If you're a bookworm like I am, then you can grow a little attached to your neighborhood library…read more And, thank goodness for me, my neighborhood provided a welcoming and helpful library which I enjoy visiting. I've been coming here for years and hardly anything has changed, except the addition of many computers and one or two new staff members. It has the standard technology: computers/free internet you can book for up to an hour, printers (10 cents per page), copy machine, all that good stuff. Its book selection can be a little on the modest side, but requesting stuff in is easy. It's got a meeting room in the back that's pretty sizable. So, yes, a lot like other libraries, but... What I really find genuine about this place is the look and feel you get as soon as you step inside. It's not the blindingly fluorescent, cyborg-staffed, frustratingly hard to navigate haystack that other libraries I've been to can be (and I, nerd extraordinaire, have been to many.) The dimmed lighting and a cabin-y decor makes it comforting and warm, the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, and it's not too big so easy to search and locate. It has a nice park in front if you feel like taking your reading outside. The only downside I can think of is the punks who come in to "do homework" and can't seem to keep their laughing down. But that might just be the librarian in me talking and it probably happens at every library in the US. And in their defense, there really is little to do in a town like Selma. Now, I know people are not going to drive miles to go to this library just because I gave it good reviews. Everyone goes to the closest one they have; but this is just to show my appreciation for the place that was literally my haven during high school. Let's hope the next one I'll be forced to go to when I move is as nice as this one.

I stoped by this library a few weeks ago since it's the closest library from home. I've never been…read morehere. I've only visited Downtown and Clovis Library and compared to this location it's quite small. I had my two children with me during my visit. I initially came to get library cards for all of us. As I entered I saw there was a stack of papers to apply for a library card. The lady at the front desk was way in the back but noticed me and greeted and approached me. I just asked to confirm if those were the forms to be filled out. After filling them out I went back to the front desk and she assisted me and was able to get our library cards a few mins after. My daughter wanted to play in the children's s area as she noticed a play kitchen so we did just that. They had a calendar of activities for the month. There were actually quite a bit of people inside on the computer and desk area. I sat down at one of the tables and noticed the tables and chairs could use a good wipe down. Otherwise our visit was pleasant.

I took my 3 children and it was giving Gotham outside of the building. Inside is nice and cozy. Relaxing quiet environment. The kids area is spacious and has great book selection and fun crafts to enjoy. My teens were able to explore the anime section, and there were chess and checkers to play. There were also puzzles out to play as well. The library is full of interesting books, magazines, cds, dvds, etc. I would recommend to set aside at least 2 hours to enjoy the full library. The staff are weird and watched us like we're going to steal, although the library is full of unhoused transients, and we were just a family enjoying the library. Very uncomfortable and not welcoming! Will we be back? Yes, because family fun in Fresno is limited and we do enjoy the library. Can they improve the experience, definitely. Also the chairs were mostly gross and they could definitely use an update.

We usually spend about 45 minutes to an hour inside just browsing around... If you have a library card you can rent up to 25 books and keep them for 3 weeks! I don't need 25 books I usually get myself one and get 3 for my son so he can read and use them for his homework. I have been paying for parking using my phone it's about 1.50 for my hour using the parking meter. There are a lot of homeless outside but they give out smiles and don't bother nobody at all but if it's your first time there it can be a little nerve wracking. The few books I have rented were brand new. I did spill a little bit of coffee on it and I told them when I tuned it on and they said it was still in great condition. My son loves the kid selection and even he gets excited to read. Don't go out and buy a book when you can rent it from out own Fresno library
