He was also there when the mortgage broker that we decided to go with bailed on us. If it wasn't for Mathew and his connections we would not have gotten a mortgage in time for the house we finally found and had an offer accepted on. He was able to call in a favor with a competing mortgage broker to get our horrible mortgage broker to finish things up in time. I'm not much of a "let's meet over the phone" type of person, so I intentionally went to an open house Doug was hosting, knowing that he was likely connected to the person I'd heard about. I figured if she was highly recommended, there was a very good chance Doug would be too. I was right! :) After meeting Doug, I drove up to a property we discussed. I absolutely loved it and had to see it! I shot him a text and 20 minutes later he was at the property to let me in! Responding on short notice was something Doug did very well. My work schedule is crazy and demanding, but Doug's flexibility made everything happen. I even got email responses from him when I didn't expect to...at 11:30pm! We visited a number of properties together and I lost a couple during the bidding process. It's a tough game to play! Doug was sure to keep my spirits up and prevented me from losing hope. Additionally, I had very little money to work with and some hard to come by requirements at that price point, but he never made me feel like I was a picky or difficult buyer...even if I felt I was. ;) Each property I made an offer on was so different from the last. I was easily confused and therefore very guarded. Doug explained all the details of the process as we went and made sure I was comfortable before proceeding. He gave me his honest opinions when I asked for them (which was often) and was firm when things needed to be pushed forward. And, he stuck it out to the very end by attending my closing with me. I'm so happy he had my back! Thank you, Doug!

I was initially skeptical of mixing friendship and business, and in fact, we already had a broker we had worked with in the past and had a great experience with. But, as I watched KC work with her other clients and getting excited about how she was going to position each new offer, I saw how much she really cares for her clients and how insightful she is about the Portland real estate market. She's tenacious and relationship-focused, and she really listened to what was important to us about our next house. She establishes good working relationships with other agents, and proactively advocates for her clients. (Extremely helpful when you're in negotiations on repairs!) We ended up pivoting a few times and KC was always right there with us, patiently showing us the same houses multiple times so we could get a good feel. She's got a great network of lenders, inspectors and tradespeople, so we were able to get quick quotes while we were in contract, which helped in our negotiations. It looked like our insurance was going to fall through at the last minute and delay our closing, but of course KC has some great connections there too and matched us with a new insurance agent that got us what we needed in about an hour, which kept everything on track. We found a dreamboat of a house, and miraculously were able to see it four times (!). KC coached us to put together a great offer, which beat out the other offer, she lined up all the inspections and we closed in three weeks, thanks to her guidance navigating this ever-changing market. On top of everything, KC is also just a very kind person, and after working with her I'm positive you'll want to be friends with her too.
