end I think she could tell I was irritated and offered my son things to keep him occupied while I left. My overall feel was these "teachers" don't like being there. I did not like this environment. When The lighthouse opened we made the switch and it was night and day! My son was SO EXCITED for daycare because the staff is AMAZING! I got constant updates, I don't have to ask for his meals to be updated through the day, he was engaged, the teachers are engaged and happier. I would never suggest Stepping stone to anyone.

I am a current student at KAPS. The people that I've met here, students and teachers alike, are…read morefilled with personality--You are allowed to be yourself with no strings attached. I've met many different niche groups here, who would typically be considered outsiders, mingling and being successful at a pace I couldn't imagine in a public school setting. Those who were cast out of their previous schools, no matter what they identify as, who they worship, or what they do in their spare time, are welcomed here with outstretched arms. The teachers here aren't merely teachers.. they're educators for the future--teaching youths to be THEMSELVES, not a 'cardboard cutout' of what you're expected to be once you roll out of college and into a full-time job. The students at KAPS rise above any expectation I could have had for a high school.. let alone for people, in general. The education plan here, I will admit, is indeed limited. However, with the population that inhabits the school, (and for the fact of that we do not get funding,) that's fairly forgivable. If it says anything.. Personally, I've been able to work my way into senior classes as a sophomore, and plan on graduating two years early as a student of 2020 because of the unlimited support that I've gotten for my education. The previous love that I had for knowledge as a child has grown into a flame I couldn't bear to put out.. and this, of course, is because of KAPS. I will say that there are some bumps in the road. There are people who do have problems and must have accommodations, and there are ridiculous things that do occasionally happen. KAPS is not a perfect school. However, the response team from both the students and educators here is miraculous.. Personally, I'm not sure where I'd be without it. KAPS, in itself, is not only a school, but a support group for those of different cultures, subcultures, and backgrounds. If you want to feel loved.. if you want to be a stronger person and if YOU want to be who YOU are.. come to this school. I promise, you won't regret it.
